I took Thursday off because I had to take a friend to Kaiser for a procedure and it was the kind where they wouldn’t do it if you couldn’t cough up somebody to pick you up. I spent much of the day in Golden Gate Park waiting on him and it was fabulous. At this point in the training season I don’t really have time for anything that doesn’t involve a bike so it was really nice to be off it and just wander around for a while. I headed over to Park Gyros in the sunset for lunch and then spent a couple of hours walking it off. First stop was the beautiful Botanical Gardens which I haven’t been to in forever. I want to come back with Mr. Poe on a Saturday as soon as the ride is over because he loves the gardens and he knows what everything is. Check it out:
This palm tree with an afro is a called a ‘Grass Tree’ and made me chuckle from across the garden because it looks so odd:
Then I headed over to the Rose Garden which doesn’t really have much going on yet:
Then over to the Conservatory of Flowers. They always have such pretty plantings:
Then I headed over to the Columbarium which is a fantastic structure built in 1898 to house cremated remains. You can read more about it here. I hadn’t been there in a long time and it was lots of fun to walk around. It’s very pretty:
The stained glass all over the building is amazing but I especially like this panel because the angel is totally giving a side eye. Love it.
I got home by about 4 and hung out with the dogs and waited for Mr. Poe. It was a fabulous day.
