Month: August 2008

  • Sunday, August 24

I slept in and then Mr. Poe and I headed off to the Palace of the Legion of Honor for the Women Impressionists exhibit.  It was kind of a meh.  I liked the Berthe Morisot stuff but I only have so much patience for Cassatt.  I will say that it was better curated than the previous couple of exhibits I'd seen at the Palace of the Legion of Honor and I didn't find the organization of the exhibit to be distraction or irritating.  The real stand out of the day was the incredible Dale Chihuly gas that is liberally sprinkled through the museum.  It's wonderful:

Here's Mr. Poe outside of the museum.  Hello gorgeous!

This is the view of the Presidio from Camino Del Mar:

We went to Brothers restaurant for Korean food which was wonderful and then I went home and slept if off.  Then we took the dogs to the park and had dinner and then went to bed early.

  • Saturday, August 23

I headed off on a Different Spokes ride on Saturday with my friend Larry.  We had two other riders show up and I didn't know either of them.  Somehow, it had gotten past both of them that Different Spokes was the gay bike club because both of them were straight.  Ah, well, any club that would have me in it can't be too discriminatory so off we went.  We headed over the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin and then headed over to Fairfax.  Here are Todd, Larry, and Eli at the stop in Fairfax.

We headed over on Sir Francis Drake into San Geronimo Valley and then went through Samuel P Taylor Park and then over Olema Hill into Olema.  Then we climbed to the top of the valley before dropping down into Bolinas Lagoon.  It was foggy but beautiful and the tide was in which is how I like it best:

We headed over to Stinson Beach and stopped for a while.  Here are the determined beach goers.  Way to cold for me to go to the beach:

We climbed out of Stinson.  Here's Todd:

    And Larry and Eli:

    And the beautiful coastline:

We made it back into Mill Valley and stopped for lunch.  Then I went home and got showered and ready because We had friends for dinner.  Wilfredo and Mike and a different Larry showed.  Mr. Poe made wontons!

It was a lot less foggy this morning.  Which was welcome.  And it was dry.  Huzzah.

I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I stopped at the ocean a little south of Sloat for pics.  It was pretty angry looking but beautiful and it smelled wonderful.  I love the beach:

I continued on the Great Highway to Skyline to Berkshire to Country Club to Lakeshore to Ocean to San Leandro to Monterey to Diamond to Wilder where I got a flat tire.  %&*#!!!  I changed it and was on my way.  I took Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan where I got another flat tire.  %$%^*!!!  I need a new rear tire.  I changed it and continued to Valencia to Market to Sansome and into work.

And some attempted artsy photos of the museum:

I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took it to the Panhandle and then took Stanyon to Page to Steiner into Sanchez to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe had made me a wonderful birthday dinner and then we went to bed early.  I was beat.

  • Thursday, August 21

I managed to get out of the house on time this morning which was great but unfortunately it was both foggy and wet.  Oh, well.  I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Waller to Stanyon to JFK and into Golden Gate Park.  I headed over to Stow Lake where the fog was very thick and it was a little creepy:

I headed over to MLK and took that to La Playa to The Great Highway.  I followed that down the coast and stopped a little south of Sloat for a pic pf the ocean in the fog:

    Me with ocean behind me:

I continued on the Great Highway to Skyline to Lake Merced to Winston to Cerritos to Ocean.  I stopped for a pic of the tudorlicious coffee place on Ocean at Faxon:

I took Faxon to Southwood to Plymouth to Greenwood to Hazelwood to Staples to Foerster to Monterey to Diamond to Chenery to Randall to San Jose.  This is Randall at San Jose looking towards Bernal Hill.  Which you can't see at all beacause of the fog.  But the sun is just starting to burn it off:

I took San Jose to 29th to Tiffany to Valencia to 14th to Folsom to Fremont to Sacramento to Sansome and into work.

  • Wednesday, August 20

I slept in and just came down Market into work in the morning and then headed home for lunch to check on dogs.  After work I headed off Market to Turk to Arguello to Cabrillo to Funston and into Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden.  Which still really smells like mildew.  Can't they do something about that??  I got on JFK and took it to Bernice Rodgers toMLK to La Playa to the Great Highway to Cutler to 47th to Vicente.  It was seriously foggy in the Sunset:

    Me at Sunset and Vicente:

I continued on Vicente to 18th to Ulloa to 17th to Taravel to Vasquez to Garcia where I stopped for a pic of the gloomy, gloomy fog:

I continued on Garcia to Idora to Laguna Honda to Portola.  Where it was very sunny.  I just don't get it.  Here's proof:

But you could still see the fog rolling in:

I continued on Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe had to work late so I took the dogs to the park where Rufus behaved himself (!) and Ashley was enchanting as usual.

  • Tuesday, August 19

Mr. Poe and I got married again in a little ceremony at city hall followed by a lovely lunch at the Palace.  Our friends Nathan and Daniel, Mr Chris and David and Courtney and Regan came to the ceremony and Chris's mother Carolyn joined all of us for lunch.

City hall is a beautiful venue for a wedding.  It's such a glorious building:

My friend Nathan took the rest of the pics.  He's got a great camera and he takes wonderful pictures that tend to be my favorite.  My Xanga profile pic??  It's a Nathan too.  It will be worth more when he dies.

In the East Hall waiting for the ceremony:

We got married at the top of the grand staircase:

    Mr. Poe looking statuesque:

    The ceremony:

    Pics from lunch after:

After lunch we headed home and took the dogs to the park. It was a perfect day.
