I managed to get my ass out of bed this morning and I went for a nice ride before work.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down the coast.   The Great Highway is open south of Sloat for the first time this year which is great news.  I continued down to Skyline and stopped for a morning pic of Lake Merced:

I took Skyline to Lake Merced to Fonto to Holloway to Harold to Ocean to Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Hearst to Edna to Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington.  This house on Arlington has the best Halloween decorations year after year.  Not as fabulous as their Sarah Palin display from two years ago, but still pretty awesome:

I continued on Arlington to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 17th to Kansas.  This pretty building is on Kansas in the Design District:

I took Kansas into Townsend and stopped at 4th for a pic.  I love South Beach.  It's a great neighborhood:

These amazing sculptures are on Townsend at 3rd:

I continued on Townsend to 2nd to Market to Sansome and into work.

I slept in on Wednesday and just came down Market into work.  I did make it home for lunch.  After work I went for a nice ride.  Second time this week.  Which, sadly, seems to be a record.  Here's hoping I do better for the rest of the year.  I headed off 2nd to Howard and got a pic of pretty, decaying St. Joseph's at 11th:

I took 11th to Harrison to 23rd.  This is pretty Mission Presbyterian at 23rd and Capp:

    Very nice detail:

This is the view at Mission at 23rd:

Fabulously done.  I think it's missing a complex attic level and likely a conical roof:

I continued on 23rd to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamon to Monterey.  I stopped at Montery and Santa Clara for a few pics:

    Me:

I continued on Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Judah to 9th into Golden Gate Park.  I stopped at the Music Concourse for a pic of the De Young right around sunset.  It was pretty gloomy in the park:

I got on JFK to 8th to Cabrillo to Arguello to Turk to Baker to Hayes to Scott to Duboce to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe was feeling under the weather and left me to fend for myself for dinner.   I can feed myself, but I gotta have some time to think about it or it's going to be pretty crappy.  Which is why I had chips and salsa, tater tots and hummus on toast for dinner.  Not my best meal planning.  I got the house cleaned up and worked on my homework and then went to bed.

I didn't go home for lunch on Tuesday and then lazily made my way up Market Street after work.  I had dinner with Mr Poe, walked the dogs and then we all went to bed early.

I actually made it out of bed this morning and went for a ride which amazed both me and the dogs who were a little irritated when everybody was up at 5:20 this morning.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Ulloa to Laguna Honda to Hernandez to Merced to Pacheco to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and then got on Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  It was very, very foggy:

I took Camino Del Mar to Lake to Arguello to Clay .  It was still very foggy when I got to Pacific Heights.  I stopped at Clay and Steiner for pics:

    Me:

I continued on Clay to Fillmore to Pacific to Powell to Jackson.  I stopped at Grant for pics of Chinatown:

I continued on Jackson to Columbus to Montgomery to Clay to Sansome and into work.  The fog was already starting to clear in the Financial District.  It's gonna be a beautiful day.

Predictably, I slept in and just came down Market into work.  I did manage to make it home over lunch but the real shocker is that I actually went for a ride after work which I haven't done in a while due to my extreme laziness.  I headed off down Sutter and stopped at Buchanan to get a pic of Japantown:

I continued on Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Spruce to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 8th.  This is the intersection on Clay and California:

    Me at Clay and California:

I continued on 8th to Cabrillo to Funston to Fulton and into Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden.  It's almost all over for the season at the Rose Garden:

I headed over to JFK and stopped at Spreckels Lake for a pic of the foggy evening:

I continued on JFK to Bernice Rodgers to MLK to the Great Highway and down the coast.  I saw the cleanup from a big accident and I can't quite imagine what had happened that resulted in this truck being in this position with this amount of damage:

    Foggy day at the beach:

I continued on the Great Highway to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  There was a new Scooby on which was pretty awesome.  After, I walked the dogs and we went to bed early.  It was a long day.

I wanted to go riding this morning but the lack or rsvp's for my different spokes ride and the general gloom hanging over the city when I woke up put me off that.  And I'm so glad I stayed in bed because the rain came in mid morning and that wouldn't have been much fun to ride in.  My second choice which was a long walk for Rufus also seems to have been rained out which is a shame because Rufus loves to go!

I've been exceedingly lazy all week.  It's shocking, really.  I came down Market into work and home the same way Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and worked from home on Wednesday so there was no biking at all.  And the weather's been lovely.  I really can't explain it.  Let's hope I have better luck next week.

I skipped the jersey ride this month because I had to stay in and cook for a party we're having on Sunday.  Also, we took the dogs to the groomers on Saturday and shuttling them to and from is most certainly a two man process.  We went to the store and came home and had lunch and then Mr. Poe laid down for a nap and I started cooking.  He seems to sleep the soundest when I'm working:

I started off with cookies for Mr. Poe.  He has to bring treats to work and his idea was to bring some horrifying frozen pie that should come with an apology and is likely to instill anger in anybody eating it.  So I made a large number of chocolate and butterscotch chip cookies and I think they should make him a bit more popular:

Then I moved on to the hard part.  I made tamales.  Mr. Poe had made pork for them the night before and I made a chili paste that went into it.  Note to self:  do not handle dried chili's and then try to put in your contacts without washing your hands.  Ouch.  Then it was a matter of mixing up the masa batter, spreading some of it on a corn jusk, adding filling and then steaming them.  This is what they looked like post assembly pre steaming.

I made some vegan ones for me that have refried beans and them and they're delicious too.  Tamales freeze, reheat, and microwave beautifully.  But they are so amazing the day they are made.  Fresh masa in incredible.  It's very good reheated but nothing beats tamales fresh out of the steamer.

We went to dinner at Ben and Courtney's where she made this delicious Mexican thing and even had vegan Daiya cheese for me which was a total treat.  Ben was making these margaritas that tasted innocent enough but were in fact incredible strong and left me fairly liquored up.  Mr. Poe drove us home after and I went to bed.  I was beat.

Friday I wasn't on the bike at all.  I worked from home in the morning and then went into work after my dentist appointment at noon.  After work I headed over to Union Square on my way to Nathan's.  I got some nice pics even off of my crappy iphone from Grant:

I headed over to Nathan who just got some new furniture and agreed to sit for a Grant Woods style photo of him luxuriating in his apartment:

We hung out there and then headed over to the Clift hotel for cocktails and snacks because Nathan likes to spend $12 on a drink.  The hotel is vaguely interesting mostly because it has had a bunch of very noticable renovations.  I managed to get some pics:

    Miss Smith:

I made it home in time to walk the dogs and then we went to bed.

Thursday was another unproductive day on the bicycle.  I came down Market in the morning, went home  for lunch, and then headed home the same way after work.  I snapped a pic of the view looking up Market from Octavia as I headed home.  I love the view of the sun going down behind the crane:
