We had a little sun in the afternoon, but but the fog was lurking on Twin Peaks.  They've put up the bear flag for Folsom Street Festival this weekend:

After work I headed off Market to Geary to Polk.  This is the pretty new church on Polk at Bush.  I love everything about it:

I continued on Polk to Jackson.  This is one of the many enormous homes on Gough at Jackson:

I continued on Jackson to Presidio to Washington to 8th and into Golden Gate Park.  I went through the Music Concourse and took MLK to 9th to Judah to 7th into Laguna Honda to Dewey to Claremont to Portola to Santa Clara into Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia.  The mission was in a small pocket of sunshine but there was fog everywhere else.  Freaky:

I continued on Valencia to 18th to Douglass to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  I was beat and I went to bed early.

It was super foggy yet again this morning.  Where is the heat wave we're supposed to be having???  I headed off Corbett to Portola where visibility was very low to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I got under the fog at around Sunset which was nice.  I took the Great Highway up to Sutro Heights and then Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Which was very foggy.  At least it wasn't wet:

    Me:

I got on Camino Del Mar to Lake.  These are some of the beautiful homes on Lake Street:

I continued on Lake to Arguello to Clay to Post.  There's a new thing in Japantown!  It's called New People and it's a store that sells all things trendy and Japanese.  Here is their website.  I'm gonna drag Mr. Poe there.  I don't think he'll go willingly so I'm planning on telling him that it's the new "Museum of Crazy People" and hope he doesn't figure it out before I've finished shopping.  I love the building it's in.  It's fabulous:

A view a little further up Post:

I continued on Post to Kearny.  This is the view looking down Kearny.  Very, very foggy:

I continued on Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into work.

After work I headed off Sutter to Polk to Pacific.  This is the view down Laguna from Pacific.  It's still sunny but you can see the fog creeping into the bay:

I continued on Pacific to Lyon to Jackson.  These pretty buildings are on Lyon at Jackson:

I continued on Jackson to Presidio to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton and down to the coast.  I came down the Great Highway and noted how foggy it was at the coast:

I continued on the Great Highway to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola.  I stopped at Portola at Corbett for pics of the city.  Gorgeous:

I took Corbett to Ord and then home for dinner.

I managed to drag myself out of bed this morning and headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey.  By the time I got to Dewey I was in cold dense fog and the visibility was extremely limited.  Yuck.  I continued to Taravel and down to the Great Highway and then up the coast and into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I took MLK to Middle to Transverse to JFK to the Panhandle and then Baker to McAllister where the fog finally cleared and I took a few pics down at Civic Center.  This is the view down McAllister from Franklin:

The state building at McAllister and Van Ness:

The Asian Art Museum.  Free on the first Sunday of the month!  Note to self:  avoid museum on the first Sunday of the month.

    City Hall from Larkin:

    Me:

UN Plaza with the big, beautiful federal building on Mission at 8th in the background:

I took Larkin to Grove.  This is a side view of the federal building from Grove and Market:

I took Market to Sansome and into work.

I slept in and just came down Market into work this morning.  I went home for lunch where I had a standoff with Ashley who has started storing his toys in his kennel.  He wouldn't come out of his kennel and snarled at me when I came near to it.  I tipped it up from the back and he angrily stormed out of it and we had a bit of an argument about me standing too near to his kennel.  He got yelled at and we've decided to put the toys he's getting so angry about away for a while.  In defense, in the 30 seconds that Rufus had charge of his adorable lion toy that a coworker had given me, Rufus managed to pull of one of his arms and rip a big hole in his head.

