I was pretty beat when I got up this morning and I almost went back to bed but I’m not going to be able to ride tomorrow after work because super cute Brendan Patrick is coming into town and I have to be home right after work because he’s staying with us so I got my ass in the shower and headed off on my bike.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Pacheco.  This is the view up the Pacheco steps:

I headed up Forest Hill Pacheco to Dorantes to San Marcos to Casteneda to Lopez to Sotelo to 9th to Pacheco.  This is the view looking North from the top of the Cascade Steps:

I continued Funston to Aerial to 14th Avenue.  This is the view looking Northwest from 14th.  Gorgeous:

The view looking west towards Grand View Park:

I continued on 14th to Ortega to 15th.  This is the view looking west from 15th and Aloha:

Close up of the glamorous De Young Museum.  It’s fabulous from any angle:

I took Aloha to Lomita to 16th to Maraga to 17th to Lawton and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I took that to the Shakespeare Garden and stopped for pics:

After work I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Locust to Washington to Arguello to Cabrillo to 8th and into Golden Gate Park.  I stopped at the Music Concourse for some pics.  This is the California Academy of Sciences from a slightly different angle than I usually get it from:

The Band Shell,  It’s been under renovation for forever:

    Me:

I got on MLK to 9th to Judah to 7th into Laguna Honda to Dewey to Claremont to Portola to Santa Clara into Monterey to Diamond.  This is a view looking up Diamond from Wilder.  I love Glen Park:

Puzzlingly, the web site for Eggettes.com doesn’t work.  This place fascinates me.

I took Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 26th to San Jose to 22nd to Guerrero.  Lots of gorgeous homes on Guererro:

    Check out the detail:

I continued on Guererro to 20th to Dolores to 18th to Diamond to 17th to Ord and home.  I ran into Mr. Poe on the way up 17th.  We had dinner and I had some homework to do on my restrained and tasteful class website and then I went to bed.

I headed off this morning Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I followed that to Stow Lake where I took some pics.  Here are some Geese:

    Beautiful Stow Lake:

I headed over to JFK to 8th to Cabrillo to Arguello to McAllister.  These are some of the pretty Victorians on McAllister at Parker:

    Pretty St. Ignatius Church:

    Lovely detail:

I continued on Mcallister to Parker to Golden Gate to Divisadero.  I’ve taken a bunch of pics of this gorgeous mansion on Divisadero but my detail shots of it never turn out.  It’s really nicely detailed.  Trust.

I continued on Divisadero to Eddy to take pics of the recently renamed Macang Monastery.  It was the Holy Cross Catholic Church once and now it’s a pretty Buddhist Monastery.  I like.  You can read a little bit more about them here.  They seem to be taking great care of the building:

    Glorious detail:

    Complete with Art Gallery:

I continued on Eddy.  Me on Eddy:

I continued on Eddy to Market to Sansome and into work.

I’m only $700 away from my Lifecycle fundraising goal and I’d really appreciate it if you pledged me if you haven’t already.  Click here to pledge me.  You’re the best!

After work I headed off Sansome to Jackson to Davis to drop off my laundry and then up Broadway.  This is the view down Sansome with the glamorous Transamerica Pyramid:

The view down Sansome looking towards Telegraph Hill:

I continued on Broadway to Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Laguna to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I came up on Lincoln and stopped at my favorite spot for pics of the ocean and Marin:

    Marin Headlands:

    Me:

    Golden Gate Bridge:

I continued on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar to 32nd.  Here are a few of the gorgeous homes on 32nd.  Likey:

I continued on 32nd to Clement and then up to the VA hospital.  This campus belongs to the group of Maya Revival buildings that sprouted up in San Francisco in the 30′s.  Most of the buildings haven’t been heavily extended to the site is in pretty good shape.  The architecture is Deco and pretty spectacular.  I think the ornamentation is somewhat at odds with the pretty severe deco style architecture and that it’s much more successfully applied to a more organic design such as the Medical Dental Building.  But I still like it a lot.  Some guy told me I shouldn’t be taking pictures.  I concluded he was crazy.  Check out how gorgeous this place is:

I continued on Clement down to 48th where I got another nice ocean shot:

I took a bunch of pics as I headed down towards the Great Highway.

    Ocean and Marin:

    Sutro Baths:

    Ocean Beach:

    The Cliff House:

    Seal Rocks:

I took the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at JFK.  I took that to the Panhandle to Stanyan to Page to Baker to Haight to Buena Vist East to Upper Terrace to Loma Vista to Roosevelt to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  I beat Mr. Poe home again.  He’s still pretty uncomfortable and he isn’t sleeping well.  Poor baby.

