Sunday, October 14
Mr. Poe worked awfully hard all day Saturday to make Mr. Chris's birthday party deliciously spectacular. I promised him that I'd make him country gravy on Sunday Morning. Anybody who's ever lived in the south can make country gravy. I believe it's part of the driver's license test. Except for New Orleans, whose fancy French cuisine thumbs its nose at anything with either "country" or "gravy" in the title. So Sunday rolled around and he'd been dreaming about country gravy for two days (I am not exaggerating) so I got up and made it for him. Which involved me touching raw sausage which was totally gross. The resulting gelatinous concoction was about a cup and a half of artery clogging goodness ladeled on top of two eggs, two biscuits, and three sausage patties. Mr. Poe ate every bit of it and I believe may have licked his plate as well. Here he is enjoying his breakfast:
I mean really enjoying it:
He was pretty much immobile for many hours after his feeding frenzy and I was pretty hung over from the night before. So he studied Spanish and I napped off and on for most of the afternoon. I discovered that Rufus is now too big to fit on Bubba's old bed. It's like he's growing exponentially. Call Godzilla!
Here's one of me holding him. Note that I kind of have Bukake hair:
And here's Mr. Poe, fully recovered from his breakfast getting kisses from Ms. Mimi "Chupacabra" Kissington. She's so precious you almost forget about all those sealed UN inditements.
We went to bed early with no biking all day.

I tried out a new route! Yes, even I find a new one every once is a while. I rode out Corbett to Portola to Fowler to Teresita to Foerster to Judson to Phelan to Ocean to Persia and up into McLaren Park. It was a gorgeous morning. We've had tons of rain and the hills are starting to turn green:
Then I headed down Visitacion Ave to Sawyer to Calgarty to Geneva to Rio Verde to Martin. This beautiful community center is part of Bayshore Heights Park:
I continued up Martin to Carter to Guadalupe Canyon Pkwy. Which is a gorgeous road with fantastic cycling and glorious views:
This is my "glorious view enjoyment" face:
I headed up Guadalupe Canyon Parkway and it looks like there's a road/hiking trail up to the antennas themselves but I didn't try to head up there because I had a big day planned and I didn't want to get delayed:
Guadalupe Canyon turns into E Market in downtown Daly City. Look at this fabulous building. I don't know what it was built for but it's a pool hall now:
This cool church is down the street from the pool hall:
It's got wonderful detail:
I took E Market to San Pedro to Washington to 87th and headed up towards Skyline. The neighborhoods are beautiful in the sun and the views are spectacular:
The I headed S Mayfair to John Daly Ave to Skyline and back into the city. I headed up the Great Highway and came up Vicente. I rode around Forest Hill for a while which looks beautiful:
And then I took Dewey to 7th Ave to Clarendon to Twin Peaks to Clayton to 17th and then home. We went to the grocery store and then I took the dogs for a walk while Mr. Poe started getting dinner ready. The weather was still gorgeous. Look at Mimi! Could this delightful creature really be the Chupacabra?
We walked around Ashbury Heights for a while which looked great in the late afternoon sun:
The view from the back:
I've photographed this beautiful building before. It's incredibly detailed and very beautiful:
This place is ready for Halloween! Or haunted.
Mr. Chris's birthday party was lots of fun. He looks fabulous! Who would guess he's 23??
Miss Smith can't hold her liquor.
Miss Smith finally gets it together for her super cute boyfriend Mr. Fang:
In a bold move, Rufus, who had already been in time out (aka his kennel) once for bad behavior lunged at David's cake and took a monster bite out of it. David offered to "eat around it". He got a new piece of cake and Rufus ended up back in his Kennel.
We finally got to bed around 10 and I was totally exhausted.

It rained all day but finally cleared up when I was going home so I went for a longer ride than I usually get after work. I rode Sutter to Presidio to Euclid to Arguello. I saw this protest on Arguello at the Burmese Consolate. It's hard to be a Junta!
From there I headed into Golden Gate Park and then out to the ocean on JFK. The storm had whipped up the surf and that meant one thing-- surfers! I got the nod from one of them who was walking back to his car. He must think the bikers are cool. Or at the very least dry.
Me with the remains of the storm behind me:
Lucky dog likes to play in the waves:
More surferliciousness:
I headed down the Great Highway and then came up Vicente. I stopped for a few pics at St. Cecilia's, which is my favorite:
Then I headed up Taravel to Dewey to Merced. Merced is a pretty street with great views of our famous radio tower:
I continued on Merced to Garcia to Idora to Portola. I stopped to take a pic of the city before heading home on Corbett:

Friday, October 12
It was raining lightly when I headed off on my bike but the rain increased and the temperature dropped. Ah, well, I guess cycling isn't all pelatons and performance enhancing drugs after all. I took Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and then down to the ocean. It started raining really hard by the time I got to the ocean. I headed up to Cabrillo and then started heading east. Here I am, wet and miserable, but with a smile on my face nonetheless because every day on a bike is a good day:
I continued on Cabrillo to Arguello to Clay to Steiner to Post to Kearny to Bush and into work. It was really, really cold by the time I got to work and I was really, really wet.

