Thursday I managed to get up on time and I went for a nice ride before work.  The weathers been very odd–  incredibly foggy but warm at the same time.  I guess summer’s finally almost here.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and stopped at the Cliff House for pics.  Ocean Beach:

The Cliff House and Seal Rocks:

I continued up to Geary to 34th and then up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Which was seriously foggy:

I made my way down Camino Del Mar to Lake and stopped for a pic of one of my favorite streets in the city:

I continued on Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore to Pacific to Taylor to Clay.  I don’t know that I’ve ever noticed the YWCA building before.  It’s so very pretty:

I continued on Clay and took a couple of pics as I headed down into the Financial District:

I continued on Clay to Sansome and into work.  I headed home for lunch and got some pics of the dogs before I left:

Mimi might know something about this:

I went to the gym after work and then headed home for dinner.  After dinner I started on baking for the party we’re having on Saturday.  Then I got the kitchen cleaned up and I went to bed.

Wednesday I slept in a little and came into work Market to Laguna to Eddy to Taylor to Post to Kearny to Clay to Sansome.  I headed home for lunch and then went for a nice ride after work.

I headed off Pacific to Columbus to Stockton to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Gough to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I headed over to Lincoln and then up to Camino Del Mar where I realized that my camera had finally died.  Ah well,  it isn’t like I didn’t get a lot of use out of it.  I continued on Camino Del Mar to 25th to Lake to Arguello to Washington to Cherry to Jackson.  I stopped at Walnut and got some pics with my phone.   I love Tudor in San Francisco.  It works very well with the climate, especially in the foggier neighborhoods:

This apartment building is amazing.  It’s so gorgeous:

    Me:

I continued on Jackson to Fillmore to Pacific to Taylor to California to Polk to Market and home for dinner.  After, I dug out an old camera which is in working order but probably could use a new battery.  The bin it was in was full of random wires and I finally went through them and tossed a bunch of them out.  I was surprised at how few of them we actually still needed.  Mr. Poe capitalized on my brief moment of lucidity by dragging out a huge box of cables and I ruthlessly discarded almost all of it.  It’s crazy how many cables we accumulate over the years.  After, I got cleaned up and I went to bed.

Tuesday I took the day off to celebrate Mr. Poe’s last day of summer and we headed over to the Academy of Sciences for an early member event.  It was almost empty when we got there which was nice but it quickly filled up with screaming children.  I’d advise against visiting the Academy of Sciences with Mr. Poe if you don’t like to be there for very long as we were in the building for a jaw dropping four hours.  FOUR HOURS!  I usually can’t manage a museum for longer than two so it was pretty painful towards the end but Mr. Poe was having such a great time that I couldn’t say anything.  I took a bunch of pics.  These are from the aquarium:

    Hello gorgeous:

    These are seahorses.  So pretty:

    This is the rainforest exhibit:

    The living roof:

We headed to lunch at Park Gyros and then went to the Botanical Gardens.  I love the Botanical Gardens.  They’re so pretty and there’s so much to see:

After we finished at the Botanical Garneds, Mr. Poe went home and I headed downtown to hang out with Mr. Chris.  I headed home for dinner and then we went to bed.  It was a long day.

Monday was walk2werq Monday.  I didn’t have any trouble getting up early because I’d gone to bed the previous evening at an eyebrow raising 7PM.  Don’t judge.  I didn’t really have a plan for walking when I got up but one of the guys I’d been hiking with the day before asked where Divisadero ended so with that in mind I walked the entire length of it from where it turns into Castro at Waller all the way into the Marina.  Divisadero’s got a LOT of variety on it from this:

To this all within a couple of blocks:

I hadn’t spent a lot of time on Divisadero between Geary and California.  There’s a ton of restaurants there some and I think it warrants another visit.  I started heading into Pacific Heights and saw this glorious building at Washington.  Love it:

    Gold coast Divisadero:

    Heading down into the Marina:

I reached the end of Divisadero and realized that the Palace of Fine Arts was only a couple of blocks away.  So I headed over there.  I’d beaten the first tour bus and pretty much had the place to myself:

I was running late so I headed over to Whole Foods on California and then up over Nob Hill into work.  I saw this intersection as I headed into Chinatown.  It challenged my concepts of time and space:

I continued down Sacramento into work.  I headed home for lunch and then went to a spin class after work.  I like a little walk after a spin class so usually on Mondays I walk to Powell muni station.  I stopped by Barney on the way because I’m already conducting reconnaissance for the Love Yourself beauty event next month.  I went to the Le Labo counter to sample Rose 31 which is billed as a unisex rose fragrance and maybe it is for some but on my skin it seemed way too syrupy sweet.  Didn’t like.  I headed home and had dinner and then went to bed.  Long day.

