I took Rufus out to the park one last time and then it was time for the guests to arrive.  Wilfredo and Michael were the first to arrive:

Followed quickly by Nathan and Daniel Fang and Russ my lifecycle tentmate. Here is Nathan being molested by Daniel:

Mr. Poe cooked up a storm.  Here are two views of him.  One expressing how excited he is that he's getting a big turkey dinner and one expressing how worn out is from cooking it:

Here is a picture of Nathan photographing Wilfredo and Michael:

And a glamorous shot of Russ:

The dogs were very well behaved the entire time.  Mostly.  Rufus was so tired from all the walking and playing all day that he slept through most of the meal.  Here he is lounging on Mimi's bed which he's a little big for:

And Jeff holding our little princess who was very well behaved and didn't kill anybody all night!  What a girl:

Here's a pic of Daniel stabbing Nathan.  Which I kind of think is understandable.  Nathan brings out the homicidal maniac in all of us.

I was was very, very tired when the guests left and we were in bed by nine.

I got up early and took Rufus for a two hour walk because we wanted him to be nice and sleepy when the guests came.  He had lots of fun and behaved pretty much perfectly.  He's such a good boy.  I got back and made Jeffery some country gravy and then got on my bike and headed out Corbett to Clayton to Waller to Stanyon and into Golden Gate Park.  I took JFK to Bernice Rodgers to MLK and then rode down the coast on the bike path.  I stopped at the beach at the foot of Sloat where the oild spill cleanup continues:

There was crazy surf out the surfers were out in force:

The view North towards the Marin Headlands:

    and the view South

And, of course, the view of me:

I think a bunch of the surfers were deciding whether the waves were too big to go in.  They kind of looked like I do when I'm trying to make the call about whether it's too rainy to go riding:

I continued down the coast Great Highway to Skyline and south.  I stopped just south of the Olympic club where there's a beautiful view of the coast. I think that's Devil's Slide jutting out into the ocean:

This is the view down to the ocean from where I stopped.  Crazy, crazy surf:

I took skyline to Westridge to Southgate to 87th.  This is the view of Daly City from there looking North towards the Marin Headlands:

I continued on 87th Street and got this picture of this Barbeque place that you could smell for two miles away and that Mr. Poe would likely enjoy:

I continued on 87th into School to Mission to Garibaldi to Price to Guadelupe Parkway and headed up.  I turned on Radio road and headed up to the top of the San Bruno Mountains.  It was a lot of climbing but the views were spectacular:

This is the Airport.  You can see everything from up there!

I headed down Radio back to Guadalupe Canyon to Bayshore to San Bruno where I saw this unbelievably fabulous fire station.  Love it, love it, love it:

I continued on San Bruno to Silver to Cambridge over the pedestrian footbridge into Saint Mary's Park and then Justin to College to Mission to Richland to Arlington to San Jose Ave to 29th to Tiffany to Valencia to 19th to Dolores to 18th to Diamond to 17th and then home.

  • Wednesday, November 21

I left work a bit early and headed off 2nd to Howard to 10th to Harrison and then into this mission.  This cheerful mural is on a warehouse on Harrison at about 16th:

I continued down Harrison.  These muraled buidlings are on Harrison at 24th:

I turned on 25th and was confronted by this fabulous thing at 25th and Mission.  It's just an explosion of something...  I'm not quite sure what but I'm definitely in favor of it:

I continued on 25th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey and then I headed for the ocean.  There's a beautiful view of the Marin headlands from the top of Monterey Blvd:

I almost missed this Tudorlicious place because it's hidden behind mature trees:

Here's me in front of it:

I took Monterey to San Rafael to Darien to San Fernando to Ocean to Lakeshore to Sloat and out to the coast.  The Ocean looked beautiful in the cool, late afternoon light:

I headed back home Vicente to 18th to Taravel to Kensington to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett and then home.

  • Wednesday, November 21

I was very cold again this morning.  Rufus, bless his heart, continues to be terrified of the forced air heat and cried from the moment I turned it on this morning,  Poor baby.  I headed out Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel to 14th to Ulloa to 16th to Vicente where I checked out pretty St. Cecilia's:

Here I am with Vicente behind me:

I headed down Vicente to Ocean Beach and then headed up the Great Highway to Golden Gate Park.  I headed into the park at JFK and the North Windmill looked especially beautiful:

I continued up JFK where I got this shot of the De Young enveloped in steam:

I came out of the park at Stanyon and followed the bike path in the panhandle.  These pretty Victorians are on Fell St:

As is this masionlicious spread.  I have a sneaking suspician that the original building was a hoisted up and turned into apartments and that's when the Rounded arch entry went in:

I took Baker to Mcallister.  These fabulous apartment buildings are in Alamo Square.  They're not all the greatest shape but they're so pretty!  The one in the middle has just been redone and is fabulous:

I continued on McAllister to Hyde to Market to Sansome and into work.