After work I headed off down Howard.  This is pretty St. Josephs at 10th:

I continued on Howard to 11th to Bryant to Mariposa to York.  I hadn't been down pretty York Street in a while.  It has some of the oldest homes in the city.  This one has gone through numerous building cycles but I bet the core of it is 1860's:

This well maintained home a little farther down is hard to photograph because of all the pretty plantings in around it:

    I love this former factory:

    3

It looks like a sign painted over a sign:

I continued on York to 26th.  This building is at Mission at 26th:

I continued on 26th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond.  This building is on Diamond at Bosworth.  I don't know what it is about this building that seems toff to me but it's something about the front of it.  I love Glen Park:

I continued on Diamond to Monterey into Santa Clara.  Did it ever get foggy.  This is Saint Francis Wood.  I love the big trees in the fog.  So pretty/creepy:

    Me in Saint Francis Wood:

I continued on Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Irving to 9th and into Golden Gate Park.  I took MLK to the Music Concourse and then JFK to 8th to Cabrillo to Arguello to Turk to Baker to Hayes to Scott to Duboce to Noe to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.

We had a few people over for lunch on Sunday to celebrate Russ' return from Ptown.  He was gone all summer.  I don't know how we got along!  Nathan took some pics with his fabulous camera:

Usually Nathan takes incredibly flattering photos of me.  This was the best one of the bunch.  Ouch:

Mimi wore her pretty pearls and her party dress.  Here she is noticing cookies:

    Here she is wanting cookies:

    Now she wants a drink:

Sofi came too!  She's always lots of fun.  Rufus tried his hardest to be well behaved.  It isn't easy when everything is so interesting/delicious:

    Alex and David:

Mr. Poe was wiped out after a long day of cookin'/eatin'  as were the dogs:

    Rufus was pretty beat too:

I needed a lengthy nap after the guests left and was generally useless for the rest of the day.

I was feeling a little better on Saturday so I headed off on my Different Spokes ride to Lucas Valley.  This is the same ride that had been such a spectacular failure the last time I tried it.  It still wasn't easy but I did a lot better this time and felt a whole lot stronger.  I rode with two people-- Rico who left us in San Anselmo because he wanted a shorter day and Cameron who rode with me the whole day.  Here he is lounging at our first stop in San Rafael:

From there we headed off to China Camp which is so pretty.

    Me:

Then it was off to Lucas Valley and then home through Fairfax.  The fog was rolling in as we got home.  Here it is slowly overtaking Angel Island:

From there we went home and I didn't do much for the rest of the day.  It's a little frustrating how hard these longs days are because this is a ride I wouldn't have found very strenuous in March.  Oh, well.  It will be easier next time.

My cold was both unpleasant and something I didn't want to share with my coworkers so I worked from home on Wednesday and Thursday.  Friday I came down Market into work.  I was feeling a little better towards the end of the day so I went riding.  I took Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Laguna to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio at the Lombard Gate.  I came around on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar and stopped at Seacliff for a pic of the pretty day:

I got on 30th to Clement to 34th to Balboa and down to the coast.  It was a glorious day at the beach:

I headed south on the Great Highway to Taravel to 34th to Crestlake.  I love the mid century modernity of Crestlake.  So peaceful.  So uniform:

The houses are more spanish a little farther up the street:

I continued on Crestlake to Sloat.  I love the water building at 24th and Sloat.  It's fabulous:

I continued up Sloat.  This is the view looking west from Sloat and Junipero Serra:

I got on Saint Francis.  I love Saint Francis Wood.  It's so pretty and manicured and well behaved.

This is the view looking West down Saint Francis from San Anselmo:

I took San Anselmo to Santa Paula to Portola.  This is the big radio tower from Portlola and O'Shaughnessy:

Ugh.  I've got a cold and didn't sleep well last night.  I managed to drag myself out of bed and headed off Corbett to Portola.  It was very foggy at the top of Portola this morning:

I continued on Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK and followed that to Middle to Transverse to JFK and then 8th to Lake to Arguello to Clay.  This is the view looking north from Clay somewhere in Presidio Heights:

These are the homes that enjoy that view:

I continued on Clay to Fillmore to Pacific.  This is the view looking down over Chinatown towards the Bay Bridge from the top of Pacific:

I continued on Pacific to Powell to Jackson.  This is the view down Jackson from Stockton I think:

    Me on Jackson:

I continued on Jackson to Columbus to Clay to Sansome and into work.
