I'm still not riding much because I'm keeping a close eye on Mr. Poe.  He's slowly feeling better but he's still really uncomfortable.  Poor baby.  I went to Mike's in the afternoon to get new handlebar tape and a new stem.  The bike fit indicated I needed a shorter stem and I didn't like the tape the bike came with.  I needed something with a little more cushion and I found this pepto bismol pink tape that makes my bike look very power puffs save the day.

Mr. Poe's still pretty uncomfortable but I think he's going to be OK.  Poor baby.  He slept for most of the day but he started moving around a little more in the afternoon.

I went and got a bike fit at Mike's Bikes on Howard in San Francisco with Graham who'd really nice and did a great job.  I'm getting a new stem which I kind of expected and we're going to replace the handlebar tape with something spongier.  I think the tape on it was meant for racing and it isn't going to cut it on a twelve hour day.  I'll drop it off to get the final adjustments on Wednesday and then I'll take some pics and post them.  The bike is definitely cooler than me, but most things are.

Mr. Poe slept pretty well.  Thank you, vicadin.  He's really, really uncomfortable but I think he's going to be OK.  I took the day off and the first thing I did was go into the back yard and finish all the work he'd started to keep his crazy ass from standing on lawn furniture again.

I headed over to Mike's Bikes in Sausalito to pick up my new bike which I'd eagerly been awaiting for a couple of months now.  It's a Cannondale Super Six High Mod Red with this fancy SRAM drivetrain.  It's really gorgeous and absolutely cooler than me.  I rode it from Mike's to the top of Camino Alto and back to make sure that nothing was obviously wrong and it has a really nice ride.  I still have to get it fit but I'm having that done at the store in San Francisco on Tuesday and that's going to be a lot easier to fit in to my schedule.  When I got home I rode it over to Mike's in San Francisco to schedule the fit and then to REI so that my mechanic could ogle it and then over to visit Mr. Chris and Sofi.  Then I went home and Mr. Poe was up and moving.  We had dinner and then we went to bed.  I was beat.

Sunday rolled around and was time for my Lifecycle training ride.  We had a pretty good turn out which was nice given the early 7am start time.  Here we are assembled:

My job was to go ahead of the pack and make sure everybody turned on Nicasio Valley Road from Sir Francis Drake.  Here I am pointing:

The day got pretty difficult after that.  We had a rider who managed to lose his helmet (don't ask) on the way to Point Reyes Station.  I tried calling Mr. Poe to arrange a pickup only for him to tell me that he'd fallen off a ladder and wasn't feeling well.  Panic!  I called Mr. Chris and asked him to run over to my house and assess the situation.  He went over there and called 911 and then got the dogs put away.  Mimi was agitated to say the least.  I managed to get Ride Leader Directrix Julie Brown to bring a helmet out for our rider and then I left them and headed back to Fairfax where Mr. Chris was picking me up.  I think I made my best time from Point Reyes Station to Fairfax ever.  I got to the hospital and they had just completed x rays and were waiting to do cat scans on his chest.  He was in a huge amount of pain and they were giving him a lot of morphine.  Turns out the ladder was a bit of a lie.  He'd been standing on a piece of lawn furniture watering when hanging plants when he slipped and fell.  The emergency room physician mentioned the Darwin Awards.  Here he is in the trauma center:

Note that he was fully awake when this picture was taken but thought that the death bed pose would look better on my blog.  He was the only one in there that wasn't handcuffed to the bed.  Eek!  I was totally afraid that a gang fight was going to break out in the emergency room.  I went to go call Nathan to get him to look after the dogs and they wouldn't let me back in because of some police action going on in the trauma ward.  We had the CAT scans and everything came back negative.  He's either cracked or badly bruised his ribs and it's going to be really painful for a very long time but thank god it wasn't more serious than that.  Mr. Chris brought us home and I made him some dinner.  I called his mother and lied and told her he'd fallen off a ladder because I didn't want her know what an idiot her son is.  Mr. Chris and David, and Nathan were really, really helpful.  We're so lucky we've got friends like that.

