It was cold again this morning.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and got a shot of the Marin Headlands from Ocean Beach:

I continued to Cabrillo to Arguello to McAllister to Palmer.  This is gorgeous St. Ignatius from McAllister:

    Pretty cottages on McAllister:

    Me on McAllister:

I took Palmer to Golden Gate to Market to Sansome and into work.

After work I headed off down Sutter Street.  Here's Sutter Street at sunset:

I continued on Castro to 17th to Ord and home.  Our Christmas decorations are slowly going up.  Here's our giant inflatible snowman:

And the smaller snowman on the steps.

We had dinner and went to bed.  I was beat!

I overslept a little this morning which was probably good because it was FUCKING FREEZING.  Where the hell is all this global warming I keep hearing about? When I finally managed to get out of the house I rode 17th to Eureka to Market to Noe to Duboce to Scott.  These glamorous Victorians are at Scott and Oak:

And this fabulous place is down the block at Scott and Fell.  This one still has it's attic level.  I think a lot of buildings lost their attic levels over the years.  Spectacular:

I continued on Scott to Clay to Locust to Washington to Cherry to Jackson to Arguello and into the Presidio.  I came around on Washington and stopped at Immigration Point to take a pic of the freezing morning in the Marin Headlands:

    Me at Immigration Point:

I continued on Washington to Cowles to McDowell to Old Mason into Marina over to Fort Mason and then Van Ness to Beach to the Embarcadero to Washington to Sansome and into work

It was very cold again this morning but I managed to make it out of the house almost on time.  I had to take my road bike because my commuter has a flat I only discovered this morning.  At least I didn't have to change it on the road.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  Exciting things are happening at the South Windmill.  They've built this cool movable enclosure and the windmill is getting assembled.  I asked the workmen about it and they told me that they needed the shelter to protect the windmill while they covered it in copper.  Swank!  Also they said that the building next to the museum would be a museum when it was all over.  Nice!

I continued on MLK to Stow Lake which looked gorgeous in the cool morning light:

    Me at Stow Lake:

I headed over to JFK to 8th to Lake to Arguello and into the Presidio.  I came out the Lombard Gate and headed over to the Palace of Fine Arts.  The scaffolding is coming down but the area is still blocked off but it looks like they're almost finished with it.

I took North Point to Scott to Capra to Mallorca to Alhambra to Cervantes to Bay to Laguna to Francisco to Polk to North Point to the Embarcader to Battery to Sacramento to Sansome and into work.

  • Thursday, December 4

I could not get going this morning.  I got up at a quarter to five and had breakfast and then went back to bed for a couple of hours.  So when I finally arose I had to just come down Market into work.  I managed to lock myself out of my City College account and had to actually go there to get it reset which was a huge pain in the ass.  I stopped on the way back and got vegan doughnuts so it wasn't a total loss.  They're delicious but $2.50 each which seems like kind of a lot of coin for a doughnut.  Yet I had two.  I took some pics on Valencia on my way back from City College.  There are buildings just like this all over San Francisco.  These are a couple pretty ones:

    Me on Valencia:

This is One Hayes Street, a spanking new building in Civic Center.  Some of the windows look a little cheap but I like most of the building:

After work I rode Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Walnut to Washington to Arguello to McAllister to Schrader to Golden Gate to Central to McAllister.  Here's City Hall by night:

    The Civic Center Christmas tree:

I took Polk to Hayes to Larkin to Market to 6th for a meeting for the Training Ride Leaders for the ride series I'm doing.  Here are pics from the meeting.  Rich:

    Julie and Bob:

    Annette, Beau, and Buzz

    .

    All of us:

It's looking like it's going to be a good series.  It's going to be quite a bit more work on my end than last year but I'm sure I'll manage.

