I went home over lunch to meet Mr. Chris and David.  They're going to Amsterdam and Sofi is staying with us for a whole week!  Rufus and Ashley are enamored of her.  Mimi hates her.  But only some.  This is a pretty Victorian block on Market betweekn Laguna and Octavia.  It's interesting because at one point it had a cannabis club next door to a Curves.  I found that ironic.  Not so much anymore, the Curves closed:

After work I headed up Sutter.  This is the view looking west from Montgomery:

I continued on Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Maple to Washington.  These fabulous homes are on Washington between Maple and Cherry:

I continued on Washington to Arguello.  This is the big Synagogue on Arguello:

    A view of Presidio Terrace:

I continued on Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Balbloa.  This is the view looking north down 25th from Balboa:

I continued on Balboa to the Great Highway and headed south.  The beach looked gorgeous:

    Me at the beach:

I continued on the Great Highway to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  We didn't have any issues with Sofi all night.  They're having trouble figuring out who sleeps where but they'll work that out tonight.

It was dry for the first time all this week in the morning!  I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus to Cole to Frederick to Stanyan and into Golden Gate Park at JFK.  I followed that to Bernice Rodgers to MLK and then down the Great Highway.  I stopped just south of Sloat for some pics of the foggy morning ever the ocean:

I continued on the Great Highway to Skyline to Lake Merced to Font to Holloway to Harold to Ocean to Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Hearst to Circular to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia.  I got a pic of a pretty apartment building at Valencia and 14th:

I continued on Valencia to Market to Sansome and into work.

I headed off after work Sutter to Presidio to Euclid to Arguello to Cabrillo to 8th and into Golden Gate Park.  I took JFK down to the North Windmill which has tulips in bloom!  I seem to miss them almost every year so I get excited when I see them:

    Me in Golden Gate Park

I continued on JFK to the Great Highway and then down the coast.  I stopped at the foot of Sloat for a pic of the hazy, beautiful day we were having:

    The view north towards Marin:

I continued on The Great Highway to Skyline to John Muir to Lake Merved to Winston to Broadmoor to Stonecrest to Juniper Serra to Ocean and I stopped at the Comic Outpost.

The owner of Comic Outpost has sold the store and they were having this incredible sale on back issues $1 each!  I cleaned up on Avengers comics since that's what I've been collecting these days.  As I was heading out, my bike wheel bumped a rickety display case sending four levels of collectibles loudly crashing to the ground.  FUCK!   It was so incredibly embarrassing I just wanted to crawl under a rock.  I'm waiting to hear back from them about how much damage I caused but it may end up costing me a couple of hundred bucks.  I guess it's back to working double shifts at the "Beaver Trap" for me.

I continued on Ocean to Plymouth to Greenwood to Hazelwood to Flood to Ridgewood to Hearst to Circular to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 18th to Diamond to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  I was very late for dinner because I had waited for them to get all the mess I made cleaned up intending to pay for the damage last night but they decided they wanted to talk to the owner about it before they charged me.  I told Mr. Poe about my humiliation.  He tried to console me by rapidly ticking off a dozen or so incidents which prove that the latest one wasn't even in the my top ten embarassing moments.  Not helping, honey. I walked the dogs and we went to bed early.

It was soaking wet again this morning so I slept in and went for a much shorter ride into work.  I took 17th to Eureka to 18th to Harrison to 10th to Bryant.  It was drying out, but there were still ominous clouds about:

    Rincon Hill looks increasingly impressive:

I continued on Bryant and got a nice pic of the South Financial District from underneath the Bay Bridge:

I continued on Bryant to Beale to Folsom to Main.  I can't wait to see the new Transbay Terminal when it goes in.  It's going to be incredible.  This is some of the site:

I contined on Folsom to Main to Drumm to Sacramento to Sansome and into work.

It was raining in the morning so I just came down Market into work.  It cleared up a bit while I was heading home for lunch.  The Virgin Megastore is going out of business.  They're selling fixtures and decorations too.  Sad:

The rain started up again after work.  I'm over it. I took Market home.

