I worked from home on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday I came into work Market to Laguna to Grove to Polk to Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome.  I didn't go home for lunch because I had to deal with some phone drama. My Iphone and Ipod both died on Sunday--  my Ipod ended up in the washing machine and my phone stopped recognizing its SIM card.  I was neither sad nor bitter because that meant that I was finally able to fulfill my lifelong dream of breaking up with AT&T over their crappy service and moving on to sexy, agreeable Verizon.  My contract's been up for a over a year but it took the phone to actually stop working to move its replacement to the top of my list.  I headed over to the Apple store over lunch and got Mr. Poe and I new phones and I also got an Ipod.  I'm really looking forward to many, many months of Mr. Poe not being able to figure out how to use his phone and blaming me for it.  At least I'm not going to have to deal with his annoying habit of keeping his phone turned off because I didn't show him how to turn off his Iphone.  After I left Apple, I headed over to Sanrio and got a fetching case for my new phone that is sure to make me the envy of all of my friends.

I stopped by the downtown comic book store on the way back to the office.  I'm way behind on comics this summer.  I've been busy and I've haven't been either buying or reading them which is a shame because there's a lot going on with the Avengers v X-Men series.  Stay tuned!

I came home up Market after work.  I was beat and it didn't trust Mr. Poe to successfully execute the crabcakes that they were having for dinner.  I wish I'd gotten a pic of them because they turned out really well--  probably the best I'd ever done.  I sauteed them in half oil and half butter and that made a big difference.  After dinner I got a little work done and then went to bed early.

Sunday I went for a walk with Nathan through North Beach and Telegraph Hill.  I noticed this hotel on my way to pick up Nathan.  This hotel seems to be a recent addition and I love it.  The window shades are cheeky prints and they look fabulous.  Approved:

First we headed up over Russian Hill.  This is the view looking down Broadway from Taylor:

    Miss Smith:

Then we headed over to North Beach.  Here's Miss Smith working his sweet dumper:

Jack Early Park was open which was a treat:

Then we headed down over Telegraph Hill and then down the Filbert Steps.  We saw these cool egg shaped things in somebody's garden:

I headed over to Mr. Chris's and he took me to Costco where I purchased a surprising amount of cheese for a vegan.  Then I headed home for dinner.  Mr. Poe's sister and neice are in town for the week so there's bound to be a bunch of excitement.

Saturday I led a Different Spokes ride up Mount Tam.  Twice.  I knew it was a bad idea.  Astute readers will notice I hadn't been on a bike since June 18 and the weather forecast was hot.  But I put it on the calendar and I had 2 RSVP's and one of them was Will Bir and I canceled the ride the last time he RSVP'd and I knew I either had to ride or be exposed as a complete fraud.  At least it was nice in the morning.  We had a nice ride over to Marin and then up the mountain starting in Mill Valley.  Here's Gordon almost at the top:

Sutro Tower rising on an island of fog.

    David and Will:

    Alpine Dam:

    Alpine Dam Lake:

We climbed out of Alpine Dam Lake and it was getting very hot.  I got a pic of it from almost at the top:

    Heading down towards Fairfax:

We headed down into Fairfax for snack and we met David Gaus and his team who were doing a similar ride to us but only one trip over the mountain.  He had a bunch of riders and we were soon retracing our steps to Alpine Dam Lake.  It had gotten a lot warmer and I was not happy.  I live in Northern California and I'm only comfortable in temperatures between 60 and 75.  I didn't have a thermometer but it must have been about a million degrees.  I was not happy.  But sooner or later we made out way back to Alpine Dam Lake and I took some pics of the group:

    Hot tamale David Gaus:

From there we climbed up to the top of Tam.  It was super hot and I didn't look pretty.  But the view was spectacular and in retrospect was totally worth it:

    Me--  notice all the cleavage:

The view of San Francisco from the top of Tam:

The heat was killing me.  I had to stop a couple of times to get it together but I finally made it to Pan Toll and then down into Mill Valley.  We had lunch and then headed home to San Francisco.  Thank Goodness!  I was totally beat.  I'm going to bed early tonite!

We had a fourth of July party and Mr Chris and David, Richard and Ron, and Miss Smith showed.  I made Mexican Food and everything turned out really well.  Most spectacular were the appetizers:

This is cheddar cheese wrapped in bacon dredged in parmesan cheese and deep fried.  How could such a thing be bad???

Everybody was gone by 6PM and we hung out a little and then went to bed.  It was a very long day.

I've been so very, very lazy.  I've been working from home and not riding at all.  I'm not feeling very bad about it because it seems to be the same every year for the month or so after the Lifecycle.  Sunday was pretty awful weather wise.  It managed to be both hot and very foggy which translates to damo, sticky, and unpleasant.  I took Rufus out for a walk in the afternoon (Rufus like to go!) and we headed over to Dolores Park.  I took a pic of the from the top before we headed home:

I headed home and tried to dry off.
