The weather was beautiful on Sunday for our Lifecycle training ride.  We rode out to Lagunitas and everybody had a really good time.  The rides are now over 50 miles and they are only going to get longer.  It was a long day but I enjoyed it.  Here's the view from the back coming up Sir Francis Drake on the way back to Fairfax:

I made it home at about 4PM and I had a snack and washed bikes and then got cleaned up for dinner.  Mr. Poe made me burritos for dinner.  Delicioso!

It was a little cold on Saturday but the weather was gorgeous and it was a great day for our monthly Different Spokes jersey ride.  We had a pretty good turnout and everybody had a great time.

Mr. Poe took a blurry pic of the boys lounging before I left:

A couple of us started out by climbing Marin Headlands.  The road was blocked off at the top for a footrace so we had to go back the way we came.  Here's Serge, Me, and Doug at the top:

    My bike:

    The Golden Gate Bridge:

Then we headed over to Tiburon via Camino Alto.  We stopped at Shark's for lunch.

    Cameron and Serge:

    Scott and Doug:

Then we headed over to Belvedere Island and stopped at the viewpoint.

    Doug:

    The Golden Gate Bridge:

    Mount Tam:

From there we headed back to Sausalito and did Marin Headlands again.  The back side was open by then so we were able to do the freaky descent down to Bunker Road.  This is the view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the top:

The beautiful valley from Ike Turner Hill:

From there we went home I got cleaned up and we had dinner.  Nathan dropped by a little later to visit and we watched part of the Rupaul movie Starrbooty.  Highly recommended.

It poured down rain all day on Friday--  quite a bit more than they were expecting, I think.  I took Muni home over lunch and came back with clothes that I'd need to start keeping at work.  It had stopped raining  by the time I headed home so I carefully trudged my way up Market.  I got a couple of pics at Market and Octavia.  This is the soon to be foreclosed upon if the city doesn't bail out their asses Gay and Lesbian Center:

    Me:

For dinner we went to Cafe Mystique on Castro between 18th and Market.  I HATED it.  Yuck.  First of all, never go to a restaurant that has a drag queen's name.  They got our order wrong and when my food came it wasn't good.  I got a falafel sandwich and they fucked it up.  How do you fuck up falafel??  It was so nasty and tasted leathery and I wasn't sure I was gonna keep it down.  Mr. Poe had taken me out to dinner but I thought it was so bed that I ended up paying for it just so that I could complain about it to my hearts content.  Mr. Poe liked his entree but didn't finish his appetizer and his appetizer was fried calamari.  I've never seen him walk away from a plate of fried calamari before.  Ever. Yuck.  Even the cocktails were bad.  They've got suspiciously good reviews on Yelp.  I can't possibly see how.  Fail!

I've decided to start commuting on my bike again.  I realize that my 2009 safety record rivals that of a central African airline, but the weather's turned beautiful and I keep seeing people on bikes and I've been jealous that I'm not one of them.  I promise I'll be extra careful and try to stay out of the emergency room.

We're getting a storm mid day but the weather was nice this morning so I rode in.  I took Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and stopped by the Cliff House for pics of the beach.  You can see that the storm is slowly sliding in:

    Perfect:

    Me:

I continued up to Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Which missed me I hope:

I got on Camino Del Mar to Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore to Washington to Taylor to California.  I stopped for a pic looking southwest towards the glorious Federal building at 7th and Mission:

    Grace Cathedral:

I continued on California and stopped at Powell for a pic of the Financial District:

I could tell by how I felt on the hills that I'm really out of shape.  It's mid March and I don't even have a thousand miles on my bike.  I've got a lot of ground to make up.

Ugh.  I've been so lazy this week yet again!  I did manage to walk home from work on Wednesday and I got some nice pics on the way.  This is the view down Grant from Chinatown:

I walked home up Mission which was a little creepy at times but I haven't been there in a while.  The view up Mission:

It was getting dark by the time I got to Market so I took a few pics of the sunset:

It was freezing cold by the time I got home.  Mr. Poe and I had dinner and then we went to bed.

The weather turned cold and rainy on Monday.  I managed to make it home in between storms but it was blustery and unsettled.  I had intended to walk home but only made it as far as Powell St station before I saw another looming storm and hopped on the subway.  It was good that I got on the subway when I did.  I hailed a few minutes after I got home and I didn't have an umbrella.

This is the view down New Montgomery from Market:

The view looking west up Geary:

    I think this is O'Farrell:

It was cold and miserable for the rest of the evening.  I'm definitely looking forward to spring.

Sunday was my Lifecycle training ride.  We headed up Marin Headlands and then did the Tiburon loop in reverse.  It was a gorgeous day and even warmer than Saturday.  I had a really good time.

Here are shots of the riders before we left:

    Stretchin'

We headed up Marin Headlands first.  It was a big hill that totally intimidated some of our riders but I think everybody did really well.  Here's Buz at the top:

The view at the top.  And yes, they make us wear those helmet covers:

Then we headed down to Rodeo Beach.  It was gorgeous and warm and perfect:

    Rodeo Beach:

Then we headed into Sausalito where I ran into super cute Bruce King-Shey!  He isn't a ride leader this year but he says he's gonna ride:

We headed over to Sharks in Tiburon and then rode Paradise over to Camino Alto and then home.  I got home around four.  We had dinner and watched the Oscars.  I was overlooked AGAIN.  I went to bed before they announced best picture.  I was beat.

Saturday I led a Different Spokes ride out to the Cheese Factory in Marin.  It was a really nice day and we all had a great time.  We rode pretty hard and I was very tired by the time I got home.  I got some nice pics.

Ugh.  I've been impossibly lazy all week.  I've been fighting that cold that's been going around and getting about eleven hours of sleep a night.  Which the dogs love.  Especially little Ashley Junior who would sleep all day if given his druthers.  I walked home from work last night.  We've had a lot of rain and the weather has pretty much sucked so it was nice to be out when it was dry.  I headed up California and then headed over to Pine where I got a nice view of the Medical Dental building which I love long time:

    Fabulous Maya revival style:

I slept in again this morning because it was supposed to be raining but it did not.  Yuck.  I've got to get moving again.  Luckily I'm supposed to be on the bike all weekend and the weather's supposed to be agreeable.
