    I headed out after work Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Gough to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I came around on Lincoln and got a fabulous late afternoon shot of the Marin Headlands:

    I continued on Lincoln into Camino Del Mar and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor where I stopped to take pics:

      

      

    I came down to 34th Street where my shifter cable broke leaving my bike rideable but stuck in the hardest gear.  Not good.  I took 34th to Cabrillo to 30th and into Golden Gate Park and then JFK to Stanyon to stop at the closest bike shop to see if they could fix it.  They didn't have time to look at it and, in addition were pretty surly.  I won't be going back to American Cyclery anytime soon.  I called REI and nice Larry said they could look at it if I brought it down so I took Haight to Octavia to Page to Market to 8th to Brannon and into REI.  It turned out that when the cable broke, part of it got stuck in the shifter or damaged the shifter or something and he couldn't fix it because shifters aren't really designed to be openable anymore and he couldn't get in to see where it was stuck/damaged.  The good news is that the shifter is still under warranty but they're gonna have to order the part which is going to take a while.  I think I'll probably get a new front wheel while I'm at it because it's pretty old and needs to be swapped out.  I'm really liking the wheel they built for me last month and I'm hoping for more of the same.  I'm going to take it in on Sunday when I take my road bike in to get its fancy new brakes so I'm gonna be on my Kona bike all next week.  Which is kind of gonna suck.  I'm really determined to hit 5,000 miles by the end of the month and the clock is ticking....
