It was raining when I got up so I slept in and then rode 17th to Eureka to 18th to Harrison to Mariposa to Bryant to 2nd to Sansome and into work.  The sun came out around 8AM and it was a gorgeous day.  The weather was incredible when I went home for lunch.  This is the Gay and Lesbian Center as seen from Market and Octavia.  Note the enormous crane behind it:

After work I headed down Howard Street.  This building on Howard at Mission has been vacant since the earthquake and is distinguished by furniture attached to the facade.  It has recently been eminent domained and will be razed to make way for affordable housing.  The owners seem like total douches.  They've been holding out for more and more money from developers for years to give up this property and until city ended up seizing it.  Thankfully, they aren't getting more than they were going to get when they almost sold it in 2005 but backed out at the last minute because they were holding out for more money.  Witness the splendor of it:

    .

This is the Orlando Hotel which is across the street from it.  It's in a bit better condition but it still needs some loving:

I continued on Howard to 11th.  This is the Jackson Brewery which I love:

I continued on 11th to Bryant to Mariposa to Florida to 26th.  This is the view down South Van Ness towards Bernal Hill I think:

I continued on 26th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey into Santa Clara.  This is the view up St. Francis from Santa Clara:

I continued on Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey.  This is the view up Pacheco from Dewey:

I continued on Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Irving to 9th and into Golden Gate Park where I took MLK to the Music Concourse and then JFK to the Panhandle and then Baker to McAllister to Laguna to Market and home for dinner.

I didn't do any riding this weekend.  We had an electrical storm on Saturday morning and we canceled my team ride over concerns about, you know, electricity.  I should have gone riding Sunday but was feeling way too lazy as was Ashley who was beat after a long weekend of disco dancin':

I can report that Mr. Poe has finally opened the last of his birthday presents and has already been asking when Christmas presents will show up at our house.

It was a beautiful warm day but I could see the fog creeping in as I left work.  I headed off Market to Turk.  This is the view down Taylor at Turk towards the beautiful Golden Gate Theatre:

I continued on Turk where I saw this mural which has such a great 80's vibe going on and would be happily at home on this building, on the side of a van or on velvet.  Likey:

I continued on Turk to Arguello to Cabrillo to Funston and into Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden.  It looked beautiful:

The de Young from the Rose Garden:

    Me in the Rose Garden:

Then I headed over to Stow Lake and it's fabulous Chinese Pavilion:

Then I got on MLK and took that to the Great Highway. I was pretty beat and contemplated taking the short way home back through the park, but I decided to head down to Taravel and go home that way instead.  I was very happy that I made that decision as the Great Highway was chock full of hunky surfers.  I continued to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.

I finally managed to get up on time this morning!  I headed out up Corbett and got a picture of the gorgeous sunrise at Portola.  No fog in sight:

I continued on Portola to Woodside.  I noticed very thick compressed fog a little below me.  I hoped it was just a patch:

Not so!  The fog was incredibly thick and visibility was poor.  I continued on Woodside to Dewey to Taravel.  This is Taravel and 19th Ave this morning:

I continued on Taravel very slowly because of the dense fog and headed down to the coast.  I headed south on the Great Highway to Skyline to Lake Merced to Font to Holloway to Harold to Ocean to Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Hearst to Edna to Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to Market to Sansome and into work.  The fog burned off by Monterey.  It's gonna be a gorgeous day again.

It warmed up quickly and it was gorgeous when I went home for lunch.  I got a pic of the Financial District on my way back to work:

After work I headed off Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Franklin to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio at the Lombard Gate.  I came around on Lincoln and stopped for a pic of Lands End from a little west of the Golden Gate Bridge:

I love the view of the Holy Virgin Cathedral from the Presidio:

    Me:

I continued on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar to 27th to Lake to 29th to California to 32nd to Clement to 34th to Balboa and down to the coast.  It was gorgeous at the beach!

    The view towards Marin:

    The view south:

I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and followed it to the Panhandle to Stanyan to Page to Scott to Duboce to Noe to Market and home for dinner.

Mr. Poe still has one unopened birthday gift and another one that he has looked at and then rewrapped to be opened again later.  Developing.

I slept in again this morning.  I need to stop doing that because it was almost 7 before I got out of the house!  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK and followed that to Middle.  Was it ever foggy on the coast this morning.  Spooky park:

I continued on Middle to Transverse to JFK to the Panhandle and then Baker to Fulton.  This is the view looking down Fulton from Scott towards City Hall:

I continued on Fulton to Franklin to McAllister to Polk to O'Farrell to Market and into work.

After work I headed off 2nd to Howard to 11th to Harrison to 20th to Capp.  Capp street has a terrible reputation as being one the grittier streets in the city, but in the 20's there's tons of Victorians and a lot of them are in really great shape:

I continued on Capp to 24th. This is the view looking south down Mission St. from 24th:

I continued on 24th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Ridgewood to Flood to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood to Faxon to De Montefort to Ashton to Pico to Urbano to Moncada to Winston to Lake Merced to Middlefield to Ocean to San Leandro.  This is pretty Saint Francis Wood:

    Me:

    Such great trees:

I continued on San Leandro to Portola.  The fog was rolling in like crazy:

This pretty firehouse is on Miraloma at Portola.  Likey!

I continued on Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  I worked on my homework and then it was time for bed.

I managed to make it out of the house this morning and went riding.  I took Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus to Cole to Waller to Stanyan and into Golden Gate Park at JFK.  I came out at the Arguello Gate and went into the Presidio.  I stopped at Immigrant Point for pics:

    Me:

I took this at Washington and Lincoln:

I started heading down to Crissy Field and got another shot of the foggy morning from McDowell:

I got onto Mason and headed over to the Marina.  They've completed construction at the Palace of Fine Arts and it looks fabulous!

I've never seen this interior unobstructed.  There used to be a big metal net that caught pieces of the molding when they fell off.  It looks great:

I took North Point to Scott to Chestnut to Laguna to Francisco to Polk to North Point to Columbus to Clay to Sansome and into work.  It's gonna be a gorgeous day.

We had a bunch of people over for dinner on Labor Day Monday. It was a long day so I slept in Tuesday morning and just came down market into work.  I headed home over lunch, and I was pretty beat at the end of the day so I came up Market home.

On the Mr. Poe birthday watch he still has one unopened present-- eight days after his birthday.  He did, however, open the card I'd gotten him.

On Sunday afternoon Mr. Poe dropped Nathan and I off at the comic book store on Ocean Ave and then we walked home through the Ingleside, down Monterey Ave and through Glen Canyon.

    Ingleside Goodness:

This house is not in the greatest shape but it's gorgeous:

This is the Ingleside Terraces sundial which predates the neighborhood and is a reminder of the racetrack that used to be on this site:

    Nathan:

Then we headed over to Monterey Ave to see the progress on the reconstruction of the Sunnyside Conservatory.  It continues and I think should be finished soon. Then we headed over to Glen Canyon:

Nathan, Sofi, and Rufus in Glen Canyon:

From there we headed home.  When we were heading up the stairs to go into the house I suddenly realized that I hadn't brought keys when Mr. Poe dropped us off and that we were locked out.  Fail!  So completely embarrassing.  Nathan ran home to get his set while I waited with the dogs.  He wasn't gone very long.  I think cabs were involved but he refused to confirm or deny that or tell me how much they might have cost.  I am officially an idiot.
