Merry Christmas!
I got up nice and early and headed off on my bike. I headed down 18th to Dolores to 19th where I saw this beautiful lighted tree.

I continued on to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Plymouth to Montecito to Northwood to Westwood to Wildwood to Faxon to Holloway to Font to Lake Merced to John Daly where I got this great view of the sun rising behind San Bruno mountain:

I continued on John Daly to Skyline where I got this beautiful view of the coast with Marin Headlands and Mount Tam in the background:

I came up the coast and got on the Great Highway and rode that up to Geary and then to the Palace of the Legion on Honor. It was a cold, clear morning and there was a great view of downtown from there:

The museum looked gorgeous in the morning light:

As did I:

I went down Camino del Mar to Lincoln in the Presidio. There wasn’t a lot of bridge traffic which is really rare:

I continued on Lincoln and then made my way down to Crissy Field. This is the Golden Gate Bridge rising behind the old hanger buildings on Crissy Field:

I continued past Crissy Field and then I went through the Marina and then over Fort Mason and up Columbus to Montgomery. The Financial District was deserted:

I continued on Montgomery to Market and then home. The dogs were very happy to see me. Even sweet little Sofi:

I got changed and we headed off for the spectacular brunch I was taking Mr. Poe to at the Top of the Mark. We drove because I didn’t think he’d be able to do a lot of walking after a buffet lunch. I was right. This is the Masonic Auditorium on California on Nob Hill. It’s modern and fabulous:

Are these the Village People?? I think they are:

This is the Flood Mansion dates from 1886 and you can read more about it here. It’s currently the home of the Pacific Union Club.

Hello gorgeous!

This is the Fairmont Hotel:

This is the Mark Hopkins Hotel. The Top of the Mark is the fabulous restaurant on the top floor of it.

I think this is my favorite hotel in the city because the interiors are swanky and cool without being too crazy-opulent like the Palace or the Fairmont:

We got one of the nicest tables in the restaurant: right at a window with fantastic views west and north:

The other side of the restaurant had a great view of Union Square. It had a rare view of one of my favorites, 450 Sutter the Maya Revival building:

Here is Mr. Poe about to dive into plate #3 from the buffet. I wanted to document it in case the cardiologist wanted to know what he’d eaten that day:

After a couple of hours I managed to roll him out of the hotel and we headed back to the car. This is the pretty view South from the driveway of the hotel:

This is the view down Taylor at the new Federal building I like so much:

We went home and Mr. Poe had to sleep off brunch for a couple of hours. I took Rufus and Sofi to the park so they would be nice and sleepy for when the guests came. We were at the park for an hour and a half and they were practically comatose by the time we got home. Here I am with Rufus and Ashley:

And just Rufus and Ashley. Rufus is such a good boy with the new puppy:

Russ and the Fangs came over for dinner and it was really fun. Mr. Poe managed to roust himself from his shellfish induced coma and made a delicious Italian meal. I still managed to go to be early. It had been a long, fun, day.