My monthly club ride with Different Spokes was on Sunday.  We did Tiburon loop plus a little extra.  It was really fun.  Here's the gang assembled prior to leaving Peet's in the Castro:

Dave, Michael and Jon at the bridge:

    Larry, Wanderson, and Thomas:

    Glamorous bridge:

After we stopped off in Tiburon we did an interesting look around Belvedere Island which is unbelievably gorgeous and has fabulous views:

Here we are on Belvedere Island:

    .

When we got back to the Golden Gate Bride I rode up to the top of the Marin Headlands with Doug.  I ran into Courtney and Regan and I also was running out of time, so I came back down to the bridge with them while Doug continued on to Rodeo Beach:

I had to be back in town by 3 because the Different Spokes members who were doing the lifecycle were meeting to decide if we were going to have a party.  We opted not to because it's very late in the season.  Larry and Trevor's cat cast the deciding vote:

I got yet another pic of Mr. Poe's Wisteria when I got home.  It was a glorious day.

Mr. Poe was working in his garden when I came home for lunch.  Here he is with his prize winnin' Wisteria:

Gardening tuckered him out so he napped a little with the dogs after:

I was pretty beat so I just came home up Market after work.

I managed to get out of the house on time this morning and I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Pacheco to Cervantes to Casteneda.  This pretty gothic styled house is on Casteneda:

I continued on Casteneda to Lopez to Sotelo.  This pretty view of the radio tower is at Sotela and 9th:

I turned on 9th to 12th to Quintara.  This is the view from the top of the Quintara Steps:

I continued on 14th and got a few pics as I headed north:

You can see the spooky hospital being converted to condos on 15th ave:

I continued on 14th to 15th to Aloha to Lomita to Lawton to 20th to Moraga and down to the coast.  I came up on the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK and followed it to the Shakespeare Garden which looked especially pretty this morning:

I documented day 9 of the Wisteria Watch in Mr. Poe's garden while I was home over lunch:

After work I headed off down Sutter where it started raining on me at Polk.  I continued to Octavia to Pine to Webster to Clay to Locust to Washington to Arguello to 8th to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton and to the Great Highway.  I stopped for a few pics of the beach:

    The view south

It looked like it was raining in the sunset so I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took it to the Panhandle to Pierce to Waller to Steiner into Sanchez to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe made it home around the same time I did.  We had dinner and I ordered tickets for the King Tut exhibit at the DeYoung in June and then we went to bed.

I managed to beat the rain this morning which was a treat.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway to Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor where I stopped for Pics.  Pax Jerusalemme:

The Palace of the Legion on Honor:

I saw old Asian ladies hanging out at the Holocaust Memorial again and that makes me very angry.  In my opinion, the grim reminder of the slaughter of at least nine million people is no place to have your morning coffee.

I got on Camino Del Mar and took that to Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore to Pacific to Jones.  This is the cable car at Jones and Washington:

I continued on Jones to California. I stopped to take pictures of Grace Cathedral.  Which I love:

This is the view looking down Jones. Fabulous:

I continued on California to Leidesdorff to Halleck and into work.

I took a few pics of the Maya Revival San Francisco Mercantile building on Market as I was heading home for lunch.  It's lovely:

    With gorgeous detail:

They're boarding up a bunch of the windows on the first floor.  I hope that isn't a permanent situation:

Then I documented Day 8 of the Wisteria Watch in Mr. Poe's garden.  Fabulous:

After work I headed off Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Laguna.  This is the view up Laguna towards Lafayette Park.  I want to say that the ginormous white house at the top of Laguna belongs to Danielle Steel but I can't even remember where I heard that so I don't know if it's true:

I continued on Laguna to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I came around on Lincoln and headed over to the Golden Gate Bridge which looked impressive against the unsettled weather:

I continued on Lincoln and got a couple more pics a little west of the bridge:

    Cloud shrouded Marin Headlands:

I continued on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar and stopped at Lincoln Park Golf Course for still more pics of the bridge:

Then I headed up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor:

    Me at the Palace:

I headed down to 34th to Balboa to the coast.  I stopped on the Great Highway for pics of the beach:

I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took it to the Panhandle to Stanyan to Page to Scott to Duboce to Castro to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe made broccoli for dinner which is always a treat and then I walked the dogs and we went to bed.
