We've got a houseguest for a couple of days!  Mr. David dropped offed Sofi to stay with us while he and Mr. Chris are on vacation in Washington DC.  I love having Sofi!  She's the sweetest things and the dogs all love her.  Even Mimi.  Well maybe Mimi loves to hate her.  I worked from home in the morning to get everybody settled and then came down Market after lunch.  I headed home after work up Market again and managed to walk all four of them after dinner.

It was rainy towards the end of the day and so I chose a bike route that kind of circled my house so that if the weather got worse I was never more than a couple of miles from home.  I headed off Howard to 2nd to 11th to Harrison.  This building on Harrison has been recently renovated and looks fantastic:

    The big building next door:

I continued on Harrison to 22nd to Valencia.  I love the City College campus on Valencia.  It's Aztec-licious:

I continued on Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey.  I could see a storm moving in:

    Me:

I continued on to Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey to Laguna Honda to 7th to Jaduah to 9th into Golden Gate Park.  I rode past the Music Concourse and took JFK to 8th to Cabrillo to Arguello to Euclid to Jordan to Commonwealth and I stopped for pics at St. Gregory the Illuminator:

Commonwealth has the nicest, biggest houses in Jordan Park.  Fabulous:

I continued on Commonwealth to California to Parker to Grove to Divisadero into Castro to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe was just getting home as he had been stuck in yet another Muni meltdown.  I'm so glad I'm not commuting on Muni anymore.

  • Monday was cool in the afternoon but the sun came out eventually.  Mr. Poe's garden is exploding.  Check out this wisteria:

The jasmine and trumpet vine have almost completely obscured the front of our house:

Unlike Golden Gate Park, we've got roses:

After work I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Walnut to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 30th to Sea View Terrace where I stopped to take some pics of the pretty Seacliff neighborhood:

I continued to California to 32nd and stopped to take pics of the steps at the top of California:

I took 32nd to Clement to 34th to Balboa to the Great Highway where I stopped for a few pics of Ocean Beach:

I took the Great Highway to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  I ate in a hurry and took Ashley down to Eye Gotcha to pick up my new glasses.  He rarely gets to go all by himself and had a great time romping about the neighborhood and meeting new people and dogs.

I had less trouble dragging my ass out of bed than I thought I would have, but I'm definitely feeling all the riding I did over the weekend.  I headed off 17th to Eureka to 18th to Harrison to Mariposa to Bryant to the Embarcadero where I stopped for pics:

    The Bay Bridge:

I took the Embarcadero to Mission to Main to California and into work.  I'm so happy to be sitting on a regular seat.  So, so happy.

Sunday was my Lifecycle training ride.  The previous two rides had been rained out and we were all happy the weather was gorgeous.  And was it ever!  Sunny and warm without getting hot.  It was wonderful.  We rode out to the Cheese Factory in Marin which is one of my favorite routes.  Loved it.

    Riders at the Cheese Factory:

Nicasio Reservoir is both full and incredibly green.  Beautiful:

    Me:

Here's the tail end of the group assembled in Fairfax on the way home:

My lifecycle group travels a bit more slowly than I would on my on and I didn't get home until about 5:30.  I was out for almost twelve hours and was totally beat.  Poor little Ashley was exhausticated from just hearing about it:

Mr. Poe made me dinner and I was asleep by 8:30.  It was a wonderful day!

Saturday I led a ride out to Marin with Different Spokes.  I planned a very difficult ride this week.   We headed over to Alpine Dam Lake then down to Stinson Beach and then home on the 1.  It was a LOT of climbing but it was lots of fun and I think we all did pretty well.  It was a gorgeous, fabulous day.

We ran into my pal Ben Armstrong at the Golden Gate Bridge.  It's always such a treat to see him and look how cute he looks:

    David:

We headed over to Fairfax and then climbed up to Alpine Dam Lake.  The dam seems to be releasing a large amount of water which is such a relief because it's a sign that the drought is finally over:

David, Cameron, and Serge at the dam:

From there we climbed up to Ridgecrest Rd.  It's crazy beautiful up there-- tons of redwoods:

Then we came down Bolinas-Fairfax Road -- or BoFax to those in the know--  and headed down to Bolina Lagoon.  It was a little hazy down there but gorgeous:

    Me:

Then we headed to Stinson Beach for snack and then we started heading home on the 1.  The view was spectacular.  Check it out:

I stopped to take this picture and when I looked down it was naked hippies playing frisbee.  Now call me juvenile but it totally made my day.  Sadly, the pictures didn't turn out.