I got up and was a little late out of the house this morning.  The sun was shining and it was a gorgeous morning.  I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus to Cole to Waller to Stanyan and into Golden Gate Park at JFK.  The Conservatory of Flowers looked especially beautiful this morning:

I headed over to Stow Lake.  I can’t remember the last time I was there in the morning.  The Chinese Pavilion looks gorgeous in the morning:

After work I headed off 2nd to Howard to 11th to Bryant to Precita to Mission to College.  St. Mary’s Park is a cute neighborhood built on the site of the old St. Mary’s University.  You can read about the history of the neighborhood here.  There are lots of great 20′s bungalows and the architecture seems very southern California to me:

I took College to Justin.  This is the view down the 280 from Justin.  Foggy:

I continued on Justin to Alemeny to Brotherhood Way which is populated by church after church with a park dedicated to peace and everything.  I’m not sure about the history of it but a lot of the buildings are very intereting.  You can visit the community online here

    St. Thomas More Church:

One of the towers of Park Merced:

I continued on Brotherhood Way to Lake Merced.  It was windy and foggy there:

I continued on Lake Merced to John Muir to the Great Highway to Taravel.  This is St. Cecilia’s as seen from 19th:

I continued on Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  I beat Mr. Poe home by a few minutes.  He should work less until his injuries heal.

We all slept pretty well last night but I’m beat from all the weekend riding so I slept in this morning.  Mr. Poe slept through the night and we’re all happy about that.  I went on a shorter ride this morning.  17th to Eureka to 18th to Harrison to Mariposa to Bryant and down to the Financial District.  I got some pics of the South Financial District.

Infinity Towers peeking out from under the Bay Bridge:

More Infinity Towers.  Units still for sale if you’re interested:

I took Main to Market.  This is the view looking down Market and Pine:

I got on California.  I think this building is at California and Front:

I continued on California to Sansome and into work.  I’m pretty beat but I feel pretty good.  It was a great weekend.

Sunday carme around and it was time for another CAT2 ride.  Today was Alpine Dam Lake and Mount Tam.  It’s a gratuitously difficult ride and way harder than any actual day on the Lifecycle.  But we had a great time.

Buzz, Nick, and Sunny in Mill Valley:

    Chuck and Beau:

    Stefano in Fairfax:

    Beau and Chuck in Fairfax:

Buzz, the most glamorous queen of all:

Then we did the big climb up to Alpine Dam Lake.  I love it up there.  It’s so pretty and so totally worth the climbing.

Nick, Chuck, Buzz, Stefano, and Sunny:

And then we climbed up to the top of Mt. Tam.  You’re up so high and the views go on forever.  i love it up there.

    The gang:

The view down to Bolinas Lagoon:

    Me:

We made it back down to Pan Toll Station and everybody was pretty much beat.  Luckily it was mostly downhill the rest of the way.  Here’s everybody at Pan Toll:

We headed down to Mill Valley and had lunch at Cafe Del Soul which is really good, particularly after a long ride and is highly recommended.  Then I headed home and hung out with Mr. Poe who seems to be on the mend a little.  He slept a lot better this weekend then he’s been sleeping which meant we all slept better.

Saturday rolled around and I got on my bike and headed out.  I’d posted a long ride on the Different Spokes Calendar but only Larry showed up so it was just the two of us, which was fun.  We headed through Fairfax and then Nicasio and then the Cheese Factory.  It wasn’t too busy when we got there which was nice.

    Larry at the Cheese Factory:

Then we headed down Hicks Valley and then to the top of Wilson Hill from which you can see forever:

Me and my newish bike on Wilson Hill:

Then we headed down Chileno Valley Road.  It’s drop dead gorgeous and you’d never know it was there if you weren’t looking for it. Me likey:

    Larry:

Then we headed into Tomales and then south on the 1 towards Tomales Bay.  I love Tomales Bay.  It’s so gorgeous.  The only way it could be better is if you won stuff by looking at it:

    Larry enjoying Tomales Bay:

We got back a little after six.  It was a great day but I was completely beat.

Mr. Poe slept poorly again and we all slept in on Friday morning.  I headed home for lunch and then after work I headed off down Market to Turk.  This is the view down Jones Street from Turk:

And a closeup of the Greek Revival building that I like so much:

I continued on Turk to Arguello to Cabrillo to Funston and into Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden.  Everything was starting to bloom.  I like:
