I had so much trouble getting out of bed this morning but with the weather we’ve had this year any morning it isn’t raining is a morning I should be on my bike.  I headed of Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the Coast.  I came up the Great Highway and stopped and got a pic up to Balboa Heights:

    The view towards Seal Rocks:

Sunday I led the CAT2 ride to Lucas Valley.  It was a bit cooler than the day before but it was dry.  I’ll take it.  They were closing the Golden Gate Bridge bike lane for a race so we had to be over the bridge very early so our ride left at 6:30.  Which was very early.  We didn’t have a huge turnout because of it.  I left in front of the group so I could get into position to point so nobody missed the turn into San Rafael.  The sun was just coming up over the east bay while I rolled though Sausalito:

I pointed for about and hour and then I swept the rest of the ride.  Our first stop was in San Rafael.  Here’s Trevor enjoying his banana.  Too much:

Then we headed into China Camp which I just love riding through.  So pretty:

Then we headed over to Lucas Valley where I ran into my friend Ben:

We stopped for lunch at the Big Rocks Deli on Lucas Valley.  Here’s the gang:

Ride Leader Directrix Julie Brown rode with us and had a great time.

It was a long slog home from Lucas Valley.  There was a LOT of climbing and some of the riders were pretty beat.  I didn’t get home until after 4.  It was a long day.  Mr. Poe fed me dinner and then we took the dogs for a long walk and then we went to bed.

It was a gorgeous day and I led a Different Spokes ride out to Marshall.  The weather was perfect.  We started off in the Castro and headed over the Golden Gate Bridge and over Camino Alto and then to Fairfax where we stopped for Snack.

    Will and Jerome in Fairfax:

Jerome, Michael, Wanderson, and Cameron in Fairfax.  Cameron was on a different ride which was much shorter and expressed little interest in heading out to Marshall and turning his 40 mile day into a 100 mile one:

Next we stopped at the Cheese Factory.  The pond was quite full and kind of mucking over.  They had all these plastic bottles in the center of it.  I’m not sure what that was for:

Wanderson and Tim at the Cheese Factory:

Next we headed up the infamous Marshall wall.  It isn’t so bad.  Here’s Wanderson right before the final climb.

    Me:

I headed in front of everybody and took pics at the top.  Michael was waaaay ahead of everybody else and I really had to push to catch up with him.  I passes him right before the top and scared the hell out of him.  Oops!  I got some pics of riders coming down but most of them were really blurry.

    Wanderson:

    Jerome:

Then we headed down to Point Reyes Station for lunch and then over Olema Hill and into Samuel P Taylor Park where Michael had our one flat of the day.  Here he is contemplating his future:

Then we headed back to Fairfax and relaxed at Perry’s.

    Wanderson and Tim:

We made it back to San Francisco about 6.  It was a great day.  I’m going to try to lead one high mileage ride a month for Different Spokes.  I had a lot of fun.

I didn’t sleep well because of the barking dog issue and slept in a little and just came down Market over lunch.  I went home over lunch to wait for Mr. Chris who came and collected Sofi.  She had a great time staying with us but she sure was happy to see her Daddy again.  Chris brought me a cool orange jersey from Amsterdam that I really like.  Thanks, baby!

After work I headed off Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Octavia to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I came around on Lincoln into Camino del Mar to 25th to Balboa and down to the coast.  I came down the Great Highway and stopped at the foot of Sloat for pics:

    Me at the beach:

I continued on the Great Highway to John Muir.  Lake Merced looked lovely and very, very full:

I continued on John Muir to Lake Merced to Brotherhood Way.  This is the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church.  It’s really nestled into it’s site.  It’s got both modern and traditional elements.  I’m kind of on the fence about how much I like it:

    .

Traditional looking mosaics over the entrance:

This is one of the Park Merced buildings as seen from Brotherhood Way:

I continued on Brotherhood Way into Alemany to Trumbull to Mission to Valencia to 18th to Diamond to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  We were all very tired and we went to bed very, very early.

I headed off after work Sutter to Fillmore.  This cool building is on Fillmore at Jackson.  Another Maya revival building from the 30′s:

    Nicely detailed:

I continued on Fillmore to Pacific to Lyon to Jackson to Arguello to Lake to 8th and into Golden Gate Park.  I went through the Music Concourse to MLK and came out of the park at 9th.  I took it to Judah to 7th into Laguna Honda to Dewey to Claremont to Portola to Santa Clara into Monterey.  Here are some of the beautiful homes on Monterey Ave:

    Me on Monterey Ave:

I continued on Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 24th to Potrero.  I visited San Francisco General on Monday.  Here are a few more pics of it:

I continued on Potrero into Brannon and stopped by REI to pick up the last of my annual sale booty.  Then I came home Brannon to Division to Harrison to 15th to Market to 17th to Ord.  Mr. Poe had to work late yet again so I took the dogs for a long walk.  They were completely impossible for the rest of the night and I didn’t get a lot of sleep.  Everybody’s in trouble.

I managed to get out of the house at a reasonable hour and I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and then got on Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Which looked gorgoeus:

Me at the Palace of the Legion of Honor:

I got on Camino Del Mar and took it to Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore to Pacific.  I got a pic of the Cable Car on Hyde:

I continued on Pacific to Powell to Jackson.  This is the Chinese Hospital on Jackson between Powell and Stockton.  It’s hard to get a good pic of it but it’s nicely detailed:
