Wednesday I came into work down Market and went to the gym before work.  I headed home for lunch and wasn't feeling a long ride after work so I went and hung out with Mr. Chris instead.  We watched a rerun of Rupaul's Drag Race and Mr. Chris noted that the tan line I've got along my jaw from the strap of my bicycle helmet totally looks like Latrice Royale's contouring.  Which is absolutely true but still, Mr. Chris is a bitch.  I headed up Market and my keys fell out of my pocket at around Haight and some guys picked them up and caught up to me to return them.  So nice.  That would have really fucked up my day.  I got home and made the dogs and I dinner because Mr. Poe had to work late.  After dinner I watched TV and waited for Mr. Poe to get home.  I was totally exhausted and made plans to work from home on Thursday.

Tuesday was another hot one in the Bay Area and even San Francisco roasted in the low 90's.  I took advantage of the warm weather and went for a nice ride before work.  There won't be many mornings like this before winter sets in.  I headed off Corbett and stopped at Portola for pics of sunrise:

    .

I took Portola to Evelyn to Teresita to Isola to Rockdale to Omar to Sequoia to Bella Vista to Burlwood.  This is the view looking down Bella Vista from Burlwood:

I took Burlwood to Los Palmos to Hazelwood to Yerba Buena to Brentwood to Fernwood to El Verano into Northgate to Darien.  This pretty house on Darien at San Benito has recently been redone and looks fantastic:

I continued on Darien to San Fernando to Ocean to Clearfield into 34th to Yorba to 35th to Vicente and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and stopped at Ocean Beach for pics at around Golden Gate Park:

I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and stopped by the North Windmill which looked fabulous:

Speedway Meadow was renamed 'Hellman Hollow' after late billionaire Warren Hellman who, among a zillion other things, helped finance the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival held hear every year.  They're setting up for it now.  It's going to be quite a to do:

I continued on JFK and got a nice shot of the De Young with sprinklers:

I came out of the park at 8th.  This is pretty Star of the Sea on Geary at 8th:

I continued on 8th to Lake to Arguello to Clay to Broderick to Jackson to Scott to Pacific.  These pretty Victorians are on Pacific at Pierce:

The view down Pierce from Pacific:

Daddy's bike leaning against a tree:

I continued on Pacific to Powell to Jackson to Columbus and got a nice pic of the Transamerica Pyramid:

I continued on Columbus to Clay to Sansome and into work.

I had lunch at my desk and went to the gym in the afternoon and then went for a nice ride after work.  I headed off Columbus to Stockton to North Point.  This is pretty Ghirardelli Square:

I continued on North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Laguna to Bay to Cervantes to Marina.  Here's a view of the Marina:

I headed into the Presidio and made my way over to Crissy Field:

I continued towards Fort Point and got a bunch of pics:

    The hotness!

I headed up to Lincoln and made my way over to Immigrant Point:

I came out of the Presidio at the 15th Ave Gate and took Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 14th to Fulton and into Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden.  I'd hoped that the hot spell had prompted some blooming.  I was disappointed:

I headed over to the Music Concourse and got a few last pics:

I took MLK and came out of the park at 9th to Judah to 7th into Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett and home for dinner.  After dinner I got a little work done and then we went bed early.

Monday I came down Market in the morning and went to the gym before work.  When I was getting dressed at first I thought that there was a woman in the locker room but then I realized that it was a transgendered male to female who was on hormone therapy but still had male genitals.  I could tell that she was on hormone therapy because her skin had a different tone than a male's and also because she had developed breasts.  I really struggle to understand what transgendered people are going through.  I just don't get it.  Recognizing that you don't understand something is the first step in learning to understand it which is something everybody should realize.  I certainly admire the courage of her conviction to go to the gym in the Financial District which must be one of the more conservative in the city when she could go to the one in the Castro where the possibility of experiencing discrimination would certainly be lessened.  I have to say that nobody raised an eyebrow although I almost did over her broke-down pedi but we all have our off days.  Something that surprised me was that I thought that when a male started on hormone therapy their male genitals would shrink.  I now know that isn't necessarily true because girlfriend was packin'.

I headed home for lunch and then went for a nice ride after work.  It's very warm in the Bay Area this week so I know I wanted to head to the coast.  I headed off Sutter to Polk to Pacific to Webster to Clay to Spruce to Washington.  This ginormous house is currently for sale and is super fantastic.  There's a great photo of it after the 1906 earthquake with its portico collapsed.  I looked but couldn't find it:

I continued on Washington to Arguello to Lake to 25th to Camino Del Mar.  I stopped for a few pics of Sea Cliff on the lovely afternoon:

I continued on Camino Del Mar to 32nd to Clement to 34th to Balboa and down to the coast.  I stopped for some pics of Ocean Beach on a rare beach day:

I took the Great Highway to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  After dinner I redid my pedi in honor of the trans lady I'd seen earlier in the day.

I started tracking my mileage five years ago today because I wanted to see if I could ride 10,000 miles in a year (which I did).  Today that total hit 40,000 which is kind of crazy if you think about it.  It's been a hell of a ride.

Sunday I had a Different Spokes ride on the calendar but nobody rsvp'd so I slept in and headed out on my bike a little later in the day.  I'd thought about doing Lucas Valley but it was gonna be really hot so I thought I should head out to the coast.  I went to Fairfax and then out to Samuel P Taylor park.  The park is super pretty and I got a couple pics:

I headed to Olema and then south on the one.  There are always a bunch of 'eek!' moments on the one because the road is pretty narrow and cars pass you way too close.  But I managed.  Right before at the top of Olema Valley is a beautiful grove of Eucalyptus.  I got a nice pic:

From there I dropped down to Bolinas Lagoon.  The tide was in and it looked fantastic:

I headed into Stinson and stopped for snack.  Me:

Then I started the long as climb out of Stinson.  I took a bunch of pics as I headed toward Mill Valley.  The beach was packed:

I think this is called Redrock beach.  It was full of naked people playing frisbee.  I love California:

You can see San Francisco in the background:

This is the view looking down to Muir Beach from the top of the canyon right before the drop into Mill Valley starts:

I headed into Mill Valley and had lunch at Cafe Del Soul which was awesome and I loved it.  Then I headed back to San Francisco.  I went through Fort Baker and stopped for a few pics.  Perfect day:

I headed over the bridge and started heading home.  Some Swiss guy asked me directions and I ended up taking him into Japantown because I didn't like the idea of him riding Geary from Arguello to Union Square.  My good deed for the day.  I got home around 5PM and I hung out with Mr. Poe.  I went to bed at 8PM.  I would have gone to bed earlier but I forced myself to stay up.

My YTD bike mileage hit 6,000 today and I'm really happy about that.  I'm really wanting to him my 8k goal this year.

Thursday I came into work down Market and went to the gym in the morning.  I headed home for lunch and then went home a little early up Market and finished working from home.  My new workout schedule's killing me and I was really, really tired.  I got a nice pic of Ashley Junior in Mr. Poe's sarong:

Friday I slept in and came down Market into work and then went home the same way after.  Still really beat.  Saturday we went to the grocery store in the morning and I spent a bit of the afternoon power washing parts of our kitchen range.  Which were completely disgusting.  I don't think I got all the funk off of them but I got enough of it.  Next time it's gonna be a wire brush power wash combination.
