After work Friday I headed off Sutter to Fillmore. I paused to mourn the loss of our beloved Shu Uemura store on Fillmore which closed because the brand has pulled out of the US market. I’ll miss their pretty displays and their cleansing oil which removes every last trace of waterproof sunscreen. You can still buy their stuff online but if I have to shop online anyway, I’ll probably go for Jill Stuart:
I continued on Fillmore to Clay to Locust to Washington and into Presidio Terraces which is a gorgeous private neighborhood off of Arguello which, when it opened in 1906, proclaimed itself as San Francisco’s first all white neighborhood. It has beautiful homes despite the bigot part:
This home is new and in the Santa Fe style and I am not a fan. Not a fan at all. Don’t get me wrong, I love the architectural diversity in San Francisco but the whole point of the Santa Fe style is how it fits in with the landscape and this house neither fits in with landscape nor its neighbors and it just looks off. What were they thinking??

I took Arguello to Lake to 8th and into Golden Gate Park. I got on JFK and then headed over to lovely Stow Lake to look at the Chinese Pavilion:

I got on MLK to the Great Highway. This is the beach chalet which is such a pretty building and the food is good as well. It’s got a great view of the beach and it’s sheltered which is nice on a summer like the one we’ve had:
I went back into Golden Gate Park at JFK and stopped at the North Windmill for pics:
I took JFK to the Panhandle to Stanyan to Page to Scott to Duboce to Castro to 17th to Ord and home for dinner. I was really, really beat.
