I'm finally starting to feel a little better.  I worked from home yesterday and terrified everybody when I called into a meeting with my horrible scratchy voice.  I sound like Harvey Feirstein.  I can report that Mr. Poe went out in the pouring rain at 8AM yesterday to get me the cough syrup that I liked.  He had gone out the day before on a similar errand, but those hippies at Whole Foods talked him into buying some homeopathic crap that I refused to touch.  My thought about cold medication is that if bored teenagers aren't using it to get high, I'm not interested.  But today I rode down Market into work and then came home the same way.  I noticed on the way home that I was feeling a lot better.  About time!

The view down Sansome from Sutter:

    Me on Sansome and Sutter:

I went up Market after work and went home and went to bed.  Mr. Poe hates it when I'm sick and so do I.

It rained on and off all morning.  I managed to make it home over lunch in between storms but it was wet and kind of blustery:

It was a little warmer this morning than yesterday or maybe the internets was lying to me.  It seemed pretty cold.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.   I came down the Great Highway and got a couple of shots of the ocean at sunrise:

I continued on the Great Highway to Skyline to Lake Merced to Winston.  This is the view looking north from Winston and Junipero Serra:

I continued on Winston to Moncada to Urbano to Pico to Ashton to De Montefort to Miramar to Ocean to Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Monterey.  They are redoing the Sunnyside Conservtory.  It looks to me like most of it is being rebuilt.  I asked one of the construction workers and he said it would be done by October.  I can't wait:

    Me on Monterey:

I continued on Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to Market and into work.  It's going to rain off and on all day.  I'm hoping for the best.

It was gorgeous when I headed home for lunch.  This is the view up Market from Sanchez.  Twin Peaks are so green!

Coming back from lunch the next storm was starting to roll in with ominous clouds:

    Me on Market at Noe:

After work I headed off Sansome to Jackson to Davis to drop off my laundry and then Broadway to the Embarcadero.  It was getting colder and damper and I could tell rain was not far off.  The bay bridge looked beautiful against the darkening sky:

This is the Audiffred Building that was built in 1889 and survived the 1906 earthquake.  YOu can read more about it here

This is me reflected in the windows at the Embarcadero and Howard.  Artsy:

I took Howard to 11th to Harrison to 25th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey into Santa Clara into Vicente to Wawona to Taravel to Dewey into Laguna Honda into 7th to Hugo to 3rd to Frederick to Stanyon to Page to Pierce to Waller to Steiner into Sanchez to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  It started raining on me on Page Street so I was happy to get home.

It was freezin' this morning!  I was in the low forties when  left the house.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and got a shot of the moon over the dunes at Ocean Beach:

I continued on the Great Highway to Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Pax Jerusalemme was interesting me this morning:

This is the view down to the Financial District from the Palace:

After work I headed off Columbus St.  I noted that the temperature was really dropping.  Brrr....  I think I took this pic at Columbus and Kearny:

This is the view back towards the Financial District:

I continued on Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Chestnut and stopped by the Apple Store.  The Apple Store on Chestnut is much less of a panic than the one on Stockton and is recommended for that reason.  I brought my bike in because I didn't have a lock and the security guard tried to kick me out because of it but I wasn't having any of that.  Luckily, adorable TAB Tony bent their no bike rules long enough for me to get an IPhone.  OMG I've finally joined 2007!!!!  This is a view of the Apple Store:

I left there and headed down Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I came out the Presidio Gate and rode Presidio to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 8th and into Golden Gate Park and then JFK to the Music Concourse to MLK and out of the park at 9th to Irving to 7th into Laguna Honda into Dewey to Claremont to Portola to Santa Clara into Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 18th to Diamond to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.

It was cold this morning and a little wet but the big storms from last night had passed and I managed to get out of the house a few minutes early so went for a great ride.  I took 17th to Eureka to 18th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Ridgewood to Flood to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood to Faxon to De Montefort to Ashton to Head to Holloway to Font to Lake Merced where I got a flat and then realized that I didn't have the right sized tube for the bike I was on so I had to put on one that was a little too small.  You don't want to do that because they can blow out and that can be dangerous but it was my only tube.  This meant that I was going to have to change this tire again when I got home at lunch.  I continued to John Muir to Skyline to the Great Highway.  I came up the coast and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I took it to Middle to Transverse to JFK to the Panhandle.  I stopped at Masonic and got the view up towards the Haight:

These are houses on Fell at Masonic:

    Me in the Panhandle:

I continued to Baker to McAllister to Polk to O'Farrell.  This is the view down O'Farrell Street:

    The Sketchers Building at Powell:

    Great detail:

I continued on O'Farrell to Market.  This is the view looking North:

I continued on Market to Sansome and into work.

It was a little soggy when I got up but has to be really wet before we'll cancel a Lifecycle Training ride.  I headed down to Sports Basement and we had around 60 riders show up.  Here's my great lookin' group of riders:

    Nick:

    Deyon:

    Yasmin:

Miss Kurt showed up but sadly I didn't see him all day.

    Renita:

It was less wet than it looked.  Honest.

It was a pretty crazy day because not all of the riders were on our training ride even though they were leaving from the same place and going to the same place and training for the Lifecycle.  The difference??  They stopped for coffee for a half an hour in Sausalito and went to lunch at a different place in Tiburon.  It was really confusing for me because I didn't know who was with us and who wasn't.  We got it all sorted out by the time we got to Tiburon and we made it home in reasonable time.  The sun managed to peek out on the way home.  The Marin Headlands looked glorious as we climbed Sausalito lateral.

Yes, they make me wear that ugly helmet cover:

I went and got Big Lantern on my way home and then waited for Athena and Aunt Sheila to come home.  I took them over to meet another aunt and two more cousins who were also in town visiting and we hung out with them for a little while and then I had to go home and go to bed.  I was beat.  So was Aunt Sheila.  She was in bed before me.  But she's 70.
