    The Ferry Building:

Big sculpture at the Ferry Building:

I continued on Mission to Silver to Alemeny to Sagamore to Brotherhood Way.  There’s another Benny Bufano sculpture on Brotherhood Way that is very similar to the one in Fort Mason I looked at this morning:

I continued on Brotherhood Way to Lake Merced.  The Lake looked gorgeous:

This morning I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus to Cole to Waller to Stanyan and into the Park at JFK.  This is McLaren Lodge from Stanyan and JFK:

I continued on JFK to Arguello and took that into the Presidio and then came around on Washington and stopped at Washington and Lincoln for a pic of the Golden Gate Bridge:

I took Lincoln to Cowles to McDowell where I noticed that the new construction there seems to have necessitated the removal of the quaint pet cemetery underneath Doyle Drive.  I continued to Old Mason through Crissy Field to Marina and up into Fort Mason.  I love this Benny Bufano sculpture in Fort Mason.  He was an interesting California artist who, among other things, seems to have chopped off his trigger finger and sent it to Woodrow Wilson at the onset of World War I.  That’s crazy moxie.  Or maybe just crazy.  You can read more about him here.

The view of the Marina from Fort Mason:

    Me:

I headed over to Fisherman’s Wharf.  This is the pretty Argonaut Hotel on Beach St.:

I took Beach to Columbus.  This gorgeous building is apparently a garage:

I continued on Columbus to Clay to Sansome and into work.

Was it ever hot on Saturday!  Yuck.  Doesn’t the weather know that I live in northern California and am only comfortable between 60 and 75 degrees??  I led a ride for Different Spokes out to Point Reyes Station and back.  I felt pretty good except for the heat which was nice.  I’m definitely getting faster which is nice because I’ve been working pretty hard at it.

This is the Golden Gate Bridge before we crossed it laced with fog.

Roger was on a Lifecycle training ride to the Cheese Factory but we ran into him a couple of times:

    Cameron:

Wanderson.  He’s Brazilian and did a little better in the heat than the rest of us:

    Brian:

It was getting hot by the time we rolled into Perry’s in Fairfax:

    Thomas:

It was roasting hot by the time we rolled into Point Reyes Station.  I got separated from the other riders and parked myself under a tree where I ran into my neighbor Mustafa:

I managed to locate the gang at Cowgirl Creamery:

    Point Reyes Station:

It got hotter and hotter as we headed inland.  I almost called Mr. Poe to pick me up from Nicasio.  It was almost 100 and when the wind blew the wind was hot.  Yuck.  We made our way back to Fairfax and collapsed in the shade at Perry’s.  It was starting to cool off as we headed home and was almost pleasant by the time we crossed the bridge again.  I made it home and had dinner and went to bed.  I sure hope it’s cooler on our ride next week.  Some people like riding in that weather.  Those people are fucking crazy.

After work I headed off Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Gough to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio at the Lombard Gate.  I came around on Lincoln.  The fog was rolling in and it was very thick:

    Me on Lincoln:

I continued on Lincoln to Ralston to Kobbe to Washington to Wedermeyer I had a look at the progress they’re making on the spooky old hospital. It’s certainly coming along, and it’s gonna be fabulous:

The fog rolling in over the Richmond:

I took Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton to the Great Highway.  The beach was cold and pretty:

They’re was some party going on.  You could see everybody huddled together.  I suspect it was Burning Man related:

I concluded that because of their cars:

I continued south on the Great Highway.  There were a bunch of surfers milling about.  Likey!

I continued on the Great Highway to Taravel to Dewey to Merced.  This is the view looking North:

I continued on Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe was at movie so I took the dogs for a long walk and then we all went home and went to bed.

When I went home for lunch I picked up my new road bike and took it to Mike’s on Howard.  It wasn’t shifting well and something was rubbing and I needed it in good shape before Saturday.  It turned out to be a part of the cassette that was stripped and needed to be replaced but thankfully that only took a couple of minutes.  Everything works beautifully now.

After work I headed off Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Laguna to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio at the Lombard Gate and got on Lincoln.  It was very foggy yet again.  I got a pic of the progress they’re making on the renovation of Doyle Drive which connects the Golden Gate Bridge with the Marina.  They’ve chopped down a bunch of trees by the old stables.  I’m interested to see what they’re going to do:

I continued on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  I stopped at the Holocaust Memorial for a few pics.  I thought it would be even more evocative against the fog,  Thankfully, there weren’t asian seniors doing tai chi on it:

They’re painting the di Suvero Pax Jerusalemme a battleship grey.  I’m so hoping it’s primer because the color was one of the few things about this piece that I like:

    The Legion of Honor:

    Me:

From there I headed down to 34th to Balboa and down to the coast.  The dense fog did not seem to be stopping the surfers:

    The view south:

I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took that to the Panhandle to Stanyan to Page to Scott to Duboce to Noe to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.
