I took Thursday off because I had to take a friend to Kaiser for a procedure and it was the kind where they wouldn’t do it if you couldn’t cough up somebody to pick you up.  I spent much of the day in Golden Gate Park waiting on him and it was fabulous.  At this point in the training season I don’t really have time for anything that doesn’t involve a bike so it was really nice to be off it and just wander around for a while.  I headed over to Park Gyros in the sunset for lunch and then spent a couple of hours walking it off.  First stop was the beautiful Botanical Gardens which I haven’t been to in forever.  I want to come back with Mr. Poe on a Saturday as soon as the ride is over because he loves the gardens and he knows what everything is.  Check it out:

This palm tree with an afro is a called a ‘Grass Tree’ and made me chuckle from across the garden because it looks so odd:

Then I headed over to the Rose Garden which doesn’t really have much going on yet:

Then over to the Conservatory of Flowers.  They always have such pretty plantings:

Then I headed over to the Columbarium which is a fantastic structure built in 1898 to house cremated remains.  You can read more about it here.  I hadn’t been there in a long time and it was lots of fun to walk around.  It’s very pretty:

The stained glass all over the building is amazing but I especially like this panel because the angel is totally giving a side eye.  Love it.

I got home by about 4 and hung out with the dogs and waited for Mr. Poe.  It was a fabulous day.

Wednesday was my ALC CAT2 Ride out to Tiburon.  We had a very fast group and made excellent time.  I’m waiting for the very new riders to start showing up for these rides but that hasn’t really happened yet.  Which means I guess we’ll get them in May.  The weather was warm and perfect and we had a great afternoon.  It’s so much less stressful to be leading these tiny little groups and I had a really good time.  Here are the riders:

I made it home before 6PM and had dinner and got cleaned up and went to bed.  It was a fabulous day.

Monday I walked into work.  It was cold and breezy bu it was dry so I wasn’t gonna complain.  First I headed up to pretty Buena Vista Park which is more than a little bit creepy at 6:45 in the morning but I moved quickly:

This is the beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands from Buena Vista East:

Then I made my way over to Pacific Heights and got a nice pic of the north bay from the top of the Lyons steps:

These are some of the glorious Gold Coast homes on Broadway:

I made my way into work via the top of Nob Hill.  It was a great walk.  I was wearing a pair of new running shoes that my mom helped me pick out and they were a really good choice.  I headed home for lunch and then went for a spinning class after work that almost but didn’t kick my ass.  I headed home for dinner and went to bed really early.  I couldn’t even make it to 8:30.

Sunday i got up very early and went to my Lifecycle training ride.  We headed out to Cheese Factory and then Novato in a new to the series route.  I think people liked it quite a bit and nobody got terribly lost.  The weather was very breezy but still it was sunny and not too cool so I wasn’t complaining.  Here’s some pics of some of the riders that I took throughout the day:

Friday I came into work Market to Laguna to McAllister to Polk to Eddy to Taylor to O’Farrell to Grant to Post to Kearny to Clay to Sansome.  I wasn’t feeling well in the morning so I headed home mid day on Muni and took a nap.  I felt pretty crappy the rest of the day.

Saturday I was feeling a bit better so I went for the jersey ride with Different Spokes.  Here’s the hotness at the Golden Gate Bridge:

I had to cut the ride short so I just rode Mini Tib.  I got home at about 1:30 and I ate and got cleaned up and then Mr. Poe drove us over to Oakland to go to Elaine’s house warming party.  Afterwards I dragged him home via Lake Merritt because I’d never been.  It’s super cute–  well part of it is:

    Mr. Poe and I:

We stopped at Truly Mediterranean in the Mission for dinner on the way home.  Their falafel is so delicious.  I had a long day on Sunday so I went to bed early.

After work I headed off 2nd to Townsend to 7th to Brannon to REI to see if they could find the rear blinky light that had disappeared while they were overhauling it a couple of weeks ago.  No luck so they gave me a new one.   They be the awesome.  I continued to 8th to Townsend to Kansas to 17th to Potrero to 25th to Bryant to Precita to Mission to College.  This pretty house is on college at the curve:

There’s a slip of a community garden across from it:

I headed down to St Marys.  This is actually St. John the Evangelist.  It was built on St. Mary’s College grounds and then the college moved to Morage:

Wednesday I came into work Market to Laguna to Post to Kearny to Clay to Sansome.  I headed home mid day for lunch and then led an ALC training ride out to Tiburon.  The weather was AMAZING.  It’s a rare day that I don’t have a jacket and leg warmers on and this was one of them.  It was sunny and gorgeous and warm but not too hot.  Here are Chad and Katerina lounging at Sharks:

I made it home about six and got a couple of pics of the garden.  Mr. Poe’s prize winnin’ wisteria looks and smells incredible.  So pretty:

Mr. Poe had to work late so I had to feed the dogs and myself.  After, I cleaned out my closet–  which was in horrifying disarray– and then I got ready for bed.

Monday I came into work Market to Laguna to McAllister to Polk to O’Farrell to Grant to Post to Kearny to Clay to Sansome.  I headed home for lunch and managed to turn the green chile stew I’d made for Mr. Poe into enchiladas for his dinner before heading back.  After work I went to the gym and took a spinning class which kicked my ass.  Then, Mr. Nick and I were texting about sweet little Ashley Sr. whose handsome grace and southern generosity made him a paragon of those who might crap on your floor.  The ham industry still hasn’t recovered from his passing.  Here he is wearing his Hawaiian shirt that he used to wear when he was complaining about young people and all the noise they made.  Miss you:

I headed home for dinner.  Mr. Poe liked his enchiladas quite a bit.  I tried to stay up late but didn’t even make it til 9.
