We took little Ashley down to the Union Square so Mr. Poe could do some shopping. Ashley was very popular in the mall. Here we are outside the book store. You can hardly notice by my delighted expression that he'd just peed in my lap. It was just a little.

This is the dome of the Westfield Center. Beside the facade, this is pretty much all that remains of the old Emporium store that was once on this site:

I can also unfortunately report that the super cute guy at the Yves Saint Laurent counter isn't looking super cute these days but instead like he's been up drinking for three days. He looked a little tired, a little puffy, and a little old. Quelle Horreur! He needs to lay off the sauce and get his ass into the gym. Because there are things that Touche Eclat cannot fix.
After we got back I had a little lunch and took Rufus for a long walk. He's been feeling a little left out since we've gotten the baby because it's thrown everybody's schedule out of whack. So we took a long, rambling walk through the Castro, over to Alamo Square, out to Pacific Heights, over to Japantown and then home through Hayes Valley. It was a beautiful day!
This house at Page and Steiner was converted into apartments and the entrance moved to the basement. They put a really ugly window where the front door used to be and it's kind a shame because it's a really beautiful house:

This mansion is at Fell and Steiner. Also converted into apartments, I think, which explains the facade ruining fire escapes all over the building:

This house is at Steiner and Hayes. You wouldn't really notice it very much, but it has the most gorgeously restrained entrance that's so beautifully executed:

This is the shot of Steiner between Hayes and Grove that's in all the books. It Victorianilicious:

This pretty building at Grove and Steiner is the victim of a bad attic extension. I think it's a school now. It's was once a pretty building but now, not so much. Kind of like Priscilla Presley:

This is the view up Fulton from Alamo Square at Pierce:

And the view down Pierce from the same vantage point. That's Alta Plaza opposite:

This pretty house is on Pierce:

As is this fabulous mural:

St Dominic's:

This is the view from Alta Plaza looking towards Japantown:

This is the big fabulous apartment building at Jackson and Steiner:

Pretty holiday display in the Shu Uemura window on Fillmore Street:

I think I finally found a good vantage point to photograph this building in Japantown at Webster and Post:

The bridge over Webster:

I saw a couple Fedex MD11's taking off for Asia from Oakland. I love MD11's. So pretty:

This is the view down Turk Street. You can see that huge apartment building at One Rincon Hill:

The view down Fulton to City Hall:

This pretty mural is on a parking garage. It's by Josef Norris and you can visit his website here:

This fabulous building is on Gough at Hayes:

This is the playgroung on Octavia from Fell. It's hard to believe that just a few short years ago there was a freeway exit here and the only visitors were crackheads. This neighborhood has blossomed since:

This apartment building has just been repainted. It was on Skid Row five years ago but today is a nice place to live:

This big building used to be a hotel and is now apartment. It has a fabulous bar on the first floor:

Rufus was pretty beat by the time we got home and he tried to nap but the baby wasn't going to let him:

Nathan came over to help decorate for Christmas that night. My Santa hat finally came out of storage. Christmas has arrived! Rufus was not crazy about the Reindeer horns:

Mimi didn't mid them. I think she thought they were slimming:

Ashley had completely conked out by 8PM or so:

But Mr. Poe was still cleaning:

He was still cleaning when I went to bed. It was an exhausting day.
