Saturday I got up early and walked the dogs.  We headed off for grocery shopping and then after lunch we drove out to Sloat Garden center and Mr. Poe went shopping while I walked home with Rufus.  I hadn’t taken him in a very long walk for some time and he’s pretty out of shape.  But that didn’t stop us.  First we headed over to Pine Lake which I hadn’t been to in years.  Pretty:

Then we walked around Stern Grove which seems so in the middle of nowhere for a place you can take a Muni train to:

Rufus was already looking a little worn out:

These are some of the pretty homes on Sloat and Portal:

This fabulous bank on Portal has wonderful art incorporated into it:

I headed up Ulloa and got a nice pic of Sutro tower rising behind St. Brendan’s:

Then we headed over Panoramic to Mountain Spring.  I love the west side of Twin Peaks.  Such mid century liciousness:

We headed home and I started cooking.  I made red onion marmalade which is onions cooked down in wine and honey.  The end product is beyond delicious and will be on my cooking blog as soon as I can get around to it.  I also made savory shortbread with cheddar cheese and bacon.  Mr. Poe loves them but I’m not completely satisfied.  I was hoping for something a little puffier and chewier.  My last attempt at savory biscuits was pretty much a fail so I feel like I’m improving but stay tuned!  After dinner we got cleaned up and ready for bed.  It’s so nice to have a weekend day that isn’t crazy busy because of Lifecycle stuff.  Rufus is gonna be tired for a week and I had an awesome day!
