Everybody slept pretty well last night and I managed to get up and go on a nice ride before work.  It's a little warmer this morning and the sun was already starting to peek through the fog when I left the house.  I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus to Cole to Haight to Stanyan and went into Golden Gate Park at JFK.  I came out of the park at Arguello and took that into the Presidio and then got on Washington.  I stopped before the Golden Gate Bridge for a pic of the foggy bridge:

I got on Lincoln to Park to Mason and stopped near Crissy Field Center for another pic of the bridge:

    Me:

I got on Marina Blvd and took that to Fort Mason Park.  I stopped for pics of the Benny Bufano sculpture there.  I haven't seen in it a while and I like it a lot:

For Mason with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background:

I headed over to Van Ness to Beach to Columbus.  This is the Financial District from Columbus and Pacific:

I continued on Columbus to Clay to Sansome and into work.

The fog cleared up a little by the end of the day and I managed to get a nice ride in after work.  I headed off Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Gough to Chestnut to Fillmore to Marina.  This is the marina in the Marina with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background:

I continued on Marina into the Presidio.  I headed up to Lincoln and stopped a little west of the Golden Gate Bridge for pics:

I continued on Lincoln and stopped at the WWII Memorial for pics.  I love it.  So classic.  So simple.  So well done:

I continued on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  There was a bit of sun up there and Pax Jerusalemme looked beautiful:

    Me:

The Palace of the Legion of Honor:

I headed down to 34th to Balboa and down to the coast.  The beach looked a bit more inviting than yesterday:

    The windsurfers were out:

I took the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and followed that to the Panhandle and then took Stanyan to Page to Duboce to Scott to Castro to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Neither of us had slept well the night before so I walked the dogs and we went to bed early.

I wore my leg warmers on the ride home for lunch today which is this first time I've done that since the spring.  Ah, fall.  It was still foggy at my house by the time I got home for lunch and none of the dogs seemed too keen on venturing out back.  Here they all are napping.  Note that there seems to be no space for poor Rufus on the futon as the two little dogs have staked their claim:

I slept in a little this morning and went on a shorter ride before work.  I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Ashbury to Frederick to Masonic to Haight to Baker to McAllister.  This pretty Victorian house is getting a renovation and I always find that very exciting.  They seem to be digging a new foundation and adding a garage.  Here's hoping they manage to retain the pretty basement windows of the bay:

    Gorgeous detail over the entrance:

I continued on McAllister and stopped at Van Ness for a pic of City Hall:

    Me:

    The State building:

I continued on McAllister to Larkin and stopped at the pretty Little Saigon sculptures at Eddy:

They totally remind me of Ashley Jr.:

I continued on Larkin to O'Farrell to Powell to Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into work.

Fall is definitely in the air which kind of gives me the sads because we never really had much of a summer.  It was pretty cool and the fog was rolling in when I left work.  I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Spruce to Washington where I stopped for a pic of the fog enshrouded North Bay:

I took Washington to Arguello to Lake.  I love this deco-licious home on Lake near 23rd:

I took 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton to the Great Highway and started down the coast.  It was most certainly not beach weather:

    Me:

I took the Great Highway to Taravel.  The Parkside Branch of the Library is getting a very pretty makeover that I heartily approve of.  Likey:

I continued on Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda.  Saint Brendans is well suited to foggy weather and may even look prettier in it:

I continued on Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe had to work late so I was charged with feeding both myself and the dogs.  After dinner we went to visit Courtney up the hill where the boys were fighting over her which was hilarious.  We headed home through the Castro and got home just in time to meet Mr. Poe getting home from work.  I was beat and went to bed.

I managed to get in a little ride before work again this morning.  Two mornings in a row!  I'm on my Trek bike which I haven't ridden in a long time and it's a really nice bike and very, very comfortable.  Probably more so than my newer Cannondale.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Fowler to Teresita to Foerster to Monterey to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 24th.  This is the pretty Brava theater on 24th at York:

    love the sign detail:

Me in front of the hipster-legendary St Francis Fountain:

I continued on 24th to Potrero.  I love the pretty San Francisco General campus.  It's under heavy construction right now.  I wonder what they're up to.

I continued on Potrero to 17th to Kansas to Townsend to 2nd to Market to Sansome and into work.  I'm hoping today will be a better ride day than yesterday.