Sunday I went hiking with friends.  We headed over to Point Reyes National Seashore and hiked out to Alamere Falls.  It’s a beautiful route that’s more than a little terrifying at the end because getting down the falls to the beach involves some climbing.  We had a great day and it was lots of fun.

Mr. Poe fed us dinner and then I went to bed at 7PM.  Seriously.  I was totally beat.

Saturday was the monthly Different Spokes jersey ride out to Tiburon.  We had a bunch of new faces which was fantastic and we had a great ride.  We started off at Peet’s in the Castro and made our way over to the Golden Gate Bridge.  Here’s the gang at the bridge:

    Heading over the bridge:

ALC was running a registration booth in Sausalito:

We headed over to Tiburon and then around Paradise loop before heading up Camino Alto and then over to Cafe Del Soul for lunch.  David managed to snap the bolt holding his seat on as we were pulling into lunch.  Not cool:

After lunch we headed over to Mikes to get the seat sorted and then we headed home.  I got nothing done Saturday night which was unfortunate and then I had a hard to getting to sleep that night.

Friday I came into work on Muni and then had another blissfully uneventful spin class mid day.  After work I went for a nice walk before I headed home.  I started off in the Haight and made my way over to Grove Street and started walking.  Grove between Shrader and Scott is not the nicest street in the city.  NOPA is a rapidly changing neighborhood and it’s gone from a dodgy neighborhood to a nice one seemingly overnight.  But Grove St lacks trees and there isn’t a bonanza of fabulous homes on it.  But there is one:

I stumbled across this building at Grove and Broderick which is under extreme renovation:

Then I headed up to Alamo Square and got a bunch of pics:

Here’s a construction site on Alamo Square which will soon be replaced with superfantastic housing:

I headed over to Geary and saw this cool sculpture at Geary around Fillmore:

    The coolest building in Japantown:

I made my way back to Alamo Square and got a pic of yet another amazing Victorian home:

I made my way back to the Castro.  The new building on Noe at 16th is super cute:

I headed home for dinner.  After I got cleaned up and went to bed.

Thursday I got up early and came down Market into work and went to the gym.  I headed home for lunch and then went for a nice ride after work.  I headed out 2nd to Howard to 11th to Harrison where I stopped to take pics of the gorgeous Carnaval mural between 18th and 19th.  It’s almost 20 years old now and I think it could use a little freshnin’.  But then again couldn’t we all?

I took 19th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Monterey to Ridgewood to Flood to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood to Faxon to Holloway to Lake Merced to Middlefield to Ocean to Clearfield into 24th to Yorba to Crestlake to Wawona to 30th to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  After I got cleaned up and then I went to bed.

Wednesday I came into work Market to Laguna to Post to Kearny to Clay to Sansome.  I headed home for lunch and went for a nice ride after work.  I rode Pacific and stopped around Van Ness to look at the new building that’s going up there.  I like:

I love how they made them conserve the crappy storefront:

I continued on Pacific and stopped for pics of the superfantastic Victorian at Octavia:

    Lusciously detailed:

I continued on Pacific to Fillmore to McAllister where I saw these fabulous Victorians between Pierce and Scott:

I continued on McAllister to Central to Grove to Cole to Fell and into Golden Gate Park.  I stopped for a pic of the Conservatory of Flowers:

Segway tour.  Really?  Is walking so terribly exhausting?

I headed over to Stow Lake to MLK and then came out of the park at 9th.  I continued to Judah to 8th and headed up Forest Hill.  Love this place at 8th and Linares:

I continued on 8th to Pacheco and stopped for a pic of this fabulous home at Casteneda:

  • Monday August 5, 2013

Monday was walk2werq Monday and my route ended up being 6.3 miles.  I decided to celebrate BART not being on strike by including it in my route.  The weather was probably a little foggy to fully enjoy the route I took but it was still lots of fun.  I started off by heading over to Ashbury Heights and the Cole Valley and then up the Farnsworth steps in Edgewood.  Here are the steps:

This is the nano-park at the top:

This is the view which would have been a lot more fabulous had it not been so foggy:

Some of the beautiful homes in Edgewood:

    Show stopping bougainvillea!

Then I made my way past UCSF and then up the Oakhurst steps:

I made my way through Forest Knolls and Midtown Terrace.  The mist I’d started out with had turned into a persistent drizzle by the time I got to panoramic so I only took one pic:

I headed over to Portola and then the 24th St Steps and then down to Whole Foods.  I got on BART at 24th and headed into work.  I headed home for lunch and then went for a spin class after work.  I was very, very tired when I got home.  I had dinner and went to bed.  I was worn out.
