Happy Valentines Day!  When I woke up I noted that Mr. Poe had left me a big pink box.  Who doesn’t love that??

It contained a new bathrobe for me.  Mr. Poe felt that the old one was a little worn and made me look homeless.  Likely true.

I worked from home in the afternoon so that I could make Mr. Poe valentine dinner and friend Trevor showed up in the late afternoon–  he lives in Denver and was in town for the weekend and we got to hang out with him for a couple of hours in between other obligations.  It was a total treat to see him and I hope we see him again soon.  I made Mr. Poe a gratin de morue a la lyonnaise which is a casserole of potatoes and cod in a sauce with cream and onions and cheese.  Mr. Poe loved it–  I could tell because he was actually dancing around the kitchen and eating it out of the pan. All in all a very successful Valentine’s day.

Wednesday was my ninth wedding anniversary.  It was such a crazy time in San Francisco back in 2004 when the city government unilaterally decided that they were going to start issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples.  They started marrying people on Thursday, Februaru 12 and everybody thought that some mean old judge would put an end to that almost immediately.  But then Friday came along and they were still issuing licenses so I called Mr. Poe at school mid day and told him to get his ass down to City Hall.  Mr. Nick joined us and took all the pics.  We didn’t really have time for a lot of planning so Mr. Poe got married in his school uniform and I was wearing Friday casual.  A couple of months later some mean old judge voided our marriages which pretty much sucked but we knew that would likely happen going in so it was OK.  Well, it wasn’t OK but we dealt with it.  We got married again in 2008 and that one is still legal.  Fingers crossed it will stay that way.  I love him so much.  Here we are getting married:

I came into work on muni and then headed home at lunch via Barney.  They were holding their twice annual ‘Love Yourself’ beauty event and I’m like a crackhead for skin care samples so I went right away.  The GWP was a little disappointing but I really like the stuff I got so it’s all good.  I had Korean for lunch at Westfield and then went home to check on the dogs and drop off my loot.  I came back on my bike and then went for a nice ride after work.

I rode 2nd to Howard to 11th into Bryant and 18th.  This mural is just a couple of months old and I love it long time.  It’s by an artist named Sirron Norris and you can read his blog here.  It’s so very imaginative and cute:

I continued on Bryant to 21st to Valencia.  I got this pic at 22nd and Valencia.  Fancy french food at Garcon!:

I continued on Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Monterey into Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Judah to 9th and into Golden Gate Park.  I came out of the park at 8th to Lake to Fillmore to Post to Laguna to Market to 17th to Ord and home.  Mr. Poe had to work late so I sorted the dogs and we waited for him to come home.  We didn’t get to bed until 10PM which is super late for us.

Happy Mardi Gras!  I’ll admit that Mardi Gras isn’t the holiday that makes me miss New Orleans.  Too crazy, too crowded, too drunk.  But although my Mardi Gras memories of years past may be foggy and incomplete I’m pretty sure I had an awesome time and would recommend it to anybody who feels the need to stay drunk for four days.

I wore these beads on my commute into work Market to 14th to Folsom to 2nd and was genuinely surprised that there weren’t throngs of young drunken women whipping out their hooters in an attempt to acquire them.  I hung out with Mr. Chris and DLW after work and we watched drag race.  I think Alaska should have gotten the axe over her terrible Pee Wee Herman impression.  Because it isn’t RuPaul’s Best Friend Out-Of-Drag Race.  I headed home for dinner and we went to bed early.

Sunday was my CAT2 training ride.  We had a different route around Tiburon and I thought it went pretty well.  We’ve got a nice group this year and training has been super fun.

Maya’s been coming in the sweep vehicle with us.  She’s super sweet:

    Here’s everybody stretching:

We had a beautiful ride around Seminary Point:

    Pics from Sharks in Tiburon:

We had lunch at Cafe Del Soul in Mill Valley:

We saw this group at the Golden Gate Bridge.  What the what with those kits?  Thomas thought they looked like enormous Prilosecs:

I headed home and got cleaned up.  Dinner guests showed at 6 and we had a really nice time.  I think this is likely the last dinner party for me until after the Lifecycle:

We kicked the dinner guests out around 8PM and went to bed.  We were beat.

Saturday I led the Different Spokes monthly jersey ride.  We had a great weather and it was a really fun day.  Wanderson was able to join us and that’s always an extra special treat.  We rode Reverse Tib Loop and I thought everybody looked pretty good riding.

I got this gorgeous pic of the north bay from Washington and Spruce:

    Here’s everybody at the bridge:

I love this pretty tower at the beginning of Paradise:

Hotness at the Golden Gate Bridge on the way home:

I headed home and got cleaned up and started cooking for the dinner party Sunday night.  I wasn’t done until 11PM which was very late.  But at least I got everything that I wanted completed and pretty much everything turned out.

It was a busy week.   I rode a little on Tuesday and Wednesday but I’m pretty behind.  Friday was pretty cold.  I came into work Market to 14th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome.  I headed home for lunch but it was so pretty I took a longer route:  Market to Page to Shrader to Haight to Stanyan to Waller to Cole to Rivoli to Belvedere to Clayton to Corbett to Ord.  I came down Market back into work.  It got a lot cooler as the day wore on and I thought it was gonna be too cold for a ride after work so I went for a walk.  First I headed over to Telegraph Hill and got some pics of the Greenwich Steps:

    Me:

Then I headed to the top of Telegraph Hill:

Then I headed over to Jack Early Park:

I headed over to Russian Hill and then Nob Hill before heading back to the office to pick up my bike.  But I was all warmed up by then so I ended up going for a nice ride.  I headed out Market to Page to Stanyan and into Golden Gate Park and then over to the Mucic Concourse and out of the park at 9th and then Judah to 7th into Laguna Honda to Dewey to Claremont to Santa Clara into Monterey to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 20th to Church to 19th to Eureka to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe was at a movie so I fed the dogs and waited for him to come home.  We went to bed pretty early but I didn’t sleep very well.  It must have been all of the fun.

Sunday was my CAT2 training ride out to Fairfax.  I headed over to the Sports Basement with Mark and Brendan and we waited for riders to show.  We’ve got a good looking group this year:

Elton has a Hello Kitty Bike.  I was all ‘Bitch get off of my street corner!”:

Here’s everybody at the bridge before we headed home:

We headed home and got cleaned up.  I said goodbye to Brendan and Mark and then we had dinner and went to bed.  Early.  I couldn’t even stay up til 8.

Friday I came into work on Muni and headed home the same way.  I headed home a little early because we had house guests coming in and I was feeding them dinner.  Mark and Brendan came up from Los Angeles and we had a great time.  I love it when they’re visiting.  I made them brandade de morue and french onion soup.  Everything turned out really well.  I didn’t get a lot of good pics but expect both of those things to show up on my cooking blog.

Saturday I led a ride out to Lucas Valley with Different Spokes.  I had initially put in on the calendar two weeks earlier, but I had a lot to get done the weekend before I headed to Florida so I asked David and Will to lead it for me.  We were pretty cold all day but it was sunny and I wasn’t gonna complain.  Here’s everybody at Perry’s in Fairfax:

This is the view from the top of Lucas Valley:

I felt very slow but I had a good ride although I was definitely feeling it towards the end.  I got a couple of pics at the bridge before we headed back to San Francisco:

Thursday I walked into work.  The weather was cold but gorgeous.  I headed over to Alamo Square where I got a couple of pics of some of the gorgeous buildings there:

This is the fantastic ‘Seattle Block’ on Golden Gate at Steiner:

I headed through Japantown to Lafeyette Park and over Nob Hill to work.  It came in at a little over five miles.  I headed home for lunch and brought my bike back and then went for a short ride after work.  I headed off Sansome to Jackson to Davis to drop off my laundry and then headed Broadway to Columbus to Stockton and I stopped at Washington Square:

I continued on Stockton to North Point to Polk to Pacific to Webster to Page to Scott to Duboce to Noe to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  I did a little cooking for incoming house guests and then I went to bed.
