  • I’m rider #1769 in the 2008 AIDS Lifecycle

I’m starting to get really excited for the Lifecycle which is coming up pretty quickly.  The AIDS lifecycle benefits the San Francisco AIDS foundation and provides funding for HIV services and advocacy right here in San Francisco.  It’s the first week in June.  I’d really appreciate it if you pledged me if you haven’t already.

    Thanks!

I was a little sore this morning from yesterday’s ride but I headed off anyway.  I took Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the Coast.  I came up the Great Highway to Geary and then up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  I got a pic of that Di Suvero sculpture that I still don’t get but I must admit it’s growing on me because it’s got such a feeling of momentum and movement to it:

Here’s the museum in the cool morning light:

And me looking a little dewy:

This is the view from just below the Holocost Memorial across to Marin:

I took El Camino Del Mar to Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore to Jackson where I saw this great stone mansion.  It’s litlerally crumbling but it’s so grand and so beautiful.  I like:

I took Jackson to Gough to Pacific to Powell to Jackson.  This the Chinese Hospital on Jackson between Powell and Stockton:

And this is the view down Jackson towards the Financial District from the same point:

I continued on Jackson to Montgomery to Clay to Sansome and into work.

  • Sunday, March 30

Today was the Lifecycle Expo so I didn’t have a training ride scheduled.  I took the opportunity to go for a nice long ride by myself.  It was lots and lots of fun.  I headed off over the bridge and then over to San Rafael and China Camp State Park.  The North Bay looked beautiful in the cool spring morning light:

I continued onto the Civic Center.  Which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is all shades of fabulous.  I’ve never seen the inside but it’s on my list:

    Check out this beautiful detail:

I headed over to Lucas Valley Road and climbed to the top of the valley.  This is the view looking back towards San Rafael.  Stunning:

Then I dropped into Nicasio Valley, rode around the reservoir and headed up to the Cheese Factory.  The pond there was filled with people having picnics even though it was very windy and kind of cold:

I headed up a little further and then headed towards Marshall.  The valley is really pretty and has really great cycling:

Then I climbed to the top of the coastal mountains and the wind started becoming a definite problem.  I’m not heavy and I was worried I was going to get blown off my bike.  Here’s the view from the top:

The wind didn’t seem to bother these sheep:

I came down the mountain pretty slowly because it was so windy I was having trouble steering.  And it was kind of scary but I made it down and once I hit Bolinas Bay the wind was at my back.  Huzzah!  This is an old restaurant in Marshall that I think is vacant now:

    .

And this is the beautiful Bolinas Bay:

And me with it in the background:

I headed down to Point Reyes Station and then Olema and then over the Olema hill and up San Geronimo Valley through Samuel P Taylor park.  Then over White’s hill where half the people milling about look like small time drug dealers.  Could that even be possible??  It’s wall to wall white trash!  In Marin!  Where do they live??  Do they bus them in from Contra Costa County?  Then I headed through Ross and over Camino Alto and stopped in at Mike’s Bikes where super cute Jeff trimmed his beard a litlte and has regained a little of his hotness.  Keep working on that baby!  Then I headed back over the bridge and went home for dinner.  I was really tired but it had been a fun, fun day.

Nathan and Daniel came over for lunch when I got back from biking.
Nathan had a much better camera than I do and he took a lot of really
nice pics. And here they are:

    Thinking about hating you:

These damn dogs are driving her to drink:

Daniel and Ashley really get along well together.

Ashley actually managed to get tuckered out after a while.  I couldn’t believe it either.  And it didn’t last.

Here’s Mr. Poe cookin’.  Hello gorgeous!

We went to the park where the dogs played and played:

He never complains about being tucked inside my jacket:

This is the one good picture I took.  It was easy!  Daniel always looks cute:

Nathan and Daniel headed off shopping and Mr. Poe and I headed down for dinner with friends on the Peninsula.  Fun day.

It was still wet in the morning but the rain had stopped and it was starting to dry off.  I headed off 18th to Valencia and got a few shots of the new City College building that I’m so crazy about:

    Loving this:

    Especially this:

I continued on Valencia into Richland to Leese to Crescent to Agnon to Justin into Congdon to Silver to Cambridge to Bacon to Brussels where I spied this building.  It’s currently the San Fransico Healing Center which is a holistic treatment center.  The building itself looks much older than anything around it. It looks 1870′s to me.  Maybe it was a farmhouse or a country house.  It’s big and sturdy but not too heavily detailed:

I continued on Bacon to San Bruno into Bayshore to Guadalupe Canyon Parkway.  I stopped halfway up to get some pics of Brisbane:

I took the Parkway into Daly City and then into East Market to San Pedro to Eastmoor to Westmoor to Skyline to the Great Highway to Geary to 34th and up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  The sun was starting to come out!

This is the Holocost Memorial from the Legion of Honor grounds:

I got on El Camino del Mar and took that to Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore.  These prety Victorians are at Fillmore and Golden Gate:

I took Fillmore to Duboce to Sanchez to Market to 17th and then home.  I got a few shots of a new renovation they’re doing on Ord Street.  This house which currently backs to Ord will be brought forward (I think) to Douglas Street on top of a new garage they’re building and then a new home will be built on the Ord Stret side.  So exciting!