Ah, Monday started off so promising.  Lovely Monday.  But it all went downhill so quickly.  When I went down to get my bike to go home for lunch the front tire was flat.  So I changed it and used a patched tube and reinflated it and the patch didn't hold. And I didn't have any more inflation cartridges.  So, cursing softly, I took the wheel off my bike and took it home on the subway for lunch.  Muni is still pissed that they didn't get the giant pay raises they think they deserve.  Has anybody else noticed that service has been a clusterfuck since their contract negotiations began??  So I had to wait on the train for ten minutes at Church for them to clear something and it took me forever to get home.  I started changing the tire and started noticing loose/broken spokes.  Not good.  I didn't have a whole lot of options.  I thought about bringing another bike back to work and then coming down in the car later to pick the broken one up but that would have me going down to the office again and I didn't want to do that.  So I settled on fixing the tire and riding it with a broken spoke very carefully to the bike shop after work and then walking home from there.  Which I managed to do without further drama.

The bike shop at REI was at extreme reduced manpower I'm guessing because bike season is kind of over and ski season hasn't really started up.  They've got some douche I've never worked with manning the shop and I didn't like him very much at all.  I'm going to have to call back and talk to somebody I know to make sure they're doing the work I want.  Which I hate doing.

My walk home from REI was kind of fun.  I walked through SOMA to the Mission and then home up 17th St.  This building on 8th St is a great example of a tenement building .  They're a variations of this building all over the city.  Since this is not high end architecture the success of the building and the condition it's in vary wildly.  This one has a nice Italianate style to it and it's pretty restrained:

This one on Howard is a little more baroque:

It's Folsom Street fair weekend on Sunday.  Be careful of the bears:

    Folsom Street:

This pretty Victorian is on South Van Ness.  I love the paint job.  It has really pretty colors:

Me wearing the pants I'd worn to work that day, sneakers, my bicycle fleece and jacket.  Not my best look:

    The view down Mission:

    Pretty Victorians on 17th St.:

I made it home a little before 7 to find that sadly, Scooby was a rerun.  We had dinner, walked the dogs, and went to bed early.

I slept in a little this morning but still managed to go on a ride this morning.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Laguna Honda into 7th to Judah to 9th and into Golden Gate Park.  I went through the Music Concourse and then JFK to 8th to Lake to Arguello and into the Presidio.  I came out of the Presidio at the Lombard Gate and then took Lyon to Chestnut to Laguna to Francisco to Polk to North Point to Columbus.  This is the view looking down Columbus from around Pacific:

I continued on Columbus to Clay to Sansome and into work.

Sunday I led a Different Spokes ride out to Novato.  Nobody showed up but the weather was fabulous and I had a lot of fun anyway.  It was a lot cooler than Saturday and I could feel fall in the air.  Sigh.  First I headed over to Nicasio which looks a lot higher than it did last year at this time:

Then I made my way up to the Cheese Factory which was empty:

Then I started making my way to Novato.  I stopped for a few pics of Stafford Lake:

I went through Novato and headed down to San Rafael where I stopped for lunch at Chipotle.  Which was soooo good but I was very, very sleepy when I started riding again.  I continued into downtown San Rafael and stopped for some pics of the Mission.  It has some pretty buildings but the "original" mission seems to be a reconstruction that dates from the 1940's that isn't even on the original spot.  But it looks good.

This is the larger Mission church:

Complete with a hunky, big haired San Rafael:

This is supposed to be the original mission.  It is not:

    Downtown San Rafael:

I continued on into San Anselmo and stopped in a park in Larkspur that has many pretty redwoods:

I headed home and got cleaned up and then we had dinner and walked the dogs and I went to bed.  Mr. Poe had been watching the TNT Lord of the Rings marathon all day and was crazier than usual.  If that's even possible.

Saturday was out monthly club ride out to Tiburon and it was lots of fun.  It got nice and warm in the afternoon which was nice since it's seems that it's either been freezing or broiling with nothing in between.  The fog was very compressed as we were heading over the Golden Gate Bridge and I got a couple of pics:

We headed around Paradise Loop and then into Tiburon for lunch at Sharks.  Here's the gang eatin':

From there we headed over to the scenic overlook in Belvedere:

    The view:

Then we headed home and I made a massive quantity of tacos and then lolled around for a while in a Mexican food coma.  We went to go visit Wanderson at his new house when I got it together and then we went home, had a little dinner and went to bed.
