  • Friday, November 7

I headed off this morning Corbett to Portola to Evelyn to Teresita to Isola to Rockdale to Omar to Sequoia to Bella Vista to Los Palmos to Hazelwood to Yerba Buena to Brentwood to Maywood to El Verano into North Gate to Darien to San Fernando to Ocean to Clearfield into 34th to Yorba to 35th to Vicente and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and then took Kirkham to 16th to Judah and got a few shots of pretty St. Anne's church.  It's splendidly detailed:

I continued on Judah to 12th to Irving to 5th to Hugo to 3rd to Frederick to Cole to Waller.  This pretty mural is on Waller Street:

I continued on Waller to Masonic to Haight where I encountered a movie being filmed.  They had this fog machine that was cranking out a thick plume of fog that was visible for miles away.  Silly movie.  Don't they know we make our own??

    Me on Haight Street:

I continued on Haight Street.  These pretty buildings are on Haight at around Fillmore Street:

I continued on Haight to Octavia to Market to Sansome and into work.

  • Thursday, November 6

It was gorgeous in the afternoon.  I got a nice shot of City Hall as I headed home for lunch:

This is another of the buildings on UN plaza. I'm not sure what it is:

This is Hastings School of Law.  It's in a fabulously well detailed tower:

The dogs were not wanting to get up when I got home.  Ashley was very sleepy.  He must have been out late partying:

    Rufus:

    Me in the kitchen:

The gay flag at Castro and Market is at half mast.  Agreed:

After work I headed up Sutter street.  This fabulous tower at Montgomery and Sutter has been under renovation for a long time and they're just finishing it.  From what I can see it's even better than I thought it was going to be:

I continued up Sutter to Fillmore where I noted Christmas decorations going up at Marc Jacobs:

I continued on Fillmore to Clay to Divisadero to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton and down to the coast. I came down the Great Highway and then took Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home.  Mr. Poe had to work late so I took the dogs for a long walk after dinner.  He'd gotten home by the time we were finished and then we all went to bed.  Long day.

I felt a little better this morning.  I got up on time and managed to make it out of the house pretty much on time too.  I headed off Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus to Cole.  I got a shot of St. Ignatius which would be stellar except for all the power wires.  Still very pretty:

I continued on Cole to Waller to Stanyon and into Golden Gate Park at JFK.  I took that to the Great Highway and then came down the coast which looked beautiful this morning:

I continued on the Great Highway to Skyline to Lake Merced to Winston.  This is the view of the giant radio tower from Winston and Junipero Serra:

    Me at that intersection:

I continued on Winston to Moncada to Urbano to Pico to Ashton to De Montefort to Mirimar to Ocean to Phelan.  This is another view of the giant radio tower from Ocean and Phelan:

I took Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to Market to Sansome and into work.

I felt crappy about prop 8 all day.  Stress eating is a little bizarre when you have as healthy of a diet as I do.  There are just not a lot of options.  I ate a box of granola.  Long story short--  that's a lot of fiber.  Now let's never speak of it again.

After work I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Lyon to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton to the Great Highway and then down the coast to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe tried his best to cheer me up and I went to bed early.

I didn't sleep very well last night.  I was up and down checking the returns.  I'm very glad that Mr. Obama will be president.  I'm very sad and very angry that Proposition 8 passed.  Apparently, the next step is to have my marriage voided which I am understandably pretty upset about.  There have been a bunch of lawsuits filed to keep the amendment from taking affect but I'm not very hopeful.  Score one for evil.  I though a bike ride would cheer me up I rode 17th to Eureka to 18th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Circular and into City College.  I came out on Phelan and then took it to Ocean to Lee to Holloway to Font to Lake Merced to John Muir to Skyline to the Great Highway.  I came up the coast and went into Golden Gate Park at JFK to Bernice Rodgers to MLK to Middle to Transverse to JFK to the Panhandle to Baker to McAllister and into Civic Center.  It was eerily quiet:

I took Larkin to Grove to Market to Sansome and into work.

  • Tuesday, November 4

I saw a huge No on 8 contingent as I headed home for lunch.  Sadly, it wasn't enough.  This is my friend Edna who tells me she's crewing on the lifecycle this year.  I can't wait.  She's the greatest!

Sweet little Ashley with his smart new haircut at home on the front porch:

Rufus not takin' kindly to things.

After work I rode Howard to 11th to Harrison to 22nd to Valencia to Tiffany to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey into Santa Clara into Vicente down to the coast and then came back Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home.

  • I'm rider #5041 in the 2009 AIDS/Lifecycle

I've registered for the Lifecycle.  I'm really excited about it.  I'd better start training

The minimum pledge amount has gone up.  That, and the crappy economy make me think I'm gonna have a hard time fund raising.  So I'm starting early.

  • Tuesday, November 4

It was cold this morning!  But light in the morning.  I'll take it.  The storm had definitely moved on and it was wet everywhere but the sky was blue and the sun was out.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and got on Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Here it is hiding behind that Pax Jerusalemme sculpture that I haven't made my mind up about yet:

I headed down Camino Del Mar into Seacliff.  Seacliff has the most amazing views when the sun is shining:

I continued on Camino Del Mar into Lincoln and the Presidio.  Here's a closer up shot of the bridge:

    And one of me:

I continued on Lincoln to Cowles to McDowell to Old Mason into the Marina.  I stopped at the Palace of Fine Arts to check on the progress of the renovation.  It continues:

These are some of the liquifabulous homes that view the Palace of Fine Arts.  Liquifabulous is a word I made up to describe gorgeous homes sitting on terrible soil:

    Hungry and lookin for handouts:

I took Beach to Fort Mason to Van Ness to Beach to the Embarcadero to Washington to Battery to Sacramento to Sansome and into work.

  • Monday, November 3

My after work ride pics are going to be few and far in between for a couple of months because it's now dark when I leave work :(   I'm gonna try to take more pics over lunch so I can continue to dazzle you with the glorious city I live in.  My route choices will also be seriously impacted.  I have both head and tail lights but I stick to well lit roads when I'm riding after dark because it's a lot safer that way.  Lake Merced is out and so is the Presidio and Golden Gate Park which is only sporadically lit.  I try to stick to roads that are bike routes when I ride after dark.  I'll be spending a lot of time on Cabrillo over the next few months see ya there!

This is Mr. Poe's garden which he works very hard on and of which he is justifiably proud.  The bougainvillea is about to take over the roses but both will be getting cut back pretty soon so it doesn't really matter.

It rained all afternoon but it finally managed to clear up just as I was leaving work.  You have to call ahead for that kind of service.  I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Locust to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo and down to the coast.  I headed down the Great Highway and then took Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.

  • Monday, November 3

It's looking like it's going to be a rainy day so I got out of the house a few minutes early so that I could put a few extra miles in before it started.  I headed off 17th to Eureka to 18th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Ridgewood to Flood to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood to Faxon to De Montefort to Ashton to Head to Holloway to Font to Lake Merced to John Muir to Skyline to the Great Highway.  I came up the coast and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I followed it to the Music Concourse to JFK to 8th.  Star of the Sea Church always looks cheerful on gloomy mornings:

This cool deco builind is on 8th and Clement.  I'd never noticed it before, but the Clement side has the greatest stylish deco detail on it:

I continued on 8th to Arguello and into the Presidio.  I came out at the Lombard Gate and took Lyon to Greenwich to Van Ness to North Point to the Embarcadero to Battery to Sacramento to Sansome and into work.  It started raining when I was in the Presidio and everything was pretty wet by the time I got to work.  Ahhh winter.