We stopped by Cafe Del Soul for lunch which was delicious as usual.  Then I headed home for dinner.  Mr. Poe had, with only a moderate degree of prompting, gotten me some delicious vegan cupcakes and a bottle of wine.  It's gonna be an extra lux evening.

I'm still not getting up early enough to go on much of a ride in the morning but I seem to be slowly needing less sleep.  I rode 17th to Eureka to 18th to Harrison to 17th to Kansas to Townsend to 2nd to Market to Sansome and into work.  I headed home for lunch and stopped by Sports Basement on the way back to work.  I have a hard time finding stuff I like at the Sports Basement.  I'm very particular about very certain brands and more often than not the stuff they have just isn't gonna cut it.  I got socks and a cute t-shirt.  Mr. Chris came and paid me a visit late in the day with Sofi.  We're gonna have her next weekend while her daddies are out of town and I can't wait!

After work I headed off Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Octavia to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I got on Lincoln and took that up to the Golden Gate Bridge and then headed over to Marin and took Conzelman to McCollough to Bunker and out to Rodeo Beach.  It was a gorgeous day at the beach and it was crawling with mouth watering surfers:

    Me:

    Rodeo Lagoon:

I headed back up Ike Turner Hill and stopped near the top for pics of Rodeo Cove:

Then it was back to Conzelman.  I stopped on my way down for pics of the Golden Gate Bridge:

I headed back over the bridge and into the Presidio.  I stopped at Immigrant Point for some final pics of a gorgeous day:

I came out of the Presidio at tht 15th ave gate and then took Lake to 8th into Golden Gate Park and then JFK to the Panhandle to Stanyan to Page to Scott to Duboce to Castro to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe was a movie so I was forced to do my own cooking.  I made this vegan hash thing that was pretty good.  It was a wonderful day for riding.

I got up a few minutes earlier Thursday and took a hillier route into work.  I rode Corbett to Clayton to Ashbury to Frederick to Masonic to Page to Market to Sansome and into work.  I stopped by the library over lunch to pick up some new books.  I still can't figure out how they can manage to make any money when all they seem to do is loan people things for free.  I think that it must be some kind of a front for drugs or something and I just need to learn the secret handshake or password or whatever it is.

After work I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Walnut to Washington to Arguello to 8th to Cabrillo to Funston and into Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden.  Which still doesn't have much going on worth taking pics of but one of the bushes is very, very fragrant.  I got on JFK to Bernice Rodgers to MLK to La Playa to the Great Highway.  I stopped at the foot of Sloat for pics of the beach:

    Me:

I took Sloat to Clearfield to Ocean.  Ocean between Junipero Serra and Sunset is a gorgeous neighborhood with many, many wonderfully tended homes in a Spanish style"

I continued on Ocean to Paloma to Moncada to Urbano to Borica to Holloway.  This is Ingleside Terraces from Holloway:

I continued on Holloway to Harold to Ocean to Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Teresita to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  I'm slightly less pissed at Mr. Poe much to his relief but I'm not gonna let him plan any part of our anniversary in August or my birthday to make sure that he doesn't get another chance to fuck it up.  Strong words perhaps but how could he have planned to have his sister and her daughter staying with us on our 10th anniversary???  How romantic!  I can just see how that night would have played out.

After work I headed off Market to Dolores.  This is the view of pretty Dolores Street from Market:

I continued on Dolores to Chula to Abbey to go at talk to David about some Different Spokes stuff.  I'm the new Ride Coordinator and I don't want to fuck it up.  After we finished I continued on Abbey to 17th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey.  This is the view from the top of Monterey looking west:

I continued on Monterey into Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Lincoln to MLK and into Golden Gate Park.  I stopped at the Music Concourse for a pic of the De Young:

    Me:

I got on JFK and took that to 8th to Clement to Arguello to Euclid into Masonic to Presidio to Post.  I stopped at Webster for pics of Japantown:

I continued on Post to Laguna to Market and headed up to the Castro.  I sopped at Noe for pics of the Farmers Market which has started up again:

I continued on Market to 17th to Ord and home.  I'm still too pissed at Mr. Poe to have a reasonable conversation with him so I avoided him and went to bed early.  Developing.