I took a picture of sweet little Ashley Jr while I was home for lunch.  As you can see, most of his toys are mangled and partially eaten.  You can thank Rufus for that.  Doesn't he look adorable!  And so much like Ashley Sr.  You might think that I'd spent $20,000 getting Sr. cloned in South Korea.  But it's just preposterous.  I mean, how would I have contacted Dr. Hwang while he was in town attending a conference at the Hilton in 2006??  And how could I have possibly obtained a DNA sample from Sr. while he was still alive by collecting it while he was passed out in one of his famous honey baked ham stupors??  And how could I have have possible managed to trade in my frequent flier miles to bump up to business class on Singapore Airlines when I went to go collect the puppy in Seoul??  It's just doesn't seem plausible.

    Here's me in my kitchen:

After work I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Walnut to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo.  When I got to around 35th ave I saw the most spectacular house fire I'd ever seen.  It was like something out of a movie.  The entire back of the house was in flames and a thick plume of smoke was billowing out of the front.  There were about five firetrucks there with more coming.  The dazed homeowners stared in front of the house in disbelief.  It was sureal:

I continued on Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton to the Great Highway to Kirkham to 7th to Hugo to 3rd to Lincoln into Frederick to Stanyon to Waller to Belvedere to Haight to Steiner into Sanchez to 14th to Valencia to 16th where I got Chinese food at the Big Lantern yet again.  Third time this week!  I continued up 16th to Market to 17th to Ord and then home for dinner.  Mr. Poe had a loooong day and didn't want Chinese so I ate my meatless sesame chicken and we went to bed early.

  • Wednesday, December 3

It was freezing cold and very foggy this morning.  Not a winning combination.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came down the Great Highway and took Skyline to Lake Merced to Winston to Moncada to Urbano to Pico to Ashton to De Montefort to Miramar to Ocean to Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 23rd.  This pretty building is on 23rd at South Van Ness

    Such great detail:

I saw this mural entiitled "El Immagrante" a little further down 23rd.  So fabulous:

    Me on 23rd:

I continued on 23rd to Treat.  I saw this burned out buiding on Treat:

I continued on Treat to 20th to Harrison to 11th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome and into work.

  • Tuesday, December 2

I'd been thinking about the super fantastic food at the Big Lantern restaurant in the Mission and by lunchtime I could think of nothing else so I picked up go food from there on my way home for lunch.  The restaurant is on 16th between Valencia and Guerrero and wasn't terribly out of my way home.  It looks pretty unassuming on the outside:

Pretty on the inside.  Much nicer ambiance than the Yum Yum house had:

This is the view up 16th St towards Mission Dolores:

    Me:

I got General Meatless Chicken which is some tofu concoction deep fried and then served with spicy sauce.  How can you go wrong with that!  Sweet, salty, and spicy, it has all of the tasty bases covered.  I also got this thing called "Turnip Cake" off of the dim sum menu.  I thought it was going to be kind of like hash browns but it was three half inch thick rectangles of weird gelatinous concoction that was pan fried.  I didn't not like it but I don't know that I'd get it again.

After work I headed off Sansome to Jackson to Davis to drop off my dry cleaning and then Broadway to the Embarcadero to Howard to 11th to Harrison to 20th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Circular to Marston and into City College and then Phelan to Ocean to Clearfield into 34th to Yorba to 35th to Vicente and down to the coast.  I came back Ulloa to 18th to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.

  • Tuesday, December 2

It was foggy in patches but the weather was generally much improved from Monday.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and then got on Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor which I haven't been to in quite a while:

    Me looking sassy:

I took camino Del Mar to Lake to Arguello to Washington to Broderick.  This cute little cottage on Broderick doesn't have all that much detail but it's cleverly painted and looks fantastic:

I continued on Broderick to Jackson to Divisadero to Pacific.  This pretty house is on Pacific around Pierce.  I think.  Sublte, elegant detail:

I continued on Pacific to Jones to California.  This super fantastic portal is on California at Taylor.  Me likey:

This is the view of the fabulous federal building from the top of nob hill:

This is the view down Taylor towards Market:

I took California to Leidesdorf and into work.
