Monday I came into work 18th to Harrison to 17th to Kansas to Townsend to the Embarcadero.  I stopped for a pic of the fabulous Bay Bridge:

I was pretty beat from the weekend cycling so I had burrito from Tlaloc for lunch and then went home early straight up Market.  I was hoping that I hadn’t left them so long that there would be accidents and I hadn’t.  Huzzah!  Mr Poe came home and then we had dinner and made some summer plans.

Mr. Chris and David gave us an enormous Le Creuset pot for Christmas and I still hadn’t sent them a thank you card.  I was gonna send one but then I had a better idea.  I let a clearly unamused Ashley Junior exhibit its dimensions.

I didn’t sleep well on Saturday night.  It’s often like that after a long ride.  You’d think I’d sleep like the dead but no.  I crawled out of bed on Sunday morning and headed over for my CAT2 ride out to Tiburon.  I definitely felt like I’d done a long ride the day before but felt otherwise pretty good.  The weather was good and we had a nice turnout.  I rode ahead of the riders for the first part of the ride so I could be in position to point directions at Paradise and Trestle Glen in Tiburon.  I showed up at the stop first where I saw my friend Phillip who’s in traction for a few more weeks recovering from a crash.  Still he’s all smiles:

Beau gave me a ride home and I was in the house at about 2:30 which is a pretty good time I thought.  I got cleaned up and started working on stuff for Elaine’s birthday party.  Mr. Poe made most of the food but I made appetizer and dessert.  Shrimps with Korean dipping sauce:

Saturday I managed to get myself out of bed and I went for a great ride.  I thought I’d posted a ride on the Different Spokes calendar and hadn’t gotten any interest which isn’t unusual for longer rides especially this time of year.  But I ran into super cute David Sexton in Sausalito and he pointed out that in fact I’d posted that ride for tomorrow which I have an ALC conflict for.  Which is totally something I would do.  I ended up going for a little bit of a longer ride than I’d originally intended and it was a very good day.  I headed to Petaluma and then went home through Novato.  I got in my first century of the year and I’m happy about that.  I felt pretty good but I was got very tired in the last 20 or so miles and I was concerned that I was gonna get a ticket for impersonating a corpse.  The west side of the bridge is closed again and it’s a big pain in the ass with all the bikes and pedestrians on the east side but it isn’t nearly as busy as it was in the summer and I think it’s gonna be OK.  I’ve put the same ride on the Calendar for next week– I got the day right this time.  Here’s hoping for good weather.

The weekend wasn’t the greatest for riding.  Saturday was dry but it was freezin’ cold.  I didn’t get any RSVP’s for my  Different Spokes ride so I elected to stay in bed which wasn’t exactly a good decision yet it was the decision I made.  Today it’s been cold and pouring down rain since about 9AM and I felt great about staying off the bike.  I visited with Mr. Chris in the afternoon and got some pics from the Folsom St. Muni platform on the way home.

Tuesday was super cold in San Francisco and I came into work on Muni rather than freezin’ my fajitas off because my fajitas are not to be frozen.  Wednesday was a bit warmer and I came into work Market to 14th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome.  I headed home for lunch and then I went for a nice ride after work.  I headed down Sutter and stopped at about Leavenworth for a pic of the setting sun:

Monday I led a Different Spokes ride out to the Cheese Factory.  It was the longest ride I’d done since the Lifecycle and I’m so very out of shape.  I have a lot of work to do if I’m going to win the Lifecycle again this year.  It was pretty cold and we were all bundled up.  Here’s Peter and David at the Cheese Factory:

I was slower than Peter and David and they didn’t stop in Fairfax on the way home so I lumbered back on my own.  It was freezing and I was exhausted when I got home.  Mr. Poe made me dinner from the leftover Korean food from the night before and I tried to watch a movie but was too tired to pay attention so I went to bed.

I stopped back at First Korean Market on the way home to get a few more things I needed.  I can report that I can fit two enormous bottles of Sake in my Camelback.  Good to know.  I headed home and got cleaned up and cooked dinner.  Mr. Poe made a beef roast and some ribs and I made all sorts of Korean stuff with pineapple upside down cake with homemade vanilla ice cream for dessert.  Everything turned out really well.  Here’s Regan, Courtney and Ben with massive amounts of food:

Friday night my watch which is also my alarm clock died while I slept and I didn’t get up early enough to on the monthly Different Spokes Jersey Ride.  Mr. Poe says I was just being lazy and maybe there’s something to that but I had to fit in a trip to Union Square to get it fixed on top of the other stuff I had to do and I didn’t see how that was gonna get done with me on the bike all day.  I met Nathan in the afternoon and we went for a nice walk to North Beach and into Chinatown where the New Years celebrations were in full swing.  Gung hay fat choy!:

I went and got my watch fixed and then got on the Geary bus and headed to my new favorite grocery store–  First Korean Market on Geary at 11th.  They’ve got everything you need for Korean cooking and they’re very nice although neither of the women who works there has the greatest english in the world.  I got stuff for the dinner party we were having on Sunday night including this enigmatic snack:

Mr. Poe picked me up from there and we headed home for dinner.  After dinner I made some more travel plans for the Lifecycle.  It’s too early to make plane reservations but hotels are already filling up expecially in LA because it’s Pride weekend so I needed to get all that in.  I’m planning on princessing in Paso Robles and Lompoc and then I’m gonna stay in LA for a couple of days after the ride.  My friend Jim is gonna be a roadie and we’re planning a boozy bender for after the ride.  I’m thinking I’m gonna come back to San Francisco on the train which I’ve never done and will either be awesome or endless I’m not sure which.  I headed to bed after I was beat.

Tuesday the weather was gorgeous as it’s been so for this year.  I came into work Market to Laguna to Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into the office.  I got some pics as I headed home for lunch.  This is the beautiful Golden Gate Theater at Taylor and Golden Gate:
