Happy Pride!  I was in the parade with my bike team again.  It was lots and lots of fun.  I painted myself bronze and, although I was generally happy with the results, it would have been a lot better if it had been a sunny day because the glitter didn’t photograph too well and I think I looked a little cool toned (cadaverous).  A little “Night of the Living Disco Dead” if you will.

Here I am with super nice Michael Petty.  He is wearing a classy and elegant outfit.

My group was right in front of the Lifecycle riders.  I’ve ridden with them a couple of times but I like riding with my bike team.  It’s so much fun.

Here we are lined up waiting for the “Dykes on Bikes” to zoom by.  There seemed to be a lot more of everything this year.  More people, more spectators, more “Dykes on Bikes”.  They seemed to go on forever.

He we are mid parade.  We were moving a lot slower than the motorcycles but a lot faster than the lifecycle group because we didn’t have anybody walking with a banner like they did.  Here’s Michael Schmucki delighting the crowds.

Here I am mid parade rocking the he cleavage.

Here’s Mr. Glidden at the end of the parade:

I went home and got cleaned up and then headed back to Civic Center to work the booth.  I hung out most the day there.  It was lots of fun.

I wanted to to put some mileage on my bike but Mr. Poe’s still out of town and it’s Pride weekend and there’s lots to do so I didn’t want to stay out all day.  I rode to Fairfax and then over to Alpine Dam Lake.  It was really pretty there.  So quiet:

I love this creepy structure below the dam:

    The Dam itself:

Looking down the canyon from the Dam:

You can see the fog clinging to the trees:

I headed up Mr. Tam and it got pretty wet towards the top.  Then I descended down into Bolinas.  The tide was out in the lagoon and it looked really pretty:

Me with the lagoon behind me:

Hungry birds feeding at the tidal flats:

I’m not sure what the ruined thing is towards the Stinson end of the lagoon.  It’s really cool looking though:

After Stinson I headed back to Mill Valley on the 1.  This is the view back of Stinson from the 1 a little ways up the hill:

This is the view of Muir Beach from the 1 above it:

I got home mid day and took the boys to the park and then I had a couple of parties to go to.  Happy pride!

I headed off after work Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Franklin to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presido.  I rode around on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar and then stopped for a foggy pic of Seacliff:

I took Camino Del Mar up to the Palace of the Legion on Honor and took a few minutes to take pics of the lavishly detailed building:

I’m still loving the cool glass thing I’ve nicknamed “Joseph’s Hair in the Morning”

It’s a flawlessly executed ,incredibly detailed structure:

    Me in front of it:

My bike in front of the courtyard:

I took Palace of the Legion of Honor to Clement to Point Lobos and then down to the Great Highway.  I went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took it to the Panhandle and then rode Stanyon to Page to Scott to Duboce to Castro to the 17th and then home to walk the dogs.

  • Friday, June 27

It was super foggy in the morning but not too cold.  I headed up Corbett and caught a creepy view of the smoke tinted rising sun:

I continued on Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I followed it to the Music Concourse where I stopped to take a few shots of the eerie fog that seemed to be everywhere in the city but my house:

And one of me as well::

I then took JFK to 8th to Lake to Arguello and into the Presidio.  I rode around and came out the Lombard gate and then took Chestnut to Gough to Francisco to Bay to Columbus to Clay to Sansome and into work.

  • Thursday, June 26

I headed off after work Sutter to Octavia to Sacramento to Laguna,  These are some of the fabulous apartment buildings on Octavia that look into the Marina:

This is the view down Washington from Lafayette Park looking towards Alta Plaza:

I continued on Octavia to Pacific to Lyon to Jackson.  This Tudorlicious place is on Jackson at Locust:

I continued on Jackson to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Balboa and down to the coast.  The smoke in the air was giving the sun a creepy golden glow that was reflecting on the ocean:

But that didn’t deter people from frolicking in it:

Me with Sutro Heights in the background:

I came down the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at JFK and followed it to the Panhandle and then took Stanyon to Waller to Buena Vista West to Upper Terrace to Roosevelt to 17th and then home to play with the dogs.

  • Thursday, June 26

I woke up an hour late this morning.  %&#*&@(!!!  But I managed to get everybody fed and walked and myself showered and out the door at a respectable time.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  I came up the Great Highway to Point Lobos into Geary to 35th to Clement to 34th and up the the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  Which looked bathed in a creepy golden light courtesy of all the smoke that still in the air:

    Me in front of it:

I came down Camino Del Mar to Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore to Washington.  This is a cool apartment building on Alta Plaza on Washington Street.  The mansion to the left is where Danielle Steel lives, I think.  It’s really big but it doesn’t seem to be in the greatest shape and it has all these overgrown shrubbery in the front that looks off.

I continued on Washington.  This is the view from the top of Russian Hill looking down towards the Financial District:

And some great buildings.  I think this is Jones Street maybe??

I continued on Washington to Powell to Clay.  This building under renovation is going to look really beautiful:

There’s an aweome apartment building next to it:

I headed down Clay.  This building is on Kearny between Clay and Washington.  I love the gratuitously oversized brackets:

I continued on Clay to Sansome and into work.

  • Wednesday, June 25

I headed off after work Market to Turk to Arguello to Cabrillo to Funston and into Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden.  The roses don’t seem to mind the hazy, smoky weather we’ve been having and the garden was in full bloom:

I took JFK over to Stow Lake and got a pic of the Chinese Pavilion:

And also the pretty waterfall next to it:

I took MLK to the Great Highway and then went down the coast to Taravel.  These dogs were barking at me at Taravel and Great Highway.  Their message:  “Stay out of my yard!”

I took Taravel to Dewey to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola and then home.  I headed off to the dog park with the boys and everybody had a great time:

The sun was a creepy orange color from all the smoke:

    A last shot of Rufus:

Mr. Poe’s out of town for nearly two weeks which is awful.  I got everybody fed and then I had a flat on both my commuter and my road bike that needed changing.  By the time I got that done and the kitchen cleaned up it was already almost 10.  Waaay past my bedtime so I went to bed.

I passed the 6,000 mile mark today and I”m very pleased about that.

    Bike Mileage:
    Today                                         39.4

  • Wednesday, June 25

I didn’t have any problem getting up this morning.  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Fowler to Teresita to Gaviota to Bella Vista to Burlwood to Los Palmos to Hazelwood to Yerba Buena to Brentwood to El Verano into NorthGate to Darien to San Fernando to Ocean to Eucalyptus to Middlefield to Lake Merced.  The lake looked serene in the morning fog:

I continued on Lake Merced to Skyline to the Great Highway up the coast and went into Golden Gate Park at JFK.  I followed it the Panhandle and then took Baker to McAllister to Larkin to Post.  This building is an Academy of Art building and the sculpture in front of it looks terrific from a distance.  But don’t get too close.

I stopped at Union Square to admire David Beckham’s enormous crotch:

Which is almost the size of my head:

This is one of the beautiful Union Square buildings.  No it isn’t as jaw dropping as David Beckham’s crotch.  But you’re free to ogle it at will without the risk of Victoria Beckham beating you to death with her Birkin Bag.  Or maybe he Choos.

I continued on Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into work.

  • Tuesday, June 24

I was busy all weekend and didn’t get on my bike and then on Monday I wasn’t feeling very well so I worked from home.  I couldn’t get out of bed on Tuesday morning either, but I finally managed to make my way down Market into work.  I headed home for lunch to check on the dogs and then after work I took a nice ride.  We’ve got a lot of fires burning and you can smell the smoke in the air.  Yuck.  So I stayed close to the water and hoped that it would be better.  I headed off Sansome to Jackson to Davis to drop off my dry cleaning and then Broadway to Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Franklin to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I came around on Lincoln and stopped a little west of the Golden Gate Bridge to take a pic of the hazy afternoon:

And me from the same spot:

I continued on Lincoln  into Camino Del Mar to 27th to Balboa and down to the coast.  I came down the Great Highway.  There were a bunch of people on the beach:

And kite surfing is really neat to look at:

I headed into Golden Gate Park at JFK and took it into the panhandle.  Then I took Baker into Buena Vista East.  This is one of the many beautiful homes on Buena Vista East:

    Check out the detail:

Here’s another one.  Traditional form, but the abstracted Ionic pillasters on the windows seems so modern.  I like:

Here’s a couple more fabulous homes:

I continued on Buena Vista East to Upper Terrace to Roosevelt to 17th and home.  I’d missed my bike.

  • Friday, June 20

It was hot!  It was too sticky in the morning to go for a ride without needing a shower by the time I got to work and waaaay to hot after work to go anywhere but home.  So I went into work straight down Market and came home the same way.