I got out of work a little late so I had to cut my ride short. I rode out Columbus to Fishermans Wharf. I got a few more shots of the fabulous curved condo buildings on North Point:
I headed over Fort Mason and then took Marina to Beach to Fillmore to Union to Steiner. I checked out St. Vincent De Paul in the late afternoon light. Still not one of my favorites.I don't like the roofline and I'm not crazy about the detail:
I continued up Steiner. And I mean up:
I turned on Broadway to get some pics of an enormous house with cool skylights on it's octagonal corner bay roof:
I took Broadway to Fillmore to Fulton to Scott to Duboce to Castro to 17th and then home.

It was cold this morning! But I headed off on the bike anyway. I rode Corbett to Clayton to Parnassus into Judah and then down to the Great Highway. The ocean looked beautiful but it was still pretty dark when I got there so no pics for you. I headed up to Geary and then to the Palace of the Legion of Honor where there was finally enough light for some pics:
I rode down El Camino del Mar down into the Presidio and then I got on Lincoln. I got a peek of the Golden Gate Bridge halfway up. The Golden Gate Bridge is a little like cleavage for San Francisco. You get a peek here and there but only get to see the whole thing if you're lucky. Or if you're into that sort of thing.

The Marin Headlands looked really pretty in the morning light. I think the recent rain is going to finally mean some green on them:I headed down to Crissy Field and got this cool shot of a dog playing on the damp field:
I headed out of the Presdidio at the Marina and then went over Fort Mason and then down into Fisherman's Wharf. I took Beach to the Embaracadero to Battery and then into work. My good frield Mr. Nick used to work at this building on Battery at Washington. I sure do miss him. But not his work outfits.
Then I headed into work.

I headed off after work Sutter to Presidio to Euclid to Arguello and then into Golden Gate Park. I stopped by Stow Lake it was very beautiful in the late afternoon light. My pics of the Chinese Pavilion didn't turn out but the one of me did. I guess:

I followed MLK down to the Ocean and then took the Great Highway down to Lake Merced. It's so pretty down there as the sun is setting. And I can prove it:
I took Lake Merced Blvd to Font to Holloway to Ashton to Ocean to Phelan and into school. It turns out the quiz I thought we had was actually a mid term but it didn't give me a lot of trouble. At least I hope it didn't. I headed home Foerster to Teresita to Evelyn to Portola to Corbett and then home. Mr. Poe had to work late so the dogs were very happy to see me.

We finally got some rain which was wonderful because it's been really dry and dusty. We got 6/10 of an inch which is kind of a lot and it was clearing up by the time I woke up. I headed out Corbett to Portola to Woodside to Dewey to Taravel and then down to the beach. The surf was crazy and I didn't see any surfers braving it. Here's me at a respectable distance:
I headed up the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at the North Windmill. I rode up JFK and got a great shot of the sun coming up behind the De Young:

Look how fantastically transparent the tower is in the light:I came out of the park at 8th Ave and rode 8th to Clement to Arguello to Euclid to Presidio to Post to Kearny to Bush and into work.

Some Chester in the elevator WOULD NOT STOP STARING AT MY CROTCH while I was heading out for lunch in bike clothes today. It was making me feel very uncomfortable and that maybe I should tell an adult. None of this would have been a problem if he'd been super cute or even reasonably cute but he was totally nasty and I was completely appalled. He almost got a "Dude stop staring at my crotch" out of me but luckily the elevator doors opened and I was able to escape.
I can't wait to get back to our old offices next month. I park my bike
in that building and I'll be a lot closer to it. and they keep trying
to make me sign in at this building because they think I'm a bike
messenger because I'm wearing bike clothes. Also, I can take the
stairs as opposed to the elevator. Which is a bonus because I'd prefer my minimize my role as eye candy for the Larry Craig set.I headed off after work up Columbus to North Point. I rode up North Point and took a few pics of Ghiradelli Square. Evidently, this site was purchased in 1962 and converted from a chocolate factory to a tourist destination in order to preserve the structure and keep it from being torn down, the first major adaptive re-use project in the US (or so says Wikipedia). Poor vegan Joseph doesn't get to eat a lot of chocolate these days, which is kind of a blessing given my notorious inability to monitor consumption when it came to candy. The sweetest thing in my life these days are chocolate chip bagels from Noah's, which are delicious. I mean Mr. Poe. Definitely Mr. Poe.
Down the street from the Ghiradelli factory is this fabulous condo building with a thrilling, curved facade. They are so cool looking and fabulous in every way. Except the location. Because who wants to have all their restaurant choices at Fisherman's Wharf??
I headed into Fort Mason which is really pretty. Similar to the Presidio in building style but much, much smaller:
It even has a little church!
This is the view across Fort Mason Park with ominous clouds looming in the background.
And me with the fabulous curved towers in the background:
I headed down Marina Blvd into the Presidio and stopped to take this picture of a setting sun behind increasingly threatening clouds.
I headed up Lincoln to Ralston to Kobbe to Washington and then out the Arguello Gate. I raced some cute boys down Arguello into Golden Gate Park. My recent washing of my bicycle seems to have made my computer work again which makes no sense but that's what happened. I headed into the Park and out at Stanyon where one of the cute guys from Arguello gave me the wave. Then I rode Beulah to Cole to Carmel to Clayton to Corbett and then home.
