Thursday was a lot cooler than Wednesday.  Thankfully.  I came into work Eureka to Market to 14th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome.  I headed home for lunch and then went on a nice ride after work.  The first thing I noticed was a big ass protest in front of Chase at 2nd and Market.  I think they might have been protesting fees.  Seriously  <update>  It looks like they were protesting foreclosures.  Or so they say, more likely it was debit card fees:

I took 2nd to Townsend to the circle at Townsend and Divission to get some pics of the pretty sculpture there:

I took Kansas to 17th to Florida to 18th to Alabama.  This is an old part of St. Peter’s School at Florida between 24th and 25th.  It isn’t in the greatest shape and has been the victim of some suspect renovation:

However it still has this fabulous entrance:

This mural is on the side of the Eleanor Harwood Gallery at Alabama and 25th.  It’s so cute!

And the detail is fabulous.  I love the rock on the left especially.  Mimi gets the same look on her face when she has to poop.

I continued on Alabama to 26th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Monterrey into Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Judah to 9th and into Golden Gate Park.  I headed over to the Music Concourse and stopped for pics of the De Young:

Wednesday was almost two hot for me.  It got into the upper eighties in the afternoon in the city and that’s pretty sticky for San Francisco.  I came down Eureka to Market to 14th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome into work and headed home for lunch.  I almost didn’t go riding after work because of the heat but I figured it would be a lot cooler at the coast and I was not disappointed.  I headed of Sutter to Broderick to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton to the Great Highway.  I stopped for some pics of the beach.  The weather was still gorgeous and the beach was pretty busy:

I continued south on the Great Highway and noted that they are almost finished with the South Windmill.  Finally!  I’ll head back there next week to investigate:

I continued on the Great Highway to Taravel to Dewy to Pacheco to Merced to Hernandez to Portola to Corbett and home for dinner.  After dinner I stayed up late working on my homework.  Let’s hope it’s a little cooler tomorrow!

The weather was gorgeous on Monday.  Sunny and warm–  I’ll take it!  I came into work 17th to Eureka to Market to Laguna to Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome.  I headed home for lunch and went for a short ride after work.  I headed off Sansome to Jackson to Davis to drop off my laundry and then Broadway to Columbus to Stockton to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Octavia to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio a the Lombard Gate.  They’re renovating a couple of buildings in the Presidio into an inn.  I think it should be very nice when it’s done:

They’re also redoing the old officer’s club into a restaurant.  Mr. Poe says it’s supposed to be a super fantastic wedding venue when they’re done:

I headed over to Arguello to Jackson to Cherry to Washington to Laurel to Clay to Fillmore to Post to Laguna.  I stopped at Fell for some pics:

I continued on Laguna to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  I had to get some work done and then I went to bed.  It was a fun day.

The wedding houseguests finally left on Tuesday morning and it took the rest of the week to get our lives back to normal.  The dogs are exhausted and so are we.  We had a bunch of stuff to take care of on Saturday but I did manage to get out on my bike on Sunday afternoon.  there was a little rain working its way through the area but it was very little and I didn’t actually get wet.  I headed off up Corbett and stopped at Portola for pics of the city:

The Bay Bridge with One Rincon Center and the Infinity Towers:

    The view looking East:

Me.  Note the epic 70′s porn-stache I’d given myself in honor of Folsom Street Fair.  I didn’t actually go– it’s way too gross– but I had the look:

I took Portola to Fowler to Teresita to Gaviota to Bella Vista to Burlwood to Los Palmos to Hazelwood to Yerba Buena to Brentwood to Maywood to El Verano into North Gate to Darien to San Fernando to Ocean to Inverness to Eucalyptus to Clearfield to Gellert to Ocean to Sunset to Lake Merced to Skyline where I stopped for pics of pretty Lake Merced:

I took this one from inside Harding Park:

I continued on Skyline and stopped a near the Olympic Club for pics of the coast.  It was a little foggier than I’d expected:

I continued on Skyline to John Daly and stopped at Lake Merced for a pic of pretty Joe’s of Westlake:

I took Lake Merced and detoured to look around the Lake Merced Hill community which is pretty ugly yet judging from the cars, expensive.  Who knew?  I got back on Lake Merced and took that to Brotherhood to Alemeny to Geneva to Ocean to Phelan to Judson to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood to Miramar to Northwood to Kenwood to North Gate to Monterrey into Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Hugo to 3rd to Frederick to Cole where I stopped for a pic of the Cole Valley street festival:

I continued on Cole to Carl to Clayton to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  Fun Ride!

Saturday we went to the post wedding brunch.  They spelled Nick’s lat name wrong with hilarious consequences.  Stroka is a porn star name:

After brunch we had the rest of the day to ourselves.  I still could barely walk so Mr. Poe suggested a bus tour.  Does Mr. Poe ever love a bus tour.  This one wasn’t exactly a bus so much as a bunch of seats on flat bed with no seat belts.  Evidence:

It turned out to be a good idea.  We saw pretty much everything.  Yosemite is very, very majestic:

    Me and my Govna:

    Hello gorgeous:

When we finished the bus tour we got in the car and Mr. Poe drove me up to Glacier Point.  Awesome:

We got back late in the afternoon and I spent the rest of the afternoon feeding chips to birds and squirrels.  There are signs literally everywhere that tell you not to feed the animals but I defy you to say no to this face:

From there we headed off to a BBQ and then we went home and went to bed.  It had been a very long day.

