Month: December 2008

  • Monday, December 1

It seemed to get darker and uglier as the day progressed.  This is what it looked like when I went home for lunch.  Dark:

    Me at Noe and Market:

After work I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Locust to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton to the Great Highway and then down the coast to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  The suprise discovery of frito's in the pantry meant taco salad for dinner much to the delight of everybody.  I was too beat to take the dogs on a long walk but we went around the block and then we all watched the cartoon Grinch Who Stole Christmas and then went to bed.

I'm hoping that I'm finally back on my schedule.  I've been feeling crappy for WEEKS and I'm hoping it's finally behind me....  I got out of the house a little early this morning and took 17th to Eureka to 18th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Ridgewood to Flood to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood to Faxon to De Montefort to Ashton to Holloway to Font to Lake Merced to Skyline to The Great Highway.  I came up the coast and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK to Middle to Transverse to MLK.  I stopped by the Shakespeare Garden for pics:

I continued on MLK to Middle to JFK to the Panhandle to Baker.  This building is on Baker at McAllister.  It doesn't jump out at you until you really start to look at it:

It has this over the top Beaux Arts frieze on it.  Amazing:

I took McAllister to Polk where I see the California Culinary Academy has vacated their Polk Street campus.  I think they're on Rhode Island Street now.  This building was originally built as a German social hall and Hendrix played here at one point.  I wonder what it will be next.  Please not a Starbuck's"

I continued on Polk to Post and stopped at Union Square to look at the Christmas decorations.  Pretty:

They have this pint sized skating rink this year.  I don't think they had it last year.  Very small:

I continued on Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into work.

  • Sunday, November 30

I did my first Lifecycle training ride of the season on Sunday.  Just McLaren to Mill Valley and back.  Training rides seem to start earlier every year.  Everybody had a lot of fun and we generally behaved ourselves.  Here's Beau giving a speech:

    Phot op:

Me with one of our glamorous riders.  I look a little toothy:

I got in pretty early and then went off to a Chinese restaurant recommended by Wilfredo that is apparently everything that my previous favorite Yum Yum House wasn't.  The place is called Big Lantern and it's on 16th between Valencia and Guerrero on the north side of the street.  I looooooved it:

    1)  They didn't freak out when I brought my bike in to order go food.
    2)  They have dozens of vegan options.  Dozens!
    3)  Food was wondeful.

And they're lunch menu is seriously cheap.  I was in hog heaven.  After I polished off my lunch, I took Rufus for a walk in the mission and then we went home and lounged around the house for the rest of the day.
