  • Sunday, October 26

I got up early and went for a long ride on Sunday.  The weather was very mixed.  Beautiful inland, but freezing and foggy at the coast.  I headed up to Marin.  I stopped in San Anselmo to take a pic of this Romanesque Revivalicious seminary:

I headed into Fairfax and then through Nicasio and then up to the Cheese Factory and up to the top of Marshall Wall.  Bolinas Bay was gorgeous and sunny but I could see a lot of fog at the coast:

I headed down to the bay.  Which was warm and gorgeous:

I kept heading South.  I went through Point Reyes Station and then up Olema Valley and down to Bolinas Lagoon.  There was this huge flock of huge birds taking off.  It was beautiful to watch them:

Some of the birds were still hangin' out.

I headed down to Stinson Beach.  Which was freezing.  I didn't stop for long.  This is the view of the beach from up above it:

I continued South on the 1 through Muir Beach and into Mill Valley and then home.  It was a great day and I had lots of fun.  I had dinner and then walked the dogs and then we went to bed early.  Mr. Poe's finally feeling better which makes me very happy.

I got up early and took Rufus for a long walk.  He's soooooo much easier to walk since we got him the pinch collar and I figured he deserved it.  Ashley through the biggest tantrum when we left and evidently barked the entire two hours we were gone.  I took Rufus 17th to Castro to 18th to Dolores to Clipper to Burnett to Crestline and then over Twin Peaks and down the Pemberton Steps home.  He had such a good time and was such a good boy.  I'm hoping to take him weekly until the Lifecycle training rides start in January.

Mr. Poe's got a nasty cold and didn't do much all day.  We were going to the California Academy of Science but he ended up sleeping and watching crappy movies all day.  I did a lot of work around the house I'd been avoiding and then headed off to Mr. Chris in the late afternoon.  Air New Zealand has a hilarious ad campaign up in the Montgomery Muni Station.  Observe:

I love the Pac Bell Building.  It's so incredibly detailed.  Gorgeous:

This is the Saint Regis Hotel (I think). It's easy on the eyes:

I made it home about six and Mr. Poe was feeling a little better.  We had dinner and went to bed early.  Long day.

  • Friday, October 24

When I was coming back from lunch I stopped at a light I usually go through at 12th and Market.  But today I stopped because there was a police car stopped at the light and you don't mess with the po-po.  While I'm waiting for the green light I was treated to the sight of a man pooping on the sidewalk on Market Street.  In front of the police.  Who, predictably, did nothing.  How nasty is that??  Thankfully, I chose not to take pictures.

After work I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay.  I got some pics of some of the homes on Clay Street:

    Nice Halloween decorations:

I continued on Clay to Arguello to Lake into Camino Del Mar and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Which missed me since it hadn't seen me since this morning:

I headed down to 34th to Balboa and down to the coast.  Gorgeous sunset:

The view up the beach looking North towards the Marin Headlands:

I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took it to the Panhandle and then Stanyon to Page to Scott to Duboce to Castro to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe has a cold and needed babyin'.  Poor thing.

Certain little dogs.  We won't name names.  Let's just call them A. Poodle.  No, no let's go with Ashley P.  Anyhoo. he decided that trying to rip the phone cord out of the wall in the study was a great idea around 10PM last night.  He didn't get very far with that but I'm looking forward to the days when his appetite for destruction is sharply diminished.

I headed off this morning Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and then got on Geary to 34th and up to the Palaee of the Legion of Honor. Which says it had missed me since it hadn't seen me all week:

Me at the Palace of the Legion of Honor:

I took Camino Del Mar to Lake to Arguello to Clay.  This gorgeous house is on Clay at Steiner.  So pretty:

    and such nice detail:

I continued on Clay to Fillmore to Post to Kearny to Bush and into work.

  • Thursday, October 23

I headed of after work Howard to 11th to Harrison to 18th to Capp.  To check on my girls.  This fabulous house is a reminder of the fancy neighborhood Capp st used to be and likely will be again:

You can see the church for sale on South Van Ness behind it:

Me on Capp Street.  "Your country breakfast's ready!  Y'all hungry??"

I"m guessing this used to be a bank.  It's nicely detailed with a pretty fleur de lis design:

I continued on Capp to 25th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Circular to Marston and into City College.  I came out on Phelan and then took Ocean to Lee to Holloway to Font to Lake Merced to John Muir.  This is the view looking north from the south edge of Lake Merced:

I continued on John Muir to Skyline to the Great Highway.  The sun was setting and it was gorgeous:

I continued up to Vicente to 16th to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe's got a cold :(   We had dinner and went to bed early.

