It was warmer than I thought it was gonna be when I left the house this morning.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came down the Great Highway and stopped at the foot of Sloat for pics.  The beach was gorgeous this morning.  The unsettled weather we're having makes for a lot of surf:

    Which the surfers were loving:

    Me:

I continued down the Great Highway and got a nice shot of the sun rising behind Lake Merced:

I continued on the Great Highway to Skyline to Winston to Mercedes.  Ingleside Heights is such a pretty neighborhood with many gorgeous homes:

I continued on Cedro to Ocean to San Leandro to Saint Francis to Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey into Laguna Honda into 7th to Hugo to 3rd to Frederick to Stanyan to Waller to Clayton to Haight.  It started to rain.  Yuck.  This is the view from Haight and Masonic:

I love the reflection of it in the morning.  I don't think it's is pretty later in the day when the wind picks up:

I took South to MLK and then headed south on the Great Highway.  I stopped at the foot of Sloat for some pics of the beach.  There was a big fog bank parked just offshore:

I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took that to the Music Concourse.  The De Young seems to look very different depending on the time of day because of the copper sheathing that covers it and all of it's angles.  I love it:

I made my way over to the Shakespeare Garden which looked serene like it usually does in the morning:

    My bike:

I got on South to Kezar to Waller to Masonic to Haight to Laguna to Page.  These pretty Victorians are on Octavia at Page:

  • Sunday, November 1, 2009

We had a few people over for Halloween.  It was lots of fun and very, very boozy.  I carved some jack-o-lanterns:

And I even made a cake!  It's devils food cake with cream cheese frosting and chopped up candy bars between the layers and on top.   The frosting is kind of a hot mess but Mr. Poe says it was delicious.  I wouldn't know.  It totally isn't vegan so I didn't eat any of it:

I had a very hard time getting going on Sunday because of the previous night's boozing.  But I got up and took the dogs for a walk and then Mr. Poe and I went down to the Castro to run errands.  Then I had a little lunch and got on my bike.  I was led a ride out to Rodeo Beach for Different Spokes.  It started off as kind of a disaster because I got a flat tire on the way to the meeting point and had to walk my bike home and get a different one (much faster than changing the tire).  So I was a little late to the meeting.  Somebody had shown up and left but I found him at the bridge where we met our other rider so it all worked out.  The weather was fabulous.  Warm and sunny without much wind.  Gorgeous.

This is Andrew at the top of the headlands.  He moved here from Chicago and he's still getting used to the hills.  But he made it all the way up and he did great!

The beautiful view from the top of the headlands:

    Me:

Then we headed down to Rodeo Beach.  I haven't been there in forever.  It's such a pretty beach and I love it there.  Here are Dennis and Andrew at the beach:

    The beach:

We headed back to San Francisco and I had one more hill in me so I headed up to the Twin Peaks viewing platform.  It was jam packed with tourists and for good reason.  Check out this view:

Then I headed home.  It was a fabulous day.
