Month: October 2008

  • Wednesday, October 8

After work I headed off 2nd to Howard to 11th into Bryant to 17th to Potrero.  I got some shots of the very beautiful San Francisco General Hospital.  Such a glorious set of buildings:

I continued on Potrero to 24th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond.  This is the Citibank building in Glen Park at Diamond and Bosworth.  Poor Glen Park has seen a recent spike in violent crime but it's still such a pretty neighborhood and this building is nicely detailed:

I continued on Diamond to Monterey to Ridgewood to Flood to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood to Faxon to De Montefort to Ashton to Head to Holloway to Junipero Serra.  This is the entrance to Ingleside Heights at Cerritos:

I continued on Junipero Serra to Ocean to Clearfield to Yorba to 35th to Vicente and down to the coast.  The sun was starting to set.  It had been a gorgeous day:

Me at Ocean Beach at sunset:

I took Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.

I headed off this morning Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and noted surfers about.  There's a storm coming in and the surf is up:

I headed up to Geary to 34th and then to the Palace of the Legion of Honor which looked gorgeous as ever in the morning light:

The view looking north to the Marin Headlands:

I camed down Camino Del Mar to Lake to Arguello to Washington to Walnut to Clay to Fillmore to Pacific to Jones to California.  It was a beautiful morning on Nob Hill:

    Flood Mansion:

    Grace Cathedral:

I continued down California and into work.

  • Tuesday, October 7

I headed off after work up Columbus.  You can tell it's almost election time because there are a lot of supporters about.  Proposition V will keep schools from terminating JROTC in San Francisco.  Sorry kids, I think the voters should stay out of it and let school administrators decide what to do.  I'm voting no.

I continued up Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Gough to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  Which FYI is being repaved right now and there's a lot of Gravel on Letterman, Lombard, and Presidio near the Presidio Gate.  I got on Lincoln and headed west.  The days are getting shorter.  But it was a beautiful afternoon.  These are from just west of the Golden Gate Bridge:

I continued on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar to 27th to Cabrillo to La Playa to Fulton to the Great Highway.  I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took it to the Panhandle and then Stanyon to Page to Scott to Duboce to Castro to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.

The crazy fog was still around this morning.  I could see stars in the Castro but everywhere else was socked in with fog.  I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Frederick to Cole to Waller to Stanyon and into Golden Gate Park.  I took JFK to Bernice Rodgers and then came down the Great Highway to Skyline to Lake Merced to Winston to Cerritos to Ocean to Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 26th to Capp to 15th to Natoma to 14th to Folsom to 9th to Mission.  This is the gorgeous federal building on 8th and Mission that I've been stalking.  Me likey:

This is the courthouse that's across the street from it.  Almost as nice.

    Me at 8th and Mission:

I continued on Mission to 2nd to Sansome and into work.

  • Monday, October 6

I slept in again on Monday and just headed down Market into work.  After work I headed off 2nd to Howard to 11th into Bryant to Precita to Mission to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Circular.  This is the fog rolling in at Monterey and Circular.  Crazy!

I continued on Circular and into City College.  I came out on Phelan to Ocean to Lee to Holloway to Font to Lake Merced to Skyline to the Great Highway.  I came up the coast and took Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home.  Mr. Poe had to work late so I had dinner and took the dogs for a long walk.  Everybody behaved.

  • Saturday, October 4

It was raining in the morning but cleared up by afternoon.  I had to go to REI and I stopped and visitited Mr. Chris and David after.  Mr. Chris and I headed to Victoria Manolo Draves Park on Folsom with Sofi so that she could play with the dogs and hang out.  She's such a good girl:

My boyfriend Russ joined us as well:

This is the view of the spectacular federal building from the park.  Me likey!:

The view down one of the alley.  This neighborhood sure has cleaned up in the last couple of years:

This guy showed up and proceeded to play on the playground equipment for a while.  All by himself.  Drugs are bad.

Then I had to head home for dinner.

After work I headed off Sutter to Laguna.  This is Laguna from Bush St. Looking south.  I like the Victorian houses with Japantown  in the background:

    Beautiful homes:

I continued on Laguna to Sacramento to Webster to Clay to Presidio to Washington.  This is the North from Washington at Locust (I think)

Me with Washington St behind me:

I continued on Washington to Arguello to Lake to 30th to Geary to 34th to Balboa and down to the coast.  I came down the Great Highway and then took Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and then home for dinner.

  • Friday, October 3

It wasn't as foggy as it was yesterday and it wasn't too cold at all this morning.  I took 17th to Eureka to 18th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey into Santa Clara into Vicente and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I followed it to Middle to Bowling Green to JFK to the Panhandle and then Baker to McAllister.  I love the buildings on McAllister at Alamo Square.  Very pretty:

    Me on McAllister:

This is the War Memorial Veteran's Building.  It was built in 1932 and is really nicely detailed:

I continued on McAllister to Larkin and then headed North and I found a new thing!  The Little Saigon gateway was just put in and is small but pretty:

I continued on Larkin to O'Farrell to Powell to Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into work

  • Thursday, October 2

After work I headed off 2nd to Howard to 11th to Harrison to 19th to Treat.  Treat Ave has some of the oldest housing in the city.  The neighborhood is in need of a little freshenin', but who isn't these days?  This pretty townhouse is probably early 1880's.  Maybe a couple years earlier:

This house sits back a little further on the lot the way many of them did back when this neighborhood was more suburban.  Some of the houses got moved forward later and some of them just got another building built in front of them:

    Nice detail:

    Another older house.  So pretty.

I continued on Treat to 25th.  This building is at 25th and Mission and is totally gorgeous and incredibly detailed:

    So richly textured:

I continued on 25th to Valencia to Tiffany to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey into Santa Clara into Vicente down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I followed it to the Music Concourse toJFK to the Panhandle to Stanyon to Pierce to Waller to Steiner into Sanchez to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.

  • Tuesday, October 2

It was seriously foggy this morning.  I managed to get out of the house on time and headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and then took Geary to 34th and then up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  The sun was up but it was seriously foggy and super spooky looking:

I took Camino Del Mar down into Seacliff and then into Lincoln in the Presidio to Cowles to McDowell to Mason and then over to the Palace of Fine Arts.  It's under renovation and I can't wait til it's done:

The swans were hoping I'd feed them and swam off angrily when I did not.  One of them called me a douchebag.  I swear.

Me with the Palace of Fine Arts behind me.  You can see the swans swimming to my right mocking me and chanting obscenities.

I took Beach to Buchanan to Bay to Laguna to Francisco to Polk to North Point to Columbus to Clay to Sansome and into work.