  • Thursday, October 23

Mr. Poe didn't get in until almost 1AM.  From work!  Why oh why can't we be ladies of leisure?  I totally overslept as a result of this but I managed to get out of the house for a little ride anyway.  I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus into Judah.  I stopped by St. Anne's for a few pics.  I haven't been there in a while.  It's so pretty and so well detailed:

I continued on Judah to La Playa into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I followed that to Bowling Green and stopped by the Carousel for pics.  I love this Romanesque Revival building:

    Me in the park:

    The carousel building:

I got on JFK and took to Conservatory to Arguello and into the Presidio.  I came out the Lombard Gate and then took Greenwich to Van Ness to North Point to the Embarcadero to Broadway to Davis to pick up my dry cleaning and then Jackson to Battery to Sacramento to Sansome and into work.

  • Wednesday, October 22

I went to the bike shop over lunch and they fixed my wheel and sent me on my way.  No it should never have left the shop in the condition it was in.  I'm guessing I'd be frustrated by quality issues at any bike shop in the city so I'm going to be sticking with REI a little longer.  I need to be better about checking the bike out before it leaves the shop.

I headed off after work Sutter to Fillmore to Clay.  There's a lot of really beautiful homes on Clay street.  Here are some of them:

This one's decorated for Halloween.  Such great detail:

    Me on Clay Street:

I continued on Clay to Cherry to Sacramento to Arguello to Cabrillo to Funston and into Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden which is still in bloom and looked beautiful.  I took JFK to Traverse to Middle to MLK to the Great Highway.  I came down the coast and took Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe had to work late yet again so the dogs and I had dinner and then went for a long walk.

Then I came home and watched some Tyra Banks produced trainwreck of a reality show called "Stylista" which is kind of a cross between "America's Next Top Model" and "The Apprentice" where a pack of idiots trade in whatever dignity they might have left for a shot at some shitty job at Elle Magazine.  And boy is it ever terrible.  Ann Slowey does her best to imitate Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada" but she looks like Jerry Hall as imagined by a Puerto Rican transvestite and acts like one of the bitches on Dynasty.  Apparently, she's not really like that which is a good thing.  I'm hoping she doesn't really look like that either.  The other judge, Joe Zee, is super cute and seems likeable enough.  You can see on his face that's it's starting to register what a nasty piece of trash he's attached himself too.  I'll bet you see the same look on Paris Hilton's boyfreinds as their picking up their first Valtex prescription.  And the contestants.  The contestants!   Most of them I just felt sorry for and the rest I hated.  I can't imagine I'd want to watch this sycophantic throw down again.  Yuck.

  • Wednesday, October 22

I had a very frustrating ride this morning.  Much of it was spent trying to get the rear wheel centered so that it wouldn't drag.  But I couldn't get it right.  I'm going to go to REI over lunch and make them look at it.  I'm kinda pissed they let it leave their shop in that condition in the first place, but then again quality control has been a problem for them for some time.  Which really sucks because I really like some of them and I love that they're open until 9.  But if they can't start getting things taken care of on the first shot I'm going to have to start looking for another bike shop.  Cue break up music.

I headed off Corbett to Portola to Fowler to Teresita to Gaviota to Bella Vista to Los Palmos to Hazelwood to Yerba Buena to Brentwood to Maywood into North Gate to Darien to San Fernando to Ocean to Clearfield to 34th to Yorba to 35th to Vicente and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK and followed it to the Music Concourse to JFK and into the Panhandle.  Then, I took Baker to Fulton.  This is our fabulous city hall from Fulton and Gough:

I continued on Fulton to Franklin to McAllister to Larkin to O'Farrell.  I've been waiting for this building to finish getting renovated.  It looks fabulous. I was afraid they were going to crap up the beautiful terra cotta but they just freshened it:

I contiued on O'Farrell to Market to Sansome and into work.

  • Tuesday, October 21

I headed out after work up Columbus.  This is the Transamerica Pyramid from Columbus and Kearny:

I continued on Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Laguna to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I came around on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar into Seacliff.  This pretty house is at Camino Del Mar and 27th:

    Nicely detailed:

I took 27th to SeaCliff back to Camino Del Mar.  This is the view West:

And the view towards China Beach:

    And this is Land's End:

    The Golden Gate Bridge:

I took Camino Del Mar to 30th to Clement to 34th to Balboa and down to the coast.  The sun was setting.  Sigh.  I miss the longer days.

    Sunset Joseph

I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and followed it to the Panhandle and then took Stanyon to Page to Scott to Waller to Steiner into Sanchez to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner. When I was putting my bike away I realized that something was dragging on the rear wheel.  Which means I've been working a lot harder than I had to.  I tried to fix it but it's gonna have to go back to the shop tomorrow.

  • There's a new Beyonce video out.  You know, I really want to like her because I think that it's so great that transgender people are becoming more accepted in America.  Here's the new video:

Which is a total ripoff of this Bob Fosse classic (I love me some Gwen Verdon)

Today I came across this video.  Which is apparently the same choreography that Beyonce used.  This kid is tight!  I bet he rocks the shit out the dinner shift at Burger King.  OK that was mean.  I'll stop now.
