Monday I came into work Market to Laguna to McAllister to Polk to Post to Kearny to Clay to Sansome. I headed home for lunch and noted police looking to give tickets to cyclists on Market. I can see all the fuss during the commute but don’t the police have better things to do in the middle of the day when there are hardly any bikes on the road? After work I headed home 2nd to Howard to 11th to Harrison to 18th to Douglass to 17th to Ord and home for dinner. The ticket I’d gotten two Sundays ago while biking in Marin was waiting for me. I’d kind of been tossing around the notion of going to the class and getting my fine down from $230 to $50. Cheap Joseph considered the class mandatory but realistic Joseph wasn’t looking forward to a class from 6:30 – 8:30 on a Thursday in San Rafael. But when I looked at the ticket I could see that payment is due on August 8 but the next class isn’t until early September. I’m guessing I could show up for the court date and see if I could get an extension so that I could take the class but that would require me to go to Marin to go to court as well as going to Marin to attend the class and even cheap Joseph admits that isn’t worth all the bother. So I’m gonna have to cough up $230 by the 8th or risk being tossed into the Marin pokey where I’d be subjected to Dickensian horrors such as 200 thread count sheets and nothing but domestic brie. Developing.
