Month: November 2007

  • Monday, November 5

I had yet another flat on my commuter bike when I went to go home for lunch.  There's something either in the tire that I haven't been able to find or maybe it's the rim itself but I doubt that because the wheels I have are pretty smooth on the inside of the rim and don't even need to be taped.  I'm going to try again in sunlight to find the piece of glass and if that doesn't work I'm getting a new tire.

It was dark when I left work.  There are a lot of well lit streets in San Francisco and I've got bike lights front and back so I've good on the streets after dark.  I headed out Geary to Polk to Sutter to Fillmore.  Fillmore street already has Christmas lights up!  No it is not too soon.

I took Fillmore to Sacramento where I got a good shot of the Vogue theater with it's great neon sign:

and one of me as well:

I took Sacramento to Arguello to Lake to 8th Ave to Cabrillo down to the Great Highway.  I headed down to Lake Merced.  It gets very, very dark down there past Sloat St after dark and I think I will avoid that in the future.  Then I came around Lake Merced and took Middlefield to Eucalypus to Ocean and into class.  After Class I took Foerster to Teresita to Fowler to Portola to Corbett and then home.

    Bike Mileage:

  • Happy Daylight Savings!  I'm loving that the sun was up so much earlier this morning, but it was extremely foggy so I still didn't get a lot of good pics.

I rode out Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel.  I headed down Taravel and this is how foggy it was at 19th ave:

Good thing I had lights!  I continued down to the Great Highway and then went up to to Geary and then to the Palace of the Legion of Honor.  I came down Lake to Arguello to Clay to Fillmore to Post.  This is a foggy Peace Plaza:

And here's me in the new jersey that Chris and David brought me back from Toronto:

I continued on Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into work.

  • Sunday, November 4

I led a training ride today and we had a lot of fun. We did the Lake Merced loop from McLaren Lodge in Golden Gate Park. We had 28 riders including ride leaders and it went pretty well. We only had five ride leaders and all but one of us got bunched at the back because we had a bunch of new riders and we were following them pretty closely. I think some of the riders in the middle felt a little abandoned, but I think that they thought they were at the end of the pack when really they were in the middle.

Here I am on the Great Highway.  I think I look kind of crazy.

This is Gilbert who had a very long day.  There were tons of surfers on the beach but I didn't get a chance to go oogle them :(

This is Kurt and Dan. Dan is a new ride leader and he is so sweet. I think he did a great job and he's going to be a real asset to the ride leader program:

And finally my fabulous husband. Hello gorgeous! After this we had to get him several slices of Pizza.

I didn't manage to get a shot of the other three ride leaders, Dave, Wilfredo and Geoff, but I can report that Wilfredo's animated intersection pointing rivals and perhaps exceeds my own. That bitch, I'll claw her eyes out.

Rufus has been having so much fun this weekend playing with Sofi.  But it's taken it's toll.  Here is Sofi looking alert and ready to play:

Rufus, on the other hand, is ready for bed:

We all went to bed early and luckily, Sofi was more tired than she looked.

I went for a ride on Saturday afternoon but I didn't take my camera so I don't have any pics :( I rode Corbett to Portola to Sloat to 20th to Euclid to Middlefield to Lake Merced Blvd to Southgate to 87th into School to Mission to Garibaldi to Price to Guadalupe Canyon to Bayshore into 3rd to Paul to San Bruno to Silver to Cambridge and then over the footbridge into Saint Mary's Park and then Justin to Mission to Richland to Arlington to San Jose Ave to 29th to Tiffany to Valencia to 18th to Diamond and then home on 17th.

Sofi Duplantis Walker has been staying with us since Friday morning and Rufus loves her so much and they play almost non stop. I love it when she visits because he's never this happy. Mimi only wants her dead the tiniest little bit.

  • Friday, November 2

I got a very late start this morning so I had to take a bit of a shorter ride.  I rode Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus into Juday and then down to the Great Highway.  I came up the coast and came up Cabrillo.  There was this weird patchy fog all around the city where some areas had sun and others extremely low visibility.  It was nuts:

I took Cabrillo to Arguello to McAllister to Parker to Golden Gate.  This is the side view of the Tudorlicious house I photographed on Tuesday.  If I lived here I'd make everybody call me Mi'Lady.

    And one of me:

I continued on Golden Gate (without losing my camera this time) to Market to Sansome and into work.

  • Thursday, November 1

I headed out Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and then down to the coast.  I was heading up the Great Highway just as the sun was coming up.  I continued to Cabrillo to 8th Ave.   I stopped and took a few pics of the Star of the Sea:

And one of me as well:

I continued on 8th Ave to Lake to Arguello and into the Presidio.  I came out the Lombard Gate and took Greenwich to Larkin to Union to Columbus and into work.

Our network was down at work so I left early so I could work at home.  I rode up Columbus Ave.  This fabulous corner building must have fantastic veiws from the upper floors of the bay:

I took Columbus into Fishermans Wharf and then I went over Fort Mason into the Marina.  I took Marina blvd where I saw this liquifabulous building.  "Liquifabulous" refers to a beautiful building built on very poor soil:

The fog was starting to roll in but it was really compressed so I was in the sunshine but I could see a low visibility area just in front of me:

I went into the Presidio and got on Lincoln up to immigrant point.  The fog was clinging to the trees:

    And one of me:

I came out Wedemmeyer and then I came up Wyman back up to Washington through the golf course.  It was kind of spooky in the fog:

I came out the Arguello gate and then Lake to 8th Ave to Clement to Funston and into the Golden Gate Park at the Rose Garden.  Fall has definitely come to the Rose Garden, but there were still a couple of pretty flowers:

I rode through the park and came out at the Great Highway and then took Judah inot Parnassus to Clayton to 17th and then home.

    Bike Mileage:
    Today                             40.3

    Month to date                 40.3

  • Wednesday, October 31

I left work and headed out Geary to Polk to Sacramento to Arguello to Clement to Lake to 8th Ave.  I managed to get a pic of myself while riding. The action!

I continued down 8th Ave into Golden Gate Park.  I rode through the park and came out at the Great Highway and then I rode along that down towards Lake Merced.  I got a couple of shots of the coast in the dwindling light.  The beach is a lonely place on a foggy fall evening:

This is the Great Highway looking south:

I went around the Lake Merced and took Middlefield to Eucalyptus to Ocean to
Phelan and into school.  After, I headed home Foerster to Teresita to
Fowler to Portola to Corbett and home.

    Bike Mileage:
    Today                            41.6
    Week to date                 69.9