  • Tuesday, November 20

I headed off after work to 2nd St where I saw this pretty Christmas display at 2nd and Mission:

I then went Howard to 11th to Harrison to 24th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose into Glen Park.  Then I headed up Monterey to Yerba Buena to Miraloma to Portola to Corbett and then home.

    Bike Mileage:
    Today                             34.1
    Week to date                  66.5

  • Tuesday, November 20

It was cold cold cold this morning.  It was in the upper forties when I left the house and it took me a long time to get warmed up.  I rode Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and then down to the ocean which was much colder than anywhere else. I came up the Great Highway and got a pic of the Seal Rocks from Cabrillo:

And one of me as well:

I headed up Cabrillo.  I don't take a lot of pictures of Cabrillo because there aren't a lot of trees and the power wires kind of overpower the view.  But today, in the cold morning light, I thought they had an interesting geometry to them.  I still wish they'd put them all underground.

These are some of the homes on 37th St at Cabrillo:

I continued on Cabrillo to Arguello into the Presidio.  These homes are on Presidio in the Presidio.  I don't quite know how to date them.  Stylistically, I'd say 1870's or 1880's but that seems a little early.  They might have been done in a slightly nostalgic style all the way up to the 1920's.  I don't think that they could date after that.  The problem with them is that there isn't really any milled architectural detail to help with the date.

I headed out of the Presidio at the Lombard gate and rode Greenwich to Franklin to Francisco to Van Ness to North Point to Columbus and into work.

  • Monday, November 19

I took a few pics while I was out walking Monday afternoon getting my dry cleaning.  Medium starch, folded, and bagged.  These were all taken while I was walking around the Embarcadero.

After work I headed out Sutter to Fillmore to California to Steiner to Clay to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 8th Ave and into Golden Gate Park.  I came out of the park at 9th ave and wento Judah into Parnassus to Clayton to 17th and then home.

    Bike Mileage:
    Today                             32.4
    Week to date                  32.4
    Month to date                578.4

  • Monday, November 19

There were fog warnings all around the bay this morning, but not so much when I got out on the road.  I rode Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel down to the ocean.  I came up the Great Highway where I saw this cool view of the fog rolling in at the Golden Gate:

And one of me as well:

I headed up to Geary and then to the Palace of the Legion of Honor and then Down Camino Del Mar to Lake.  I got a couple of pics of a few of the glamorous homes on Lake Street:

This is the cool Maya Revival one I've photographed before.  The top level is a poorly executed addition.  It would nevertheless make a nice gift for me:

I continued down Lake to Arguello to California to Jordan.  This is the view down Jordan Street towards St. Ignatius:

I continued down Jordan to Euclid to Presidio to Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome and into work.

  • Sunday, November 18

I had a lifecycle training ride today, probably the last I'll lead for a while.  We headed off to Mill Valley from McLaren lodge.  We only had four riders but everybody had a good time.  I didn't manage to get any pics.  I was still feeling pretty lousy when I got home so I had a little dinner and went to bed very early.

    Bike Mileage:
    Today                             30.2
    Week to date                 225.5
    Month to date                546.0

  • Saturday, November 17

I stayed off the bike today because I wasn't feeling well and I had a ton of stuff to do.  Mr. Poe and I went to the store in the morning and then we headed down to Union Square.  This is the house down the street that people are living in while it gets renovated.  I don't find the way it's propped up to be very encouraging at all.  And all the plastic sheeting is just not a good sign:

We headed to the Westfield Center where we got an enormous amount of Korean food for lunch at Sorabol.  I saw this sight when we left the mall.  This guys is simultaneously eating a donut and smoking a cigarette.  Yuck.  In this pic you can see him licking his fingers of the hand holding his cigarette.  This one's a keeper:

This gorgeous building will soon be a Sketchers.  It's covered in these gorgeous grren tiles.  I can't wait to see it renovated:

The Christmas tree was up in Union Square but not fully decorated:

The beautiful windows at Macy were decorated with actual pets from the SPCA again.  Warning:  don't decorate with kittens at home!:

This is the big wreath on the men's store.  It looks a little corporate, but very pretty:

This is the craptastic light display at Barneys.  I looked a little cheap.

I went and got my hair done and then headed home for dinner and then I went to bed very, very early.