It was dark when I woke up and there were a lot of e-mails from the training ride leaders for the Lifecycle ride about rain.  I didn't see any on radar and I was like "We're riding".  I headed off to Sports Basement in the Presidio on my bike in a light drizzle which got stronger and stronger as I headed through the Haight.  I was soaking wet by the time I got to Sports Basement.  The rain was supposedly worse in Marin and we decided to cancel the ride.  Again.  The fourth cancellation of a Sunday ride this season if you're keeping track.  A couple of riders still planned on riding but it was really, really cold and really, really wet.  Here's who showed up:

Beau put my bike on his car and took me home.  I sat in front of the fire for a while and then took a nap.  I planned on riding in the afternoon but it was still crappy so I went drinking with Chris Duplantis instead.  A fair trade.

Saturday was cold but dry and I went on the monthly Jersey Ride with Different Spokes.  We leave from Peet's in the Castro.  Here we are getting assembled:

This little dog was tied up outside of Peet's coffee for a VERY long time.  Luckily, we were all petting him.  Note to dog owner:  drink you damn coffee outside.

We headed out to Tiburon and stopped for lunch at Cafe Acri which wasn't my idea because they can kind of be dicks.  But there was no drama and we all had a good time:

Afterwards a couple of us headed up to Marin Headlands.  Still very cold:

    Me at the top:

I went home after that and Mr. Poe had made me a wonderful dinner.  I got cleaned up, walked the dogs,  and then we went to bed early.

It was a gorgeous when I went home for lunch:

I left home after lunch on foot and stopped by the comic book store and then took muni to REI where I picked up my road bike and rode it back to work.  It needed a new headset which I believe was the final remaining original moving part on that bike.  So I'm thinking of calling the bike 'Cher' because she's in a similar situation.  Zing!

After work I headed up Sutter.  This is the view looking east from Leavenworth, I think:

I continued on Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Walnut to Washington.  This is one of the most beautiful homes in the city.  And so well maintained!  Me likey:

This is the view towards Marin from Washington and Locust, I think:

I continued on Washington to Arguello to Lake to 8th and into Golden Gate Park where I took JFK to Bowling Green to Middle to MLK and then out of the park at 9th Ave and then Judah to 7th into Laguna Honda into Dewey to Claremont to Portola to Santa Clara.  This is Santa Clara from Portola and Santa Clara:

I continued on Santa Clara and got some pics of fabulous Saint Francis Wood:

I continued on Santa Clara into Monterey.  This is the view looking east from Monterey at 280:

    The view south:

    The view of me:

I continued on Monterery to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 18th to Diamond to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  I had to finish my homework and submit it.  It's super late because I didn't really have a chance to work on school stuff when I was in Florida.  I wanted it to be a little cooler but it was already late and I had to get it done so it's missing the extra credit features.  Here it is if you want to have a look.

It was cold and pretty foggy this morning.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and then got on Geary to 34th and then up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Which looked a little spooky:

Me at the Palace of the Legion of Honor:

The view of Marin Headlands from there:

I took Camino Del Mar to Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore to Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into work.

On my way home for lunch, I stopped by REI to talk about Daddy's bike with my bike guy.  He's really excited about it since it's such a cool old bike.  He pointed out that I could delay most of the upgrade for a couple of years by keeping the seven speed drivetrain.  I need new shifters on that bike anyway and although I'm usually adverse to buying stuff that I'm just going to get ride of, it makes good sense here because there's still a lot of like left in the drivetrain and wheels.  His plan would also shave 3/4 of the price of the upgrade off and make it something that I could totally afford to do this year.  Stay tuned!

I saw the remains of this accident at 16th and Mission on my way home.  D'oh!

After work I headed off Market to Turk.  This is the gorgeous staircase at the University of San Francisco:

    Me on Turk:

I continued on Turk to Cabrillo to Funston and into Golden Gate Part at the Rose Garden.  Nothing is blooming yet but it's getting there:

I got on JFK and then went to Stow Lake.  There's a great view of the radio tower on Twin Peaks from there:

    The Chinese Pavilion:

I got on MLK and headed for the coast.  There's a huge crane at the South Windmill so I'm guessing there's about to be excitement:

I continued on MLK to the Great Highway and took that to Taravel to Dewey to Hernandez.  This is Hernandez street at Laguna Honda.  Gorgeous:

    Laguna Honda Hospital:

I took Laguna Honda.  This is Saint Brendan's.  I love this church.  I'll have better views of the gorgeous bell tower when the sun starts staying up a little longer.  It's fabulous:

    The view down Portola:

I took Portola to Corbett.  This is downtown from that intersection:

    Perfect:

I took Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.