Quela, Jennifer, and Athena came to town on Wednesday night and were off first thing Thursday. I hadn’t seen them in a while and it was great fun to see them again.   I made them breakfast on Thursday and saw them off.  I spent the rest of the day hanging out and still trying to recover from my walk on Tuesday.  Mr. Poe took to calling me ‘ass foot’ because he said my swollen foot looked like a butt.  He’s called my worse and for good reason.

Friday was Mr. Nick’s wedding.  It was a day I’d been looking forward to for a very long time and I was very, very happy to see it arrive.  The wedding was in Yosemite at the Ahwahnee and it was beautiful:

    Mr. Nick, me, and Quela:

Apparently the reception got pretty raucous towards the end of the evening but I’d long gone to bed by then because of my advanced age.  It was a fabulous day.

Monday night Nick came in prior to his wedding and Tuesday we planned a truly epic walk.  His Bachelor Walk.  We walked around the city from the Castro to Noe Valley to Diamond Heights to Glen Park to Sunnyside to Ingleside to Saint Francis Wood to Forest Hill to Golden Gate Heights to the Sunset to Golden Gate Park to the Richmond for lunch at Mandalay and then down to Telegraph Hill and finally to a cab at Sansome and Greenwich.  Mileage came in at about 20 miles.  It was a whole lot of fun but it totally kicked my ass.  I had horrible blisters and my right foot was swollen for the rest of the week.  But it was totally worth it.

We made it home around 6:30.  Nathan joined us and I did my best to crank out some dinner.  Mr. Poe was home 9:30 and we went to bed.  I was completely exhausted.

Sunday I got up and made Jess and her Mom breakfast and then headed out on my bike.  I wanted to avoid the Golden Gate Bridge because there was a breast cancer walk and it was gonna be crazy on the bike path in Marin so I rode 17th to Eureka to Market to Laguna to Post to Steiner to Sacramento to Spruce to Washington to Cherry to Jackson to Arguello and into the Presidio.  They’ve been taking a bunch of eucalyptus trees down in the Presidio and the result has been fabulous views until their replacements grow in.  This is the view from Arguello just before Washington:

Then I headed over to the WWII memorial.  Which is really very well done:

I got on Lincoln and stopped for a pic a little west of the Golden Gate Bridge:

I continued on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor:

I headed down to 34th to Cabrillo to 47th and into Golden Gate Park.  I headed over to the West Windmill to see how the work is progressing.  Looking good:

I took the Great Highway to John Muir to Lake Merced to Coronado to S Park Plaza to 87th to Washington to San Pedro to East Market into Guadalupe Canyon Blvd to Bayshore to Geneva to Ocean to Phelan and I stopped for a pic of the pretty Benny Bufano sculpture in front of the City College:

Then I went to go have a look at the old reservoir across the street from City College where they apparently have motorcycle gangs on weekends.  Love it:

I continued on Phelan to Judson to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Colon to Monterey to Yerba Buena to Brentwood to Melrose to Stanford Heights to Los Palmos to Teresita to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home.  I got showered in a hurry and we headed down for lunch at the Bloomingdale mall and then up to Nathans for a while where we hung out with Nathan and Mr. Chris.  Afterwards we headed home and got started on dinner for Jess and her mom.  It was a fun day.

We’ve got wedding fever on Ord Court this week.  Nick, one of my favoritest people ever,  gets married in Yosemite on the 16th and it seems like the entire wedding party is staying at our house at some point either before or after the event.  We had Jess and her mom staying with us this weekend.  They did a bunch of sightseeing and Mr. Poe and I did our best to pamper them before they headed off.  Saturday I got up and made them breakfast and then ran errands with Mr. Poe.  After lunch I think I got the best pics of the boys I’ve ever gotten.  Adorable:

Then I headed out on my bike and rode the Tiburon Loop.  I wanted to go in the morning with Different Spokes but I couldn’t get out of the house in the morning because of the house guests but I was free in the afternoon.  The west side of the Golden Gate Bridge had been closed since June and I’ve been not going across the bridge because I wanted to avoid the shit show on the east side as bikers and pedestrians try to coexist.  The weather was pretty foggy but I was certainly not complaining.  I headed over Camino Alto and then took Paradise to Tiburon.  I stopped at Sharks and then headed over to Tiburon for pics:

    Me:

This is the view from the bike path in Mill Valley:

I headed over to Fort Baker and stopped for pics of Horseshoe Bay:

Fort Baker has the most glamorous view of the Golden Gate Bridge:

I headed home for dinner.  It was so fabulous to be able to go over the bridge again.  Little Joseph, happy at last.