  • Friday, March 28

It started raining in the late afternoon but it was more drizzly than pouring so I went riding after work anyway.  I headed off Columbus to North Point to Van Ness to Francisco to Octavia to Chestnut to Lyon and into the Presidio.  I came around on Lincoln and stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge for pics.  Heavy on the fog:

And I’m a little dewy yet still smilin’

I continued on Lincoln and came out of the Presidio at El Camino Del Mar.  I Got on 28th and got a pic of a pretty Seacliff home on a drizzly evening:

I continued on 28th to Cabrillo down to the ocean and then Great Highway to JFK in Golden Gate Park.  I rode through the park and came out in the Panhandle and then took Stanyon to Page to Scott to Duboce to Noe to Market to 17th and then home for dinner.

    Bike Mileage:
    Today                                    36.7

  • Friday, March 28

Happy Friday!  I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Pacheco to Lopez to Sotelo where I saw this exquisitely detailed home.  I love houses that are not enormous but highly detailed:

Check out this beautiful little balcony.  I like!

I continued on Sotelo to 9th to12th to Quintara.  This is the view from Quintara and 14th Ave.  It’s fabulous!  Looking Northwest:

    Looking North

Looking East towards the rising sun:

Looking South towards San Bruno Mountain

I continued on 14th Ave where I immediately got an even better view of the Marin:

I took 14th to Lomita to 16th to Lawton and down to the coast.  I took the Great Highway to Golden Gate Park and took MLK to Middle to JFK and into the Panhandle and then I got on Baker.  This wonderful Victorian that I’ve photographed before is on Baker at Fulton.  It could do with a better paint job but it’s so beautifully detailed.

I continued on Baker to McAllister to Polk to Bush to Sansome and into work.

  • Thursday, March 25

I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Broderick to Washington.  I’ve decided that Washington is a much better street than Clay to hit Arguello from because it has a stop sign whereas Clay does not.  I got a shot of the north bay looking down from Spruce Street:

I continued on Washington to Arguello to and into Golden Gate Park.  I came down JFK and got a nice shot of the De Young:

Then I headed over to Stow Lake.  This is the UCSF campus with Stow Lake in the foreground:

The Chinese Pavilion.  Ideal for all of your pavilion needs:

And one of me as well:

I headed over to MLK and took it to La Playa.  This building is on La Playa and Irving.  I love the color on it.  It’s really pretty in the sunlight and very cheerful in the fog.  Lime and rasberry!  Who’d have thought it??

I got on the Great Highway and took it to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett and home.  We took the dogs to the park and then Mr. Poe had made me yet another delicious dinner. I’m so not looking forward to him having to go back to work next week.

    Today                                    39.7

  • Thursday, March 27

It was freezing cold this morning.  That cute twinky asian guy that I blogged about on December 11 was masturbating on the street on 17th street again this morning.  What’s up with that??  You can tell that I’ve been living in San Francisco for a long time because the only part about it that shocks me is how cold it was.  Brrrr…..

I headed off Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and down to the coast.  It was freezing at the coast and my fingers were numb.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK.  I followed it to the Music Concourse and then took JFK to 8th to Lake to Arguello and into the Presidio.  I came out of the Presidio at the Lombard Gate and stopped by to look at the construction going on at the Palace of Fine Arts:

And me in front of it:

I the took Beach to Scott to Alhambra to Cervantes to Bay to Laguna to Francisco to Van Ness to North Point to the Embarcadero to Washington to Battery to Sacramento to Sansome and into work.

  • Wednesday, March 26

I headed off after work down Howard.  The new Intercontinental Hotel is just about finished if and I have mixed feelings about it.  It’s pretty and I like all the blue glass but it doesn’t take any chances and there’s a fundamental blandness about it that kind of turns me off, and i’m picking up a little cheapness from it.  I got a nice shot of it from the corner of 5th and Howard, but even my attempted dramatic angle is kind of a yawn:

I continued down Howard where I spied this fantastic Deco warehouse that’s not in the greatest condition but it’s so beautiful and so finely detailed.  I approve:

    And the detail:

I continued on Howard to 11th to Harrison.  This building looks like it’s under construction.  I’m going to keep an eye on it because it looks awful now but I’ll bet it will be beautiufl when it’s completed:

I took Harrison to 25th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey.  It had been getting progressively more drizzly and I almost headed home but when you’re 300 miles behind schedule sometimes you gotta ride in the rain.  I continued on Monterey to Plymouth to Montecito to Westwood to Elmwood to Faxon where I saw blue sky ahead!  Hooray!

Here’s a delighted me in the welcome sun:

You can see the rest of the storm heading south.

I took Faxon to Ocean to Clearfield into 34th to Yorba to 35th to Vicente and down to the ocean.  I came up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK and took it to Middle to JFK to Stanyon to Page to Scott to Duboce to Castro to 17th and then home.
